I updated my fansite after Autumn Classic! Sorry I haven't done anything with it in awhile :slink: I added new media and results page for the 2015-2016 season, new magazines and books, updated links, and new poll! Comments and criticism encouraged :)

For those wondering about the audio problem, it actually happened throughout the whole Autumn Classic competition...tune suddenly goes weird...I was cringing in front of my computer and thinking that the skaters are incredible for not letting it affect them! But I guess I shouldn't complain too much since the stream was not lagging, choppy, and held on even though a lot of people were streaming. :)

In the post interviews Hanyu-san himself kept saying that "there's a week and a bit left to go...(to improve)" which made me gasp "what? SC is upon us so soon?!" I can't believe the season is starting already! Time to have zero sleeping time if I want to watch things live! ;)

Yes, I definitely heard the weird out of tune music near the beginning of the program and I was afraid that this was going to continue and put Yuzuru right off. I noticed that other skaters' programs also had occasional off key music. Terrible sound system.
OMG!!!!! I do hope that this is only happening to our live broadcast, not in the venue itself!
Can anyone who watched this live tell us of there's this out of tune in the venue (does the skaters hear this?)

I am late to the party and all but I just gotta say this long program is AMAZING. I love it. I can't wait to see it clean (hopefully) and with the passion he puts in practice run throughs.

This is the japanese video commenting each elements through SEIMEI, and step sequence, respectively.
Each word of elements is of course English, but the pronunciation is totally Japanese. Further, the explanations in Japanese are inserted. I’m expecting the words of elements can be at least understood... Sorry, if it doesn’t help.

Program overall

Around 5:20, he explains about the step sequence. He says the step seem to lack the following two requirements of the four.
Use of body movements for at least 1/3 of the pattern
Two different combinations of 3 difficult turns
As Meoima poseted, he also points out his movements were different from those in practice.

I've noticed that the first video of Yuzuru's FP run through now is over 100,000 views  I don't blame them though since I'm guilty for a lot of those views. He shines the most at his practices, I wish he could be as fluid and energetic at competitions.

There was nothing wrong with the sound quality within the venue. Everything was fine.

Agree! Though ive been really thinking if yuzuru did SLOW DOWN in this competition to reserve his energy? What I mean is, he's a high level professional who can analyze what went wrong with his quads by just looking at the marks he left on the ice.i dont know if im "sour graping" or not but i guess yuzuru knows whERE when to hold back as well as let loose himself depending on the competition he's in.(im not sure but during his disaster at COC even though hes got a bandage in his head, his spins were understandably slow but still the quality was there)
Yuzu is perfectly healthy at AC yet,hE seems to take things easy.
AM I EVEN MAKING SENSE?

Well, apparently the lack of speed was the reason he failed the 3rd quad and I don't think slow spins is something that a skater would intentionally do (I don't know about odd situations like COC though, who knows) I think sometimes he slows down just because of the tension/tiredness, really. I think he's he kind of the skater that when in competitions the performance ends up suffering a bit.

The commentator for one of the Japan Broadcasts, Minoru Sano was actually quite critical of Yuzu's performance of Seimei at Autumn Classic. He seemed to want and expect much more from Yuzu in the steps, jump success rate etc. -He is not too negative, but he wants more!
Mostly, I love the make up of the program, I'm relieved at the great start he's got, but the potential is so much higher than in previous seasons we are all impatient to see even better performances.
We know Yuzu can do it and we hold him to a much higher standard than the ones we set for other skaters.

 Constructive criticism is good IMO, its the only way anyone can improve.

I think we should be happy that currently he is just as he is right now.
I don't want him to peak too early. So yes they expect highly from him, it's irrational in my opinion because it's still early season and all people who understand this sport know that great and super clean performance in the very first competition has no meaning when it's 6 months latter at World Championship. Of course if he did too badly it's alarming but he did so so and it's so obvious he has ok preparation. So he is as he is now, it's perfect in my view as he still has room to grow more. He understands that and stays humble. All of the expectation they're throwing at him, I find it irrational that maybe they want him to be super clean while we all know his record to skate quite meh at the early season. For now it doesn't matter if they rave about him like crazy or not, he doesn't need the gushing from the media. He needs competitions to get feedback from the judges and to know which he lacks and in which part of the programs he need to improve and upgrade.

Don't forget that in the practice video with better step sequence, etc. he intentionally SKIPPED two quads and the 3F so of course had more energy later in the program.

Not sure what you mean by "sour grapes"? Do you mean disappointed that some parts of the actual performance were not as strong as practice. By the same token, however, some parts of the practice were weaker.

LOL about Yuzuru taking things easy. He looked exhausted by the end to me, hanging over with hands on knees.

ITA, sure, it's normal that people expect a lot from Yuzu, he's the Olympic Champion after all. But not even Plushy on his best years could deliver perfectly every single time, let alone in the first competition of the season, when he's still getting used to compete with that program, getting used to the 3rd quad, and at a competition where he didn't have to be absolutely perfect to win. I think it was a solid start, we know he's not one to have his best showings on the first few events. To me, it's one of the charms of figure skating, seeing how the skater's programs evolve throughout the season. This is particularly noticeable with Yuzu, as Brian said, he never gives the same performance twice. I'm excited to see how he'll perform it at SC.

To me there is no doubt his programs will improve to perfection. What I'm worried about is whether the COSTUMES would evolve with it.
:hopelessness: (I love the second version. Just the fitting..please?)

aaaand here I go with the costume again...

Totally agree with u!

Ikr!!! I thought my ears went wrong or my internet is the culprit!

I can't imagine if I was skating and this sound happened to my music lols!!

LOL that would be such a bummer and can ruin your focus lol. But I think it was fine in the arena, it's just the problem with the audio online streaming and not happening in the actual sound system in the arena.

This is quite interesting, it appears that his stsq traces out a Yin/Yang sign on the ice? A fan was marking down his turns/steps and this is what they ended up with. Maybe someone can kindly translate what they said? Is it just a coincidence or was it planned? Balance of the spiritual and the physical, the good and the bad, the yin and the yang...SEIMEI??

WHOA that's impressive!! Imagine how complicated it is to create such detail while incorporating the elements of the step. (also, that person has the time in the world to actually do the graph haha)

Aaw that's so cute!! Yuzu sure is huggable

And just like Meoima said, it's unrealistic to always keep expecting him to always deliver perfect or close to perfect performance every single time. Especially this early to the season, the perfect outcome isn't what is desired the most, rather a chance to look into every bit of the elements of the program and see which ones should and can be improved or fixed. I think he himself is very aware of people's expectation and that just makes him want to strive just a little more for the best. I just hope it won't weigh him or burden him too much.
Some people sometimes are just so critical towards someone/something that I personally think it's unrealistic (lol again) for me to wish them think otherwise because they just couldn't help it.

Thanks for sharing the medal ceremony fancam!!
