Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

Hello! I have been following this forum when there were only 800 pages...I finally had the courage to write something (sorry my English is not thaaaat good). Anyway...to be honest I don't know how to send posts here (I hope I am doing it right). ^^

I have a question too. I read things about Yuzu's dogeza...I don't really know what that mean...I saw only photos...Is he apologizing? Does it have a video?

Thank you very much o//

Great show! I love Yuzu's skating in 'believe'; his edge is deeper, wow:shocked:I went through everyone's performance, yet 'believe' is the only one that I replayed over and over again (Vertigo is too hot I don't even dare to watch very closely:laugh:)

But I'm only concerned about one thing: has he changed his way of landing?! His landing now looks like Shoma's, isn't it?

PS. I hope everyone who's in Japan is safe!! Please take care.

Welcome to forum!! :cheer: yes he is apologizing after failing to land 4Lo  didnt see video of it though, he did it once again after falling many times during his ex Hello I Love You, but couldnt find the video

i dont think its " chaning the way you land", he just couldnt land it as he usually does, when you look at 3A at beginning its still top quality

The reason he landed the 4Loop that way is that he hasn't mastered the jump well. He knows it. That's why he is practicing it to improve.
And if you ask me why Shoma lands his jumps that way, I think because the jumps are not high enough. Even his axel, lutz... always that low.

When you're comfortable with a jump, you will see the landing more like Yuzuru's 3A and 4T. This means Yuzuru still has quite a way to go with his 4Loop. He hasn't done it as well as his 4T and 4S. But I remember at Finlandia 2013 his 4S (landed) was already the same in the landing. So he will improve the 4Loop eventually for sure.

@pamina I totally loved your report ! With pics and everything (the gum part had me laughing like crazy ) I'm glad you had a lovely time and that you are safe. Thank you so much ^^.

I wonder when we'll see his 4Lo in competition :)

I'm hopeful that we may see it in the 2016-2017 season :) It's not consistent enough to add it for the 2015-2016 and I think it would be too risky to add it for the first time during the Olympic season.
Or who knows, he could surprise us going for it at a B competition or WTT

Of course having it in a program it's totally a different beast, but he's showing it more and more: it's becoming his quad to go during gala/ex quad battles so he must feel good about it :)
I wonder if he will try and add it during 15/16 season, maybe later on :)

Thanks for your review Pamina! And glad to hear that you were ok and things went back to normal. I don't think I'd have walked up so many floors too, lol!

I don't think we'll see Yuzu doing 4Lo in competitions yet, but trying it in future galas is definitely probable.^^

First I want to thank everyone who shared/uploded video, gif and pictures, just made my day !:)

Then, short review about today performance :

Opening : Yuzuru was just perfect and totally into the dance ! I love the 3A + leg mouvement afterward. Ans it's just me or he did a mooowalk ?(in the end, when all the skaters were on the ice rink)

Vertigo : No word. Actually I'm often sad to watch ice skating alone in my room, but this time I was quite happy that nobody could see me because...:o: Just to say, I had to stop the video every 20 seconds to take a breath xD

Believe : Balade is not my thing, and this time too the song isn't in my taste BUT Yuzuru made a good job because the 3 minutes just flew away. Even if I don't know anything about technical point, I could definitely see his skating skill, gracious and so much emotions in the interpretation.... And for the costume, the orange is a bit light, but sometime when the background wasdark blue it's beautiful (ink blue + orange = )

Ending : the 4L was lovely. I re-watched it at least 10 times. And I love the blue shirt !

Sorry about this long post, but I only wanted to share my opinion (and my joy ^^)

ficelle, thank you for your long post!
I love reading long posts if they are positive, of course. :)

Pamina, thank you for your taking time to describe your way to show. It was very endearing, and esp. your buying unneccesarily things makes me smile. We all would do the same I guess.

Thank you for your explanations! In fact it was his other jumps not the quad loop that made me wonder, but anyway I'm sure he knows the best way to land those jumps, so I'm not worried:cool:

Fantasy On Ice, Makuhari - Day 2, 30 May 2015
Opening (DailyMotion)

this news program delivered the whole body shot! + interview

For those of you who are worried that he looked less energetic today than yesterday, he did said in the interview after the whole thing that he wanted to jump the most difficult jump (4lo) in the end and that was something that he had to work to pace himself and it is a motivation of sorts too. I think it's possible that was why he was saving energy.

And he also said in the interview after the Vertigo performance that he still felt embarrassed but it's nice to do an uptempo rock program . The interviewer then asked him about his "signatures poses" that elicited much appreciation from the crowd to which he said "uh, let's not touch on that subject". Guess we won't hear him talk about his hip shaking anytime soon heh?

Thanks for the link to Oda's blog. In case anyone is wondering, the first picture seems to be Hanyu-san comforting Oda-san since he did not get a high-five after 4lo when he said he wanted one...then he finally got his wish!

Now that you mention it, I also feel the same. Yuzu's landing of 3F & 3Lo from Vertigo, 3A from Believe, and 4T from finale (08:40) today is similar to Shoma's. I wonder why...

I think Yuzuru was saving energy a lot. All of his jumps today seem to be lower than usual (except the 4Lo). I guess it's as Firal has said, he wanted to save energy for 4Loop.
You can see his jumps in both Vertigo and Believe weren't as high as he could have done. I think it's more like saving his power for the biggest jump in finale.

I've been away and just got back and I've watched all these new Yuzu vids. My poor heart cant take all the excitement. :laugh2:

I believe this to be the case as well. He doesn't want to burn out before the finale and his 4L. Although, I also think that part of the reason can also be because of how he wants to perform the choreographies for Vertigo and Believe to their fullest. To conserve energy and concentrate on his movements. But that's just my theory :) Anyways, I'm so in love with Believe that I've been replaying it over and over again.

Thank you Firal, I had been wondering what he was saying in that interview
