Recalling Falls

Sasha's fall is perfect really looks like choreographed:biggrin: And nothing "creepy" about Michelle's look at the end to me, very normal appreciative responsive, she applauded adequately and what else can you do when you suddenly caught on cam.

I am not sure if soneone posted it , but it is the fall of jeremmy abbot at olympics. I must say that every time i see it tears brought in my eyes !! He is a true athlete ✌💪😍

It makes me sad to see him actually skater better after that fall than he likely would have had it not been so bad. It is like he was in enough pain that his brain finally turned off an stopped screwing him up. Almost like he was in too much pain to have room for self-doubt and second guessing himself. We as humans should not need to be in pain to overcome our own heads!

I certainly respect him for keeping going, and love the audience support. But seeing how he can skate in agony, you start to see how good he really is and understand why he keeps coming back. He does have ability and talent far beyond his resume. It just has not quite clicked. I don't blame the guy for wanting to skate like he knows he can on the big stage.

So what part of her was injured that caused her to stop? Cuz it looks like it could be head, arms, wrist, ribs, hips, or something I am not thinking of. I am curious which was the problem in this fall as it is hard to tell.

I thought it would be her ribs. Skaters are tough and something related to their limbs can stop them but normally not leave them laying on the ice without being able to move. She was using her arms as support after she fell so it was not likely that the arms or wrists were affected. The head can leave her laying there of course, but I didn't see hers hitting the ice and she was not grabbing it. I thought she kind of got the air knocked out of her lungs as the first place that touched the ice was the ribcage. But that's just my impression.

Julia Lautowa (Austria) had a fall @ 2003 Worlds) during her free skate (I'm reasonably sure it was her free skate). I think it happened @ the end of her program She laughed it off, and it was a cute moment.

Here's a bizarre fall! Plushy at the 2004 World Championships, fabulous program, everything going amazingly, there was even a 3A - 1/2 loop -3 flip in it and then on his last jump - slip!

Fortunately, he popped right back up again! But what a bizarre fall!

That actually happens more often that you'd think. I always hated loop jumps because I'd always worry about skidding off the edge like that. I saw one skater at Nationals last year have the same error...

Those quads and axels though... wow.

 That's adorable. It's nice when a skater can laugh it off. That's why some of Yuzu's falls are actually pleasant to see in that he still maintains a positive attitude and keeps smiling, even with a silly error. Some skaters take themselves way too seriously.

That's true that for example at GPF this year, Yuzu was quite cute after his falls
