Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

Honestly, after having heard so many types of English spoken by Indians, Chinese, Vietamese, Filipino, and others in the business scenes etc., I thought "Why not Japanese-English?", and stopped to think it a shame to make a mistake in using a foreign language, although still a bit embarrassing.

So, I want to encourage Yuzuru not to hesitate to speak English or make any mistake with it :cheer:
Without making a mistake, you would not improve yourself.

Oh, surely he knows it already as he said the same for his skating :agree:

Circling back to the Olympics try something new vid, I would have liked Uchimura to appear too. He's going for his second Gold in Rio in AA.
Maybe they couldn't get him to 'try something new'. Or he was too busy.

Now that I think about it, was there any other winter olympic athlete other than Yuzu in that video?

Welcome @ Jo de Souza!

I’m impressed that you can have such a positive mind although you have had tough experience. This must have lead you to the point you can write very well. :). As for me, mistakes beat me and it's sometimes difficult to get over..
Yeah, yuzu is a bright guy and knows well..

Yeah! I’m such a fan of Uchimura as to go to the competition to see him live. As you know, Uchimura and yuzu have the similarit in their good looks, talent, mastering at their sports (to make difficult things look so easy.), hate-to-lose personality, etc., I want them to have conversation in a magazine or meet in an award ceremony.

I guess Yuna has a video because Korea will host Winter Game 2018. And Yuzuru was invited because Tokyo will host Summer Game 2020. And since they're stars in their countries, that makes sense.

I've seen a video with Michael Martinez on it. And Yuna Kim have a video too.

It seems that the inclusion of Michael Martinez was a mistake as they re-uploaded a new video with him edited out just moments after. Lol....whoever made that video probably mistook him for Yuzuru :slink:

On a side note, I bought my plane ticket+hotels for Boston :party2:

Uchimura would have been a great choice! Maybe he's too busy now with two children. Many call him the greatest gymnast of all time - I'd love to go to Glasgow Worlds this fall to see him live before he retires.

Congratus! :cheer: Yey! I’m glad you will give us your report!

Really? It’s nice if you can actually go!:) It’s another to see him live! Never fail to watch his eyes, facial expression and atmosphere right before he’s going. It’s beyond description. And his ability to manipulate the moment. Big aura which is suitable for the person in the center of spotlight, such as Yuzu…

Hi! Welcome to the forum! :cheer: If I understood correctly you're saying that the Japanese who speak Portuguese struggle with pronouncing the L and R differently even when they've lived in Brazil for years? Sorry I don't speak Portuguese it's what I kind of understood

That's exactly what she said. Her husband (her daughter's father) is japanese. I've knew her on line for years but we've lost contact. Our love for Yuzu's skating brought us together again.
PS: We're brazilians. My english is terrible. Sorry!

Welcome! :cheer:
I love football, and have a lot of Brazilian players whom I like. Brazil is too far from Japan where I live.
Yuzu has his fans around the world!

Welcome here ! Don't be worried by english, we understand each others only by Yuzu passion

welcome to new members!! hope you stay long in this crazy thread :cheer:

Yeah, Speed is a big factor to make listening difficult. I can mostly understand News like BBC, academic lectures, speech or so. In general, speakers speak clearly and respectively slowly. I never been to countries where their mother tongue is English and have no surroundings to hear English native speaker in my daily life, but I feel daily conversation of native speakers is totally another. When I watch English drama on TV, what they talk is sometimes beyond my understanding. (I recently watched American drama “Newsroom”, but their conversation is too fast and full or slang or idiom for conversation, I gave up.)

:hijacked: awww love that show (too bad they ended it after 3 seasons  now they are doing the same to Hannibal :bang:), dont give up on it!! but you are right, sometimes they talk really fast, thats where subtitles come in, sometimes i had to stop it and read to understand what they were saying

I'm really only fluent in English but understand some French and now a bit of Russian. I'm always amazed at how so many different barriers are broken down by our love and support for our favorite skaters. It's truly something that doesn't exist in many other sports let alone aspects of life in general. I feel like I've met some of the nicest people in the whole world by participating in threads like this one:yes:

Welcome Krika!!
