Elizaveta Tuktamysheva

Yes, I agree with what has been said here. Only I liked the LP from the onset - not so much for how it was then, but because I felt it had promise. I think that that promise is beginning to be realised - and that the program will grow throughout the season. I think there is already great progress from how she skated it at the test skates/Samara, and now. In her really connecting to it, and the power she is able to express. Well done, Liza!

Pity about the 3A fall - and the fluke fall, which, I agree was a bit comical as she sort of just sat down. Well, hopefully she's getting these stumbles and fumbles out of the way early, and can improve as the season continues. Go, Liza! :)

On a Shallow Note: May I say that was on good-looking kiss & cry?;) Are there any behind-the-scenes stuff - photos &c - of Team Europe? I'd love to see some of their interaction.:)

More pics tomorrow, I'm sleepy.

Thanks, as ever, adelia!

Awww, they are just adorable, aren't they? (gushes shamelessly) They look like they were having fun - and that's the main thing, I think! :)

 I love those pics, thanks so much!

Finally I found an interview with WISE Mishin after the JO competition right here http://www.sovsport.ru/gazeta/article-item/846728
Generally he said he was satisfied with Liza's performance and that her new image in the new season was very impressive to those highly respected experts. He also praised Liza's fearless fighting spirit for attempting 3A at JO.
Of course this is only my understanding of his comments on Liza's 1st International debut this season, so I am not sure about its accuracy. :o:

The complete google translation of Mishin's thoughts on this commercial show is as follows:

Alexei Mishin: Just Lisa tighten Japan's triple axel
Japan Open was interesting because it was held after a missed season return not only Sotnikova, and other stars of world figure skating: triple world champion Mao Asada and Patrick Chan. Mao did not disappoint his audience, performing a triple axel for them, have not received Tuktamysheva. On the whole, it riding is impressive - a real art. But Chan in terms of jumps is not the same. However, as soon as he will restore them, argue with them will be difficult. But, as proved Yuzuru Hanyu (in the short program of the team tournament Sochi Evgeni Plushenko), - you can.

- By its spectacular tournament is not inferior to the World Cup - said the coach Sovsport.ru Tuktamysheva Plushenko and Alexei Mishin. - First of all impressed with Javier Fernandez. It is in the power of it in working condition. If Soma Uno, which is, shall we say, not entirely deserved, but worthy won first place, makes his jumps on the strength of will, the Spaniard - with high quality and impeccable technique. About Soma Uno can say that he is not a carrier of the classic forms of skiing, but from the arsenal, he let go of God, he squeezed all, if not more. Patrick Chan is suspended, he came back, but still clearly not at ease. Quad him failed, a triple axel was extended to the teeth.

- What was the main impression of the competition the girls?
- Neglecting false sense of modesty in the first place be noted Tuktamysheva. Triumphant seasons are not easy to pass, and we saw in the case of our Olympic champions. So Lisa after wins in 12 starts last season of 14, returns very difficult. But now we can say that things went smoothly, and it is starting to take on. Two things that I liked: a highly regarded experts any program in which she looks totally different than last year (in short, by the way, this difference is even more noticeable), and, of course, attempt to execute the axel in three half a turn. Lisa has not chickened out and tighten the jump - the only one in the competition.

- So Assad nedokruchivaet triple axel?
- Competitions were significant-commercial character, and of course, the Japanese skater used here supports native walls to a greater extent than anyone else. In general, the Figure Skating Federation of Japan are working very intelligent people. With this tournament, they identified the return of Mao advertised Soma Uno, Miyahara supported. I would take it start. Lisa And I'm really pleased. She skated well, and the final of any program at all led the audience in raptures.

- How do you Adelina Sotnikova, you probably just have not seen, like all of us?
- It is well done, decent and diligent girl. I note that in person, it made me a good impression. Test copper pipes she passed, and star fever has not touched her.

I don't know whether you can get the gist of this interview from such translation, but I'm afraid I can't myself...

Elizaveta looked so beautiful in the JO competiton. I like her dress, and there is plenty of time for her to bring her jumps to the highest quality again. Her scores weren't too bad, all things considered. It's a solid start to the season.

Thanks for the pics, adelia! The arrival pic is my fav, looks like just like a model there :agree:

This one was posted on Liza's IG a couple days back. Adelina and Liza as well as their coaches have always had good relations, regardless of what went on between Mishin and TAT in the past. I don't know why someone would say otherwise.

Just been going through my Facebook News Feed, and it is coming down with stuff about the Japan Open.

Well thanks a lot ISU! :sarcasm:

Due to it being on a different page of your season calendar (ISU Communication 1940) to the Ondrej Nepela, I thought the Japan Open was next week!!! :bang:

So, when's Liza's next competition? I've still 2 Junior GP's and the last day of the Ondrej Nepela to watch, so I would like to know how long I have catch up so that I can prioritise! 😉

Because, Liza is ALWAYS the priority! ;)

Liza's next competition is Coupe de Nice. Practice sessions begin on the 14th of Oct.

Thank goodness!

Apart from anthing else, I wouldn't have wanted anybody to be travelling back from Japan and doing another competition straight away. I still reckon that doing the Coupe de Nice a matter of days beforehand is what prevented Liza from winning Skate America last season.

At least she is being more sensible about her schedule this season. :agree:

Thank you for the info, adelia!

Originally Liza and Mishin wanted CoC and NHK Trophy but the organizers put Satoko at NHK so Liza could not go there. She doesn't like skating at CoR so the only option left was SC and TEB. She has done well there in the past so they were okay with it. SA is not so good because it is too early a start for those who ended their season late like Liza.

To be honest, I don't blame her for not wanting to do the Cup of Russia. With how enthusiastically the Russians get behind their skaters, it would be far too much pressure on her. Can you imagine what the expectations of the crowd would have been like, especially after the season she has just had?! I wouldn't wish that on anybody.

She may not have got the GP's she wanted, but at least they are well spaced out (as were her original preferences). As I say, you don't want to be doing competitions on 2 different continents on consecutive weeks!

I just had time to catch up on ladies' Japan Open performances and while it was one rough skate for Elizaveta, I must say one thing: that costume is fantastic, it lends her a mature, elegant and refined look and with the hair braided up, she looks amazing, much better than in a ponytail.

Never mind, for the mass media are very fond of creating such imaginative rivalry between these skating stars to gain more readers, which is not a big deal at all.

@CaroLiza_fan - This is a good page to look at, if you want to keep track of upcoming events::

http://www.goldenskate.com/upcoming-figure-skating-events/

Thank you, LRK! :points: I had forgotten all about that page!

I don't think it'll happen again, though. I was just caught out by a series of unfortunate circumstances this time.

  1. The positioning of the Japan Open on a different page to all the other competitions this weekend on my printed copy of the ISU calendar.

  2. The Japan Open thread on here didn't have the dates in the thread title, so I didn't realise that there was a hurry to look at it.

  3. The fact that I was concentrating on trying to catch up on other competitions meant I was being more selective about what threads I was going into.

But, at least I now know not to make these mistakes again!

I just rediscovered it recently myself - I was getting terribly confused between all the competitions, and trying to keep track of what was going to happen when.. and then I was struck by this vague recollection of seeing something like that sometime... And now I won't forget again either. :) It is very useful, isn't it?
