2015 Autumn Classic International - Short Program news/photo continues...

He thinks by the next Olympic top skaters will have 2 quads in their SP. So he is putting quad in the second half of his SP to make it more difficult to prepare for that.

Here I made a compilation of two FS practices - that's how an ideal programme must look like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvkCejzJQ6E

From the Senior Men's medal ceremony, a series of fancam Instagram video snippets posted by @michlmint:

Yuzuru finishes his bows on center ice and steps onto the podium:

YH applauds on the podium as Nam takes his bows on center ice; the two men hug before Nam steps onto the podium:
https://instagram.com/p/84rXSkj-Zs/

Big cheers from the crowd for beaming Sean as he takes his bows on center ice; Sean gives handshakes and hugs first to YH and then to Nam:
https://instagram.com/p/84spm3D-be/

The three men on the podium applaud as Jeffrey Buttle is announced and approaches to start presenting the medals:
https://instagram.com/p/84is9HD-e6/

Jeffrey finishes presenting flowers to all three men; Sean wipes one eye after the other (I think b/c he got teary with emotion? so sweet):
https://instagram.com/p/84s_4mj-b6/

YH sings or mouths the words as the anthem plays; YH gives a small bow at the end of the anthem and Nam and Sean nod their heads too; as all three men clap, YH lifts his hands slightly to acknowledge the crowd:
https://instagram.com/p/84jzv3j-QZ/

All three men together on the top step; Nam and YH playfully compare their heights; Sean steps off the podium first and instinctively extends his hand to offer help to YH; YH hops down on his own:

After stepping off the podium, the three men pose on ice with their medals:

I noticed that too. Why does Yuzuru have this HELPLESS aura about him that makes other skaters want to help him get down from podiums? Remember this?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbRPrJ_gdbw
Javier and Richard are gentlemen! And Yuzu was like..." Nope dude, I got this."

Even Daisuke once said that YUZURU look like a grass eater on the outside but is actually a meat eater inside. I guess that's why he EATS up his competitors.
Because of this deceitful face.

Lol????????? What is this kid even doing.

Until a better quality video turns up, here is a video of him talking to Brian in the K&C.

"I need a little more to get in speed for the toe loop(?)"

"It's raining, it's raining" *puts hoodie on*

More videos from the same user.

According to @kirariyuzu, Yuzuru took part in the music editing for SEIMEI, and the “breath” you hear at the very beginning is a recording of Yuzuru’s actual breath!

Here is the post about my experience this week in Barrie. Please ignore the amount of fan-girling I did in this post - it was an AMAZING experience. I hope you enjoy.

Another report by BEVERLEY SMITH, some parts overlap with the article of icenetwork, but there's something new.

People will love it or hate it according to their pre conceived tastes, knowing the background won't make them love it, maybe just understand from where it comes from but it doesn't mean liking it.
True, I agree. But if I don't undestand something then I always tend to research, especially when it comes to my favorite skaters, actors, musicians, etc. To me SEIMEI is an intellectual program and I like to know it's depth to appreciate it even more.

I don't think it needs that much research in order to appreciate his LP, I actually didn't watch the movie at all (although I plan in doing so) and I'm not knowledgeable about japanese culture by any means but I loved it to pieces. People will love it or hate it according to their pre conceived tastes, knowing the background won't make them love it, maybe just understand from where it comes from but it doesn't mean liking it. I was very surprised that people thought that it could be difficult for western people to appreciate a japanese themed FS. I honestly think it's just an outside of the box program, it being japanese doesn't make it that much harder for western people to appreciate. It actually makes it more intriguing especially because If you're a fan of figure skating as a sport you already have an affinity for arts and generally exotic stuff; it's figure skating after all, a sport with laces and sequins.
I agree. Just compare it to for example Romeo and Juliet. Most people are familiar with the story and the concept. But even if they love the story to bits, it doesn't automatically mean that they will love every musical interpretation or every single skating program set to that theme. They may understand it, but they don't have to necessarily like it. And I also don't think that it's impossible to appreciate something just because it's not part of your own culture. Different things appeal to different people. Likewise do I not have to enjoy everything that is inherent to the culture I grew up in. I'm German, yet the only way to make me sit through a whole Wagner opera would be by pointing a gun at my head  just as an example

That is why I love figure skating: I get to listen to a lot of classical music without having to listen to the entire concerts, operas, musicals, etc, etc. It's a win-win sport from this point of view, really.;)

I'm probably not supposed to laugh and I'm truly sorry for those fans but
The first night, puzzled janitors removed the sweaters and various seat-holders and placed them all in the lost-and-found department.
best part of the article:laugh2:

True. But sometimes even pieces of certain music are too much for me :hopelessness: like every time I hear the first few notes of the Habanera, my eyes go :rolleye: and then the rest of me goes :slink:

I know, I know, some music just makes my ears bleed as well.
That icenetwork article is a lot of fun.

Yes, I totally agree  Knowing the background can enchance the experience for someone who's already liking it, but I think your first impression to the program is according to your tastes. Someone can still hate the program even if the person has done all the research in the world about japanese culture.

My first impression was: "what?" Even after I read the info and then watched the movie. Seriously if it wasn't for Yuzuru I would never even knew about that moivie, etc. But I am naturally curious like that. Even if I don't like something at first I dig into the information and then either say- "okay, not my cup of tea" or "ma-a-an, there's life on this planet!" And after seeing SEIMEI at ACI I can definitely say- there's so much life on that planet and oh man- what a life!

What a nicely written article. It's good to read that he is so involved with choosing his music. It's probably why he looks so natural skating to Seimei. I absolutely love the strong drum beats and the step sequence just fits so perfectly. Haha but it would not be Hanyu if he didn't max out his base value, for sure his team is going to rework it to a lv 4

I don't know... too exhausting a step sequence and the quad after may become unnatainable. Maybe it was designed as level 3 but Yuzu missed something.

After rewatching practice video I agree costume needs to be more tighten to show his lines in choreography

I'm hoping to see some costume alterations throughout the season like we did with Ballade last year, hopefully they can make it more form fitting without losing some of the look and effect.

On the other hand, I'm so glad they got rid of that purple mesh connecting the shoulders and sleeves and love the added detail and color in the embroidery.

Yes, when I have doubts about the new costume, it is not about the embroidery at all, but rather the fitting.

I am glad and I am not the only one who thought his OP step sequence were a lot better than in the competition.
I was watching one of the many news video uploaded on dailymotion where they had a skating commentator (sorry I don't know his name) commentating through out the whole FS. (This video) Immediately after the step sequence in which he got level 2, (around 2:40 mark) the commentator commented on it being "a little not enough, maybe needs to move around a bit more" (or that's what my very limited Japanese tells me what he said), so I guess there is really something missing that trained eyes can see right away?

Reading that ice network article, I am in absolutely awe of the dedication of fans! I hope they feel that waiting/sleeping in the cold was worth their while!

As always, your posts are amazing! And you were so lucky to watch Yuzu live and show the full version of SEIMEI for the first time, and of course, getting to give him your gift personally! Sounds like you had an amazing time.
You gave us a very good insight on what the figure skating events are like when Yuzu is around, the Hanyu mania is still going strong! Here's another report written by bronze medalist Sean Rabbit. Seems like the rest of the skaters also have to mentally prepare themselves for the Hanyu mania  and it was so sweet of Yuzuru to help Sean on what he should do since it was his first international competition. He just keeps being so down to earth, humble and willing to help others, someone to look up to both on and off the ice
