About the harness, I have not seen or heard about Japanese skaters practicing jumps with a harness usually, although someone said there is a video of Kozuka practicing with it handled by his father when he was a kid. And recently, Marin Honda was practicing with it abroad.

I heard, in the first place, Japanese normal rinks do not have a harness (the type equipped with the ceiling) as they are crowded with general people, and not dedicated for competitive skaters (I heard before Chukyo University rink and Jingu rink have, but not sure). As for the one held by a coach, it requires power and technique, so that there are not so many coaches who can handle it well. And, this type is also difficult to use in a crowded rink.

Japanese rink condition may be preventing skaters from the practice using a harness. This is just my impression though. Coaches might have a different idea. They might not prefer such training. I don't know.

So ... I have no idea who this person is but can this possibly be the beginning of our obligatory mid August press at the Cricket Club? Or should I say: Finally the news about short program ? :yay: I'm guessing.

Thanks, SuzyQ. Your input sheds light on the harness issue for me :)

What happened to his neck? Is that blood??

Where? I only see his necklace...the one he always uses  , and shadows, but I don't think there's any blood in there (what mean magazine would use a picture with his blood?)

I was wondering, is Yuzu the only Japanese skater that can and proven in competition that he can land at least 2 different quads? Ive only seen Tatsuki and both Taka's do 4T, I know Daisuke tried a 4F but never landed it, Shoma is just now learning 4S and im not to sure about Murakami, I know he can do 4S but 4T?

Honda Takeshi? I think he is the only Japanese man to have landed 3 quads in a LP. Quite amazing. --The beginning of Japan's Men's great skating.

In the video, Noriko Shirota commented Honda might be able to make the triple flip in this performance quad. She said so to Honda later, and he replied "yes, it could have been." WOW

In any case, no wonder Takeshi Honda is one of the legendary skaters in Japan.

I don't remeber if I saw this performance before. Thank you for the link.

Yes I agree that the magazine would not use a pic with blood of him as cover. But it was shocking when I first look at it.

I think it's the necklace too, don't worry, @smasma 😊

Ok. Thanks @ahkeekee.
