2015 Skate America Mens FS Oct 24

And Han Yan is a complete snooze fest for me at this point. I'm sorry.

I like him and I want him to do well but.....nothing is coming together this season. He looks like a deer in headlights out on the ice. :slink: He needs to add some fire, spunk, melodrama, or anything really.

I was really disappointed with Han Yan's FS. It COULD have been so much more...he has the skills for it, but it was so empty.

Mura NEEDS to win gold in something...let's give him Gold for most memorable costume.
-It was better when it was blue. I don't know why they chose grey. That's like skydiving from a plane and deciding half way that you'd rather not. Go all the way!

He already has two GP golds, and won Four Continents. ;)

Although he definitely gets the Razzie for Costuming.

He deserved low 70's for PCS. Exactly what in his skating deserved higher than a 7.5 for any given component? He didn't even "skate clean".

 Right.

And Adian probably deserved mid-8's in your books. :rolleye: "SHHHH!!!! QUIET YOUUU GUYS! HE'S SKATING!!!!1"

His TR/CH/IN scores were well below Brown/Uno. His skating skills were on par (probably due to his speed -- his jumps were flying with good flow on the exit, whereas Brown/Uno had iffy landings. Performance wise he didn't fall or have scratchy landings other than the 2A; and he executed two quads and two triple axels. And while he didn't skate clean, he was still the cleanest of the bunch. At some point skaters need to be rewarded for their difficulty and skating cleanly, and while Uno was good, he still has many juniorish qualities and had his landings been more solid he totally would have won. Both were overscored, too... I personally would have had Uno's PCS around 81 and Max's around 78, but same result.

The only thing more satisfying than Max's win is seeing haters' minds explode with it.

Shona seems like he is very serious and honestly a little awkward (it's cute!) so I don't think that photo means anything.

Shoma was definitely a bitter betty out there, but he's young so hopefully he'll handle defeats better as he ages.

Congrats to Max and Jason.

No, no he really wasn't. As has been said, that is his face. He very rarely smiles broadly. He is shy, easily embarrassed, doesn't seem to like photos and can look like that when he wins. Maybe he would like the gold, who wouldn't, but please don't start some sore loser meme.

Anyway, congrats, to Shoma on a wonderful silver medal at your first GP! I am so happy that he rallied in the FS!

Congrats to Max and Jason too!

Seriously hope Shoma grows at least 3 inches in the next few years. I will be sad if the men's world champion is as tall as Evgenia. He always goes for the dramatic/"I am so profound" type of performance, and thinking he is 17 with a baby looking face creeps me a little. At times I feel he is also trying to be sexy in his moves. That's just my interpretation though.
FYI Zhenya is taller than Shoma. Just sayin.

You obviously don't know Shoma very well. He IS smiling.

And why the congrats for just Max and Jason? You're forgetting the silver medalist.

Congrats to all the medallists, that was a pretty great podium. I wasn't sure about Shoma's non-smile at first, but when they went all close up I could see it lurking there so he was pretty happy I think.

Honestly, I only enjoyed Max's smile in the K&C. I didn't really enjoy any of the FS here. :confused2:

Congrats to all the medalists :agree:

Me: *picked Max to win* ;)

:agree:

I'm sure you were one of the very few who predicted that! SA was pretty crazy overall. Men were :drama:, S/K upsetting in dance, the other Russian S/K underperforming in pairs, Evgenia beating Satoko, Yulia just missing the top 5....

I think for SC I'll just use the randomizer :p

Actually, I just had another look, and I got the top 5 100% right except for the order - I had Jason 2nd and Shoma 3rd, and Han Yan and the Silver Fox the wrong way around.

Also had Brendan 6th so clearly I overestimated his slay count  But not by much!
