Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

well, i wasnt counting this season but you are right, which is more impressive :) but the fact remains to me, he still won by margin of what,35 pts at nationals? sure some skaters wasnt clean but yuzuru also wasnt clean, and he is one of the best spinner, and SS is also top level, i highly doubt JSF wll abadon him and focus just on youngsters (which might even be good for him haha, he can stay in Canada and train in peace )

Take my word: JSF will not care for Yuzuru now that he is unhealthy so often and could not win another god back to back for them. They will push young stars.

Yuzuru is on his own from now on.

I think the score is fair and the silver is right for him. But let's face it: Had it been Patrick, he would have 92 PCS and won (remember WC 2013?). The point is Canada Fed had no other star except Patrick by that time, so all force was for Patrick.
JSF have many young stars to push, they will not care about Yuzuru (PCS) as he has the gold already.
They can make money from him no matter how good or bad his results are as he has a huge fan base already.

The scores from many events suggest otherwise IMO.
I remember Dai's ex coach (aka Morozov) got angry as JSF interrupted Dai's training schedule for shows and events. As Dai already had a huge fan base by that time, they could make money from Dai no matter how good or bad his results are. I am afraid the same thing for Yuzuru. Numerous ice shows in the summer, events... not enough time for proper training.

You don't get what I meant. I never said Yuzuru or Javi didn't deserved this or that. I'd say JSF's full force is not behind Yuzuru but on some others and that's is why the score was fair in the men field. Look at WC 2013 when Patrick had 4 major mistakes and still won. Look at JW when someone got no quad and a fall won over someone with 3 quads. JSF could do that for Yuzuru but they did not.

AGAIN I think the placement at Shanghai is FAIR and I am happy for that. But at the same time I can see how much JSF support their stars. They will soon abandon Yuzuru as he has reputation already. He will have to be on his own from now on. Which I find okay as that will only makes him get hungrier. But at the same time I am afraid the power play inside JSF is not that simple.

Look at what happened to Miki, Daisuke... JSF will make money from Yuzuru as much as they want as he has a huge fanbase already.
Can you please stop talking like that about JFS( it bothered me a lot regarding Satoko/Shoma too). You making supositions that you report as facts. What you're saying makes no sense.Yuzu right now is the biggest athlete that Japan has and the most loved one too, maybe even more than Mao at her peak. He's still producing great results despite all the drama this season and his peak has yet to come.

What you're saying is quite disrespectful to Yuzu too because you imply thay JSF was behind his results till now and he wasn't 'on his own' so he only produced results because they were backing him and only today the score was 'fair' when JSF isn't behing him anymore and that if they still were he would have won even though he didn't deserve to win. You're implying that the results are/were rigged
All the medals that he won till now and he will ever win are the result of his own hard work and talent not because a federation is behind it

Also JSK hasn't abandoned Mao or Dai when they were on their lowest period not winning any medals and still backed them up and send them to the biggest competitions even when they did badly at nationals and were overtaken by younger skaters

The judges are being less generous to him every time (have you checked the protocols? His highest GOE is 1.57 for the 3A combo that a few months ago would have given him something above 2), but he has never been fond of being a judges' favorite.
Well to be fair his jumps today(and yesterday) didn't really have the best quality, his air position was quite off and they didn't seem to have that wow factor either.I'm not saying they were bad, they were not just his usual standard.Honestly not even I as his fan would have given him better GOE and I even thoght the judges were quite generous with him
The PCS was also fair,in fact none of the men broke 90 so the scoring was lower for all men not only him

hello! :) this is actually my first time posting...i just had to come out of my cave cause what yuzuru did today was so admirable...he fought so well and even though he didn't win i'm still so proud of him and so thankful for all his efforts despite all his hardships...he also showed really great sportsmanship as he was genuinely happy for javi..i really love their relationship! i just hope he has a long rest after that and comes back even stronger next season because i'm sure todays defeat has awakened his fighting spirit even more! congrats to javi again! ^^

Welcome bunnibel! :)

All true, but the bolded part in particular.

A quote from Yuzu's interview after FS: "I heard Javier has been working very hard. I am happy for him to have such great result. He says 'congratulations and I am proud of you' to me every time after competition. And this time, I would like to say as a training mate, I am proud of him too. But I am not a generous person. I am disappointed. And I will definitely win back the title next time."

Sorry for late replay but Meoima your conspiracy theories are too much...Tell me...what other super star JSF have? The truth is they only have Yuzuru now. He's the one who can fill stadiums, he's the one who attract thousands of loyal fans around the world. I like Shoma but tbh...he'll never be like Daisuke or Yuzuru...not with his small jumps, body type and shyness...

Yeah well, that is true, it's a beautiful routine but not like what a healthy Yuzuru can do. Yeah the PCS were very similar between Yuzuru/Javier/Denis, so maybe it was just a tough panel in addition that everyone struggled (at different levels)?

Thank you Ryusa5 for your reply to many posts from Meoima. I know that Meoima is a big fan of Yuzuru like we all are, but I can not agree with her fears that the young stars (Shoma, Sota) will replace Yuzuru soon in Japan and in the world competitions, and this is what Japan Skating Union (JSU) want and they will be doing it. I think Meoima overestimate the talent of the young stars (Shoma, Sota) and the power of JSU. I don't beileve those fears at all. Even if the JFU wants to, how can they tell the judges what marks they must give to Shoma /or Sota at each competition so they can beat Yuzuru and any one else to win? How can they (the JSU) transform a person like Shoma/or Sota so they can look even better than Yuzu and they get all the love and the good scores even when they don't deserve, so they can win ? Besides, there are others skaters in the world who are very good too. All of them, Yuzuru, Patrick, Javier, Denis Ten. Nam, Josh, Jason and many others will still beat the young stars like Shoma/ or Sota in many years from now, even if the JSU can use their money to buy all the judges, which is not true, just to make an exageration.

If Meoima fears that the JSU is not behind Yuzuru anymore because he just win a silver medal at World, maybe it is a good thing. So Yuzu will not have to do 50 shows. So he will have more time to rest, to heal his injuries and he will have more time to train in Canada, more time to live his life of a young boy/man of 20 years old. So the JSU can be behind all others skaters under 20, as long as they win the gold medal in every competition. If that is true, I have to wonder what kind of intelligence or knowledge they have in sports and in figure skating ?

Congratulations to all three medalists Yuzu, Javis and Denis.

Oh :( I feel like with how determined and how competitive Yuzu is he must feel extremely frustrated knowing that if it weren't for his rotten luck this year, he'd most likely have won. I don't mean to take anything away from Javi, I completely agree with the results, but Yuzu knows his ability and to have to try and perform that program when his body clearly couldn't do it...it must be difficult to deal with that. It wasn't even in his hands really, I don't know that there was anything more he could have done.

I can't stop sending him positive thoughts, I really really wish that next season will be like a dream for him. He deserves it so badly.

Could you please give us a link to his interview?

Well that sounds like Yuzuru alright. Although he's really happy for Javier, he's still very competitive and was aiming for the title. Only that next year, there will be Javier, Denis AND Patrick, apart from any other skater that might give us a surprise. I'm actually looking forward to that, regardless of the fact that the next Worlds is still far away. It's going to be an exciting competition and I hope Yuzuru can finally compete healthy and even win.

Silver is a wonderful medal. -And as others have pointed out, one he hasn't had yet.
He did his best even in the tough circumstances and I'm so proud of him.

I am so proud of him too ! In 2013 he had health issues and didn't obtain any medal. Now with worse problems.... a better result.
I ask you something. Please, could you translate Yuzu's interview?

Thank you very much for your help ! :)

Thats Yuzu for you! :)

Just right after when I watched the medal ceremony where he was trying to hold back his tears... Along the path of maturity, up & down will happen, I am glad I can share this experience with him, crying and laughing, growing up together... Somedays this bittersweet feeling will become another precious memory, just like all those beautiful moments I've had while watching him over the years. Whatever happens, I think I'm blessed being his fan.

Ps: Sorry for all those chessy (pretty over) emotional posts recently.. What have Yuzu done to me, I dont know...

Somewhere deep down, my gut was telling that it won't bode well for Yuzuru. But it's okay, he's human. He doesn't have nerves of steel, no one does. He fought for all his jumps in the end, which was majestic to watch.

I'm still proud of Yuzuru. He shouldn't beat himself up too much since he did pretty well for an injury-filled season. But we know how competitive he is, so he probably is. I think it'll be interesting to see him next year, there will be a new burning desire in him and he'll be coming out with guns blazing.

The rightful winner won this competition, which I'm glad. No controversies with this Worlds. Honestly, I'm very happy for Javi. He deserved it. Great job, Javi!

And please, no more POTO. No need to polish it with Shae-Lynn Bourne anymore. Sure, it would be a wasted program but with the hordes of POTO programs this year, I'll go bonkers if I hear it again.

Oh no, I don't worry about that, they will do the same for Yuzuru as well. Without him in the biggest events who will help them sell the tickets?

I think the scores, even the GOE are fair as all the men are off both yesterday and today. His air position surely tell that he lacks training. That's the result of being coachless for 3 months. Had it been other skaters they wouldn't even make it to top 10 for sure.

You're implying that the results are/were rigged. He is on his own most of the time. What I am saying is simply that Yuzuru will have to go through many many ice shows, stress himself further, with tons of events and no time to train. "On his own" means he will have to deal with all of those busy events and still have to try to compete with smile on his face and say "I am fine, I can do it" all the time with not much training. And his coach will complain to no avail as well. This happened to Daisuke and Miki and some other skaters as well. I don't want to see it again.

but I can not agree with her fears that the young stars (Shoma, Sota) will replace Yuzuru soon in Japan and in the world competitions, and this is what Japan Skating Union (JSU) want and they will be doing it.
I will be the happiest if I am wrong. But to be honest, I am pretty much permissive when I see the score some of these recent events. To be honest, the scoring for many events lately makes me think this way.

I don't worry about whether Hanyu has the JSFs backing. He's insanely popular in Japan and is already the most successful Japanese male skater ever. He'll eventually surpass Takahasi in popularity.

It's a bit of a good thing he didn't win this year. Calms down all the Hanyuflation talk.
