2015 Worlds Ladies Short Program March 26

Not impressed by that 3A from Liza. Badly telegraphed, poor air positions and a scratchy landing. Still not bad considering this is her first attempt at a major tournament and at Worlds BTW.

Really nasty of you; I feel like based on your username you'll never like a triple axel from anyone other than Mao lol

Polina took herself out of the final flight by opting for a 3F instead of a 3L... silly mistake. But at least she went clean unlike the other US ladies.

Considering only two ! marks were given out, maybe Shin saw her interviews and heard her press conferences and was all, "Gurrrrl, you're flip ain't perfect. I'll be sure to ding you so you can get off your high horse.

They did the same thing last year in the SP and then massacred everyone in the FS.

Wasn't Shin the Tech Caller there too?

He wasn't. I distinctly remember this because there were no Japanese judges or technical officials in the Ladies FS even though the event was in Japan, and I thought that was odd.

So suddenly only 3 women at this event have trouble with edges. I guess there are miracles after all.

Well, to be fair, most of the women are avoiding their problem jump (lippers avoiding flips and flutzers avoiding lutzes).

Not that only 4 skaters in the entire field of 35 skaters attempted both a flip and lutz. I'm sure in the FS we'll see wayyy more !/e calls.

No, the tech panel at Worlds last year was:

Ms. Sally REHORICK
Ms. Claudia UNGER
Mr. Fernand FEDRONIC

Despite all the chatter upthread, I don't think Amano was either particularly strict or consistent tonight...

This coming from an uber of the lady who used to hunch up, fling herself into the air, and hope it was rotated?

And to be precise, the difference to third is only 9.21 points, so very much doable.

Well... Murakami isn't known for strong FS (her PB is 108 this season....). And if Miyahara has a 4CC type meltdown or has a strict UR caller, then Ashley might have a long shot.

Please "not impressed". At least it was undeniably fully rotated. I know you can't accept that somebody other than Mao is doing a 3A, but don't even try to pretend like that was a bad or unimpressive 3A attempt - especially for as you said her first attempt in a major international competition.

Also, unlike Mao, Tukt landed a 3-3 as well to boot.

She has a point though, while landing 3A is impressive but she sacrifice choreography for it. You can telegraph jump but design to make it match with overall program such as how Kostner did with the Luzt in her Bolero program.

Yea. I don't think Mr. Amano has ever been particularly consistent or strict. He seems relatively lenient on spin and step sequence levels. He has earned a lot of respect because there has never been an instance where he seems to be favoring Japanese skaters at a big event.

My top 4 favourite performances in order:

1. Kanako
2. Zijun
3. Liza
4. Polina (although her flip edge statement came to me and annoyed me throughout the performance)

Miyahara was injured at 4CC, so I read on Japanese newspaper website.

Yes.....you're right. I got confused because he was the caller at GPF which was also in Japan. I think he was consistant so I've no beef with him and never have.

Zijun skating first might be a good thing. She doesn't have to collapse if Liza skates well.

I'm worried about Kanako though. Her FS hasn't been good all season and to skate after everyone else would be tough.
