Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

Oh dear. I remember watching Cup of china during my lunch break, I didn't saw the warm up and took the stream just at the beginning of the group, and I heard the commentators talking about "he probably won't skate after what happened... this was horrible..." but NEVER saying what actually happened !!
Why they didn't say it? Or they thought audience already saw it all? Did they show the warm up? If they didn't (like Eurosport) they must mention the collision.

Maybe they showed or mentioned it, but before I came. I just remember the horrible suspense, when I understood there was something wrong but didn't know what.

But stop talking about bad memories. There are enough good things to talk about :)

This composite image is quite impressive ! We can see how he gets off axis, but comes back to land this lutz cleanly, another evidence of his incredible jumping skills.

Oh boy, all this magazines with Yuzuru make me so jealous !! I wish I could have at least one
When I was at the Bompard I met Japanese fans with a photo book entirely dedicated to Yuzu with such beautiful pics, they showed me just a few pages, and I considered for one second taking it and running far away

If it is the book with all the pictures by Sunao Noto , you can find it here http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/NEOBK-1716094 , even with the added postage to France, it's less than 30€ and most definitely worth the price ;).

Also, I've seen you talking about Bompard a couple of times, so I hope you won't mind me asking. Do you have an idea of the price range we can expect for this year? I had been planning to go this year, for the first time, Paris would have been much better for me since I'm close to Lyon, but still, depending on the ticket price, I thought maybe I could go spend a few days in Bordeaux anyway...
(despite my "old age" I've never been to a figure skating event, so sorry if this question seems stupid )

Thanks for the link ! Did you buy it ? I will consider this.... ;)
There's no stupid question ! For the price range, I don't really know, because I have only been to the Bompard in Paris, so I don't know for Bordeaux. In Bercy, I used to pay 50€ for Ladies+Dance FP for example. There are more expansive tickets (to be on the center of the front row) and cheaper ones (like maybe 25€ but not sure). For the Short programs, it was a lot cheaper, but in Friday afternoon, not everyone can go :/ And finally for the Exhibition... well, I think it was like 75€.
BUT this was for Paris, I don't know if it changes a lot for Bordeaux...

Welcome here, by the way !!

PS : Close to Lyon.... On est donc voisins !!

I did buy it yes, worth every penny as they say :p.

I wish Bompard had been in Paris this year too, at least 6 hours of train to Bordeaux, I'd do it for Yuzu, but that's about it. If the prices are the same, then it's a lot less scary than what I thought. I stumbled upon different websites selling tickets for events in various countries, and when I saw the prices in the US, I thought I'd never ever be able to afford going to a live event . Glad that France makes it a lot more accessible!

Thanks for the welcome (it's pretty difficult to come out of lurker mode).

re PS : Oh? Je suis à Décines, dans l'est lyonnais, et toi?

I bought my copy of the book from CDJapan, at the time they still offered SAL shipping which was the cheapest. It's definitely worth the money, and the cost is actually very reasonable for the quality of the book overall (plus there's a poster!). I remember mine took about 2-3 weeks to arrive because I chose the cheapest shipping but it arrived the day of the CoC collision of all days.

I've also purchased magazines from amazon.co.jp. Shipping is higher but I try to do one large order to minimize the cost, depending on what and how many items you order shipping can sometimes end up cheaper than sites like CDjapan, and it's very fast (3-4 days to the states).

Haha well sometimes, the "unpopularity" of skating in France helps us. When I first went to TEB, I was surprised by the prices, and with the 50€ tickets, I was in the third row maybe, well, at the end of the line, almost on the Zamboni lol, but still close to the ice ! (what I was looking for, in order to make great pics, especially of Yuzu).

I understand, I remained one year reading the forum, before daring posting !! But here, the posters are very nice (is this Yuzu effect?!?!)

Et je suis à Bron, énorme!!! ............... For the others : this is too funny, we just found out that we are neighbours

Thanks for sharing your experience! You guys are tempting me... :hopelessness:

After reading only for a few months, I've indeed seen that everybody seemed to be very nice to each other, even when they disagree on something. Totally agree with you about it being the Yuzu effect  .

(plus énorme encore, j'ai été factrice à Bron pendant 6 ans, jusqu'en 2004 XD, le monde est toujours plus petit qu'on ne le crois)

Sometimes the lack of popularity of FS in France makes me sad... we barely have anything, and have you seen the video that presented the French Team tour? It was awful! Someone with no skill in Windows Movie Maker could have done much better! We're very very very very very far from the superb presentations Japan has for its shows and championships, lol! :laugh2:

I'm waiting to see who will go to TEB and see if I'm going to... For Yuzu, 100% sure I'll go (if work let me lol). If not, I'll see who's there to make a choice.

Hé, les filles, j'habitais à Lyon jusqu'en 2010, avant de déménager pour le boulot. XD C'est nul, Paris...

So many stuff to buy, so not knowing what to get... XD

Random thought: Since he hasn't announced the choreographer for his SP yet, does that mean the new program for DOI is going to be his LP? :drama: The last time that happened it was in 2011 when he showed us his R&J.1

Or maybe he won't even do a new program *knocks on wood*:hopelessness:

Well, we can clearly say that the prices are probably the good side, lol! I envy Japan's popularity with FS (and how they have so many good skaters), but not the prices of the shows and how hard it can be for them to get tickets. Always the downside of something popular.

Aside from Yuzu, Satoko and Mao would be the other skaters to bring me to Bordeaux. So if Satoko comes, I'll try to go. If Mao comes back to competition (Apparently, Satoko said Mao was aiming in that direction), does GP AND come to TEB, I will do everything to go to Bordeaux. Funny how what would bring me to Bordeaux are mainly the Japanese skaters, LOL!

Yes, I miss Lyon!

Or maybe it's kept a secret until DOI? Lot of skaters hide their programs until summer, maybe Yuzu is doing the same. After all, we know the choreographer for the LP, but still not what the program is about, nor the music. :)

But usually they release the choreographers they're using even if they keep everything else a secret. Perhaps he hasn't decided on one yet

Finished drawing the Winnie the Pooh design to knit onto his hat. I also drew his name out in Japanese (I looked up the Japanese calligraphy for it) on the notebook as well so I can put it on the hat. Now I need to order the yarn online and get it. And figure out when I can do it cause I'll be taking biochemistry for 2 hours a day 5 days a week for 5 weeks. And it's pretty intense. Crab I should have bought it Tuesday.
