I think the same, it was not correct for him. His quads were amazing.
But his fight and his programme were very beautiful and I think in NHK he will improve the executions.

Isn't there already a soundtrack? Can we get out the word that Sony sucks and that everyone should go buy the old album and boycott the new release? :sarcasm: here's a hint: pissing off your target group is the best strategy to sell more albums. Good call.
 
OMG HI GUYS!!! Was pretty busy today but I finally got to watch it and YEAY I'm glad my feeling was proven right! Great comeback! He's such a tough cookie I'm proud of him! :2thumbs:

His music is so entrancing throughout and I feel like everyone couldn't help but bask in it. The audience seems appreciative which is good! Also, great job on those quads!! Salchow was great but a little screechy on the toe. Shame about the first 3A combination, he didn't have a good landing for that.. and that last lutz!!! :palmf: haha but it's ok I noticed that halfway he looked pretty drained already but he fought through it, hard. And I admire him for that. Just like Brian said, a little more conditioning and he'll get better. He'll be motivated to perfect those jumps.. and also his stamina. I believe he'll improve as time goes on. All in all this is the first big competition.

He looked so fierce from the beginning and when it ended his face (and hair flip lol) was on point!

His program is very demanding (especially for him) and jam-packed with stuff (which if he manages to pull it off it'll be superb) that IDG people who said it's 'empty'..

It's nice hearing their conversation in the kiss&cry and him speaking English is adorable!! Did y'all notice he said that he failed on something. That last remark after the score though... :laugh: oh Brian.. that's an understatement and Yuzu's face lol.

So yes I'm happy that he's happy. This result is good since he's able to redeem himself and produced such a performance.

That interview! So proud of him trying to speak English and the fact that he's confident enough to do it. He'll only get better. :agree:

Oh and sorry for you guys who's been having trouble with the audio.. that sucks :bang:

Ok, first program with 3 quads but also... first conference in english:eeking: :clap:
Wow I can't believe already 186p and it's the first event of the season.

I don't think it was inflation.
I don't think it was extra points for being a Canadian in Canada.
I don't think it was Hanyu being "held back" by skating earlier.

Chan was simply "on fire", and did everything near-perfect.
So he got high Grades of Execution for nearly everything, mostly +2's.
(It's not as if he got row after row of "outrageous" +3's across the board or anything)
And those +GoE points really add up, just look at the protocols.
I don't see anything obvious to complain about, regarding the technical score.
(I wouldn't even argue about his PCS either)

As always, we shouldn't just look at what a skater didn't do... we must look at what they did do.
All the other jumps he did, even though "only triples", were worth a lot of points, because they were done so well.

Hanyu has a much higher base value, a much higher scoring potential.
But to make that extra difficulty "pay", he needs to peform his elements "cleanly", and get those extra GoE points.
He doesn't necessarily need to be perfect, just better than last night.

We all know Hanyu is not at his best at his first competitions of the season. I'm sure he will improve in the following weeks/months - get more comfortable with his programs... make adjustments... add more polish, refinement and expression... skate more cleanly. His scores will rise accordingly.

And when he also performs his SP without giving away about 20 points... he's likely to be unbeatable...!

I don't think Patrick was overscored (at least not at pcs, but maybe at GOEs), but Yuzu looked a little bit tired. Almost 89 looks fine to me. I'm sure at the next events he'll get 91 and also better GOEs for some jumps (I would have given him more for that beautiful 4S that's getting better and better)

With the problems at 4T at SP..why not consider the 4S?:biggrin:
