I didn't say it's false. I am sure many information was right. I am just saying this:
personally I think some information in the article on GS above was not reliable because the words about his music taste was not direct quote. So I can't take the comment in this article as 100% true. Some information was true but some not reliable. Not to mention he was (and still) very bad at English, so I am not sure even he knew what exactly to say. He might simply picked up some random names.

I agree "not reliable" should be changed into "questionable". Because of all the reasons I have listed above. His interview in the same period didn't mention any foreign artists. Maybe he liked them, maybe not, but it's not direct quote. So to me it's questionable.

Obviously there are information that was proven true, I have no question about it. I didn't say a word that GS article was false.
 
Meoima, it`s not like I object your words, you might be right, but it`s indeed very interesting to know Yuzu`s taste in music.
Too bad I read it long ago and don`t even remember where, but I remember it was translation of his interview, so I think it was a reliable source.
May be in the end we will find the truth.
So I remember his words that Yuzu like to listen to JLo andd Beyonce (among others which I don`t remember) songs because they enlight his mood before competitions.
It was a litle bit strange choice (for me), so I remember it.
I hope there will not be a heated debate :) but just exchange of opinions.

Sorry if I read your post wrong. I thought you said it was a 'false rumor' and indicated the GS article. So that is what I made as a connection.
It's not very important anyway. ;)

I called the whole g/f, partners etc as "false rumors". I didn't called the GS article as "false rumor". It was 2 posts but I deleted one and made just 1 post so maybe the mod misunderstood. I was replying Alex.

That is very interesting Morena, actually these too ladies might be possible if he mentioned fast song from them (songs that make people dance) but I have never seen English interview that he directly mentioned JLo and Beyonce. Maybe it was in Chinese?

The only names I have ever read that he likes (direct quotes and from many interviews) are Bump of Chicken, Porno Graffitti, Sketchbook, Hi-Fi Camp (now ‘Pandalion’), and maybe Exile IIRC...

I remember there are several songs have been listed in this fan thread as his favorite during competitions are "become super star" (or something like that I don't remember correctly), a song for a famous anime (again I don't remember)... I recall someone even said Hi-fi camps music has some very mature lyrics and they're not sure it's suitable for Yuzuru. ;)

I am quite bad at the names but still remember some reference... In short, my impression from Yuzuru is that he is very Japan-oriented. All his favorite musics, bands are J-rock or Jpop and he is very up to date to Japanese young culture latest trends (kabedon with Oda lol)...

And about Yuzu being Japan-oriented - I feel the same. But isn`t that true, that american stars are stars in Japan too (japanese love them as much as they love their home stars)?
In that case, Yuzu should know them (and even like) very well, no?
It`s just my assumption or rather question.

I can't talk about Japanese music industry Morena. :scratch: I assume American stars are well-known everywhere (not just because of their music) but also of their international coverage :), but that doesn't say Yuzuru must have liked JLo and Beyonce. I only read articles/interviews in English so maybe I am more limited to the topic. Maybe Yuzuru like their dance music? It's very possible but I need direct quote in interviews with reliable sources to clarify.

One thing is clear is that he likes fast tempo music. :laugh: And he mostly listen to J-pop, as he himself said so. :)

I have never found any reliable interview that he said downright that he liked Lady Gaga or Taylor Swift. If anyone mentioned AKBA, please notice that from his reaction to AKB in a clip when he was in high school, I am sure he doesn't like AKB even a bit.

Yuzru never ever mentioned Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga... I think Yuzuru didn't seem to know many foreign artists by the time the interview was done. And given his music taste, I am not sure he like these lady singers.

Which do you choose to believe? An interview without direct quote, in English - the langue he was very bad at (especially at the age of 15-16) or the interview he did in Japanese with direct quote?

Wow, thank you for the article. I have never seen it before. :) But I don't understand what it's supposed to have proved. Yeah, these dorky kids liked to dance to some really good music as a company. But that's all I can think of. It doesn't really debunk the "myth" (which is actually pretty reliable- look up who took this interview) that he likes or liked LG and TS.
Secondly, is there something wrong with listening to LG and TS? You sound a bit biased. It's perfectly normal. Some of my guy friends liked these pop singers when they were younger. Ukranian guys :rolleye:
Thirdly, I can totally imagine Yuzu listening to something like that. The first one is upbeat and makes you dance, the second one is very tender and gentle. He always expresses his love for tender songs, remember his EXs?

And the false rumor about Marika you implied in your post. You know I remember it was the same like this last summer. I have been through it I am not new. I remember the talks and even the nick that started it from tumblr. Funny enough, the blog that started it was infamous for her habit of "making up untrue gossips". Someone wanted attention, whoever they are I don't mind. I just know it's false rumor and many people who have followed the thread for a long time know it. But if we are not careful, some new posters might take the false rumor too serious. I just want to make clear there is no wrong indication at all.

I don't think it's advisable when people dig up old news that's not reliable and spread it around (again).

Other than this indirect quote which is questionable, all of his interviews about his music taste have been very consistent. Jrock, Jpop and some mix dance.

The fact that he used to listen to lady gaga and Taylor swift comes from the official website that was opened for a few weeks around 2012's wc. There the two of them were listed among a great number of jpop artist as music he likes...

Meoima calm down, I don't understand what you're accusing me of. I didn't mention any rumors. I simply stated that Yuzuru might have been affected by Marika's taste for music implying that he and Marika have been really good friends for a long time. They even played games together and Marika's mentioned him many times as her good friend. It's possible for friends to influence each other. Please stop kicking up a fuss out of nowhere.
I think you hold your own prejustices but it's up to you whether to believe or not to :think: though I dont get what's wrong with these singers. Because they are female?:unsure: really?

I think you've read it on another forum, Yuzuru Hanyu forum, haven;t you? It was an assumption and I remember it. Still, the more versatile the playlist of a person teh more interesting this person is for me. Judging by his fluctuation of taste between Plushenko and Weir, Hello and FTT I absolutely believe in this guy's versatility :)

And I think what you have mentioned is also assumption. Again, let's assume Yuzuru did like artist A, B, C... doesn't mean he was affected by anyone. Evidence? Good friend for a long time? Proof? It sounds more like assumption to me.

I remember in 2011 Kanako said she liked Justin Bieber too, then at CoR 2011 Yuzuru skated to Justine Bieber in his ex. So Yuzuru was affected by Kanako's music taste maybe? I think there's high possibility. Then this season all Japan team chose Phantom, does this mean Yuzuru was affected by Kanako and Mura as well? Why not?

I remember last summer some posters brought the false rumors mentioning some thing untrue from a blog that always created false rumors. I don't think some new posters have heard of those false rumors, what if they take these false rumors serious?

Yeah, I assumed that he was affected by his friend. Sometimes our friends make as fans of something they like themselves. I also don't rule out the possibility with Kanako ;) Everything is possible. But I'm 100% sure POTO music is his own obsession. There was a proof of it.
