Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

Haven't posted for a long time but I just can't take this anymore - being the lucky one to watch the show there, I've been DEAD (yea, still) for his new programme. He and his team are both wise to choose this lovely piece of music showing affection to his root and somewhat another level of artistry. The Ina Bauer was gorgeous as usual technically but a lot more sophistication in terms of interpretation of choreo. Footwork was magnificent too. Not sure how the arrangement will be adjusted, but I like the pitching of 4T. It seems Yuzu really knows himself very well, this might be the defining programme of his career. Nonetheless, Shae Lynn surprised me by handing this very oriental programme. She got Yuzu's edge and making it easy for foreign fans' appreciation. Applause to Shae Lynn.

The elegant Yuzu wowed the audiences with his glittery silver/white-embroidered costume and the special music choice. All of you might hear the boiling crowd later when the full version will be broadcast soon or later LMAO

The costume shone and it totally killed!!!! Yep, shinny little rhinestones are still on, okay, in a nice way (i think)

No worries to his falls for the 2 quads, he needs some time to get used to the music - it looked like he was not so sure at the moment he took off, he just missed the moment. Last but not least, the rink is small, he accommodated it quite a bit that he also slowed down sometimes when getting close to the end.

Can't wait to see the whole polished programme. His growth is huge and swift...... like a rocket indeed. I am so proud of him and excited to see how much he can do in the future.

Finally catching up to the last post! I knew this thread would explode, and it seems like it's with happiness! Japanese music + trying green with the costume and no frilly bits!!!???

Actually glad that he did not go for Samurai, which would have been a little bit predicable and overused.

I don't think the team knew this neither But still a good move to take Yuzu's risky suggestion and they all make it works. Of coz, for the decision of music choice, it's probably the influence / power of OG champ

I was scrolling through twitter last night as it was being revealed, and someone said that they sat quite far away so they thought the opening pose he had his fingers up his nose...

Don't know if this has been posted, but this is from the latest news this morning, including some interview of audience reaction from last night and also ina bauer for the new FP! (I remember people were wondering about the placement of that)

Welcome back to posting and thank you very much for your first hand report of the unveiling of Yuzuru's new LP. Re the costume, I appreciate from watching the brief video how like his R & J 1 costume, the "cinching" at the waist makes the bottom part of the top flare out when he spins.

I'm so incredibly late, I had to wait till the evening so I could post again from home. About everything: OHMYGOD, just And I was wishing that he would skate to japanese style music at WTT like some other posters here were. It sounds and looks like a dream program, I imagine that If by some miracle he hits almost all his jumps it will be just pure magic. of course that 3rd quad is all kinds of skeptical by now but who cares, i'm too excited already. I'm trying to not get my hopes too high since we didn't see the full program yet but lord it's just so hard And isn't it hilarious that Yuzuru (and some other japanese skaters as well, like Rika and Satoko) are coming up with the some of the most original music choices till now, it's almost like a reverse 2014-2015 season, the anti-POTO I admit there was a voice in my mind saying "Don't get too hyped, he will show up with another basic warhorse and you will be disapointed" but oh boy ... He's always one step ahead. From the ice network article, he's basically adressing all kinds of concerns of his FPS: music choice and body line. Hope this is not a signal of a Bolero SP *knocks the wood*

And that placement of the ina bauer, plus hydroblade, the starting pose, the finishing pose, I can't get enough

I really do wonder if the music selection and theme was solely Yuzuru's choice or if It was a team idea.

I wonder when we'll find out more about the SP.

I thought that he is dropping the Biellmann since he's doing the A-spin but I just assumed. I'm not particularly fond of the butt spin but I think it's a smart choice for him to drop the Biellman at this stage because of even more back problems and also the form of his Biellmann hasn't been close of the ideal for ages, he's losing the flexibility required for it as it's expected since he's getting older. We still have his gorgeous Ina Bauer timed with the music, which I think he will keep for his whole competitive career.

I guess it's a mix? Dun think Shae Lynn or anyone of the team understands Japanese culture so much that they could raise the original idea. It's probably Yuzuru's suggestion? Otherwise perhaps it was Yuzuru who gave the concept and then all of them sorted out the music together.

Can I expect the new SP to be revealed during the shows in July?

From Panda_Wei's report after the show, he said that he had originally wanted a Japanese choreographer for this program, but was worried that it would be hard to connect to foreign audience, so they asked Shae-Lynn again. Shae-Lynn, in preparation, studied a lot about the subject and that's how this was created.
