Totally agree with you @yuzuplease, I tuned in to watch this year's CoC and wow, there sure is going to be a lot to talk about in both the men's and ladies' field after this event.

Boyang seems to be an extremely eager jumper, I congratulate him for that but the SS need to improve if he wants to be a contender to the top guys(Yuzu, Patrick, Javi) eventually. While watching his FS, I thought of how figure skating as a sport not only includes jumping but also includes artistic presentation which in all, is very important as a whole. What I enjoy about watching figure skating is how skaters express themselves artistically and share the experience with the audience, not just by watching them land jumps. So I'm sure Yuzuru will be fine since he possesses the true essence and heart of figure skating. (apologies for the cheesiness of the last sentence)

Agree. That’s why I watch FS and love him for sure :luv17: though having the type of a skater like Boyang as a Yuzuru’s competitor in the future that will make the men’s field more interesting.

After seeing today judges PCS love I have started to have doubts about Hanyu PCS at Skate Canada :handw:

Agree. It's just ridiculous that Fernandez got 91 in PCS for that performance, lol.
Now, I believe Yuzuru has to nail his sp at GPF. If he does not, the judges will likely seize this chance to lowball him on goe and pcs in the lp, and we can't even complain about it because there will always be 'objective' fans who will defend the judges and call us subjective.

But anyways, I'm sure that Yuzu knows the situation better than anyone else. I have faith in him. Gooooooo Yuzuuuuuu!:clapper:

It's not very accurate to compare PCS between competitions. Yuzuru was against a skater of his own caliber (Patrick). Who, on top of everything, was skating at home. While there was no one in COC who, in PCS, could match Javier's numbers. When that happens, judges go a bit overboard with the scores. I'm pretty sure that, had Yuzuru or Patrick been at COC, Javi's PCS would have been different, unless they had made too many mistakes like what happened at Worlds. And I'm also sure Yuzu's PCS in the FS will be much better at NHK, he's got no competition in PCS there, and he's at home :gclap:
I want to wait until the GPF when we'll see all these guys directly competing with each other to see who has the upper hand in PCS and who has it in TES ;)

I'm not going to get into such things again, in Yuzuru's fan thread... Except to say this:

Before complaining about scores (for yes, sometimes there are things to complain about - just not as much as some would have us believe)... then at least make sure you know exactly what you're complaining about!

By which I mean - If someone asked you to describe your complaint in terms of specific PCS criteria, specific GoE bullet points, the technical calls for each element in relation to the performances on the night, and the scores/values shown in the protocols... could you do it? It not then frankly, you don't actually know what you're complaining about, and shouldn't be complaining...!

I really don't think you can compare. At COC, the judges went all in on the PCS for Javier to make sure that he won against Boyang. But it is not really an indication on how Javi compares to Yuzu (or Chan or Denis)

TBH I think Yuzu's PCS in LP are hammered by not so good SP....When was the last time he skated clean SP? At the Olympics? I love his Ballade no. 1 but I think it's just unlucky program for him....He should just simplify it a little bit or we're going to see more splatfest from him....

Imo Javi's PCS are ok. The thing is that it's easier to get 90+ (easier for skaters like him, Yuzu or Patrick) PCS when you are the only one at that level in the whole competition. At SC judges had to look both at Yuzu and Patrick.

I can't wait for the GPF

and I'm still looking forward to see a clean Ballade n1 :agree2:

Unless the spaniard gets some help from the judges, I think the battle for gold will be between Patrick and Yuzu. Patrick can get 190+ in the lp with just 1 quad, and his form should be better at GPF than at SC.

:shame: is my reaction when at SC they only reward quality and today CoC they only reward quantity. :gaah:

But nevertheless it's a challenge Yuzuru must go through, either he ditches that annoying 3lz3T and do at least a 4T2T and 4S, or else Chopin might never be clean. I'm angry. :angry2:

I don't think so...Everyone is talking about inflation and Hanyuflation but from couple of season we have massive Fernandezflation. Yes, Javier is a great skater, yes he's improving, but come on...he's SS are nowhere near to Yuzuru's and Chan's. I saw him live in Barcelona last year and compare to Yuzuru he was pretty slow and there was no excitement in his skating (the audience went mad after his free skate but that was expected). I think the GPF title is his to lose.

I think it's highly unlikely Chan can even repeat a performance like SC, never mind better it...!

Remember he gave that naughty 4s two seasons to stabilize? Trust me he will not give up on 3lz3t:dbana:
Yeah, I'm also very angry today, but I don't know whom am I angry with.
Thrice has he cleaned Chopin: GPF14 OP, WTT OP, SC OP. Never in actual competition. I am prepared for a repeat of this pattern.

My 2 cents: The GPF will be held in Spain. Judges want to help Javi qualify for the final because Javi is the only reason GPF is held in Spain. Spain doesn't have any other skaters that have the potential to qualify for the final. Local attendance depends on Javi's qualification. The ISU also gave Javi two easy assignments to help him qualify.

Sorry, I don't want to trigger more discussions on this. Please don't reply to my post.

I know it wouldn't really work in the program but I think Yuzu should move the 3Z3T as the 1st jumping element to his SP. Obviously the 3A is his favourite jump and the easiest for him so putting it last wouldn't be a problem and I think the combination would have a better percentage rate of success at the beginning of the program.
In the FS idk. Because his technique on the lutz when he is tired definitely handicaps him so putting it last after a 3 quad program is not the best idea. But at the same time, if he falls on it, it is the last jump and won't unsettle him for the other jumps that would come afterwards if he moved it sooner.

Reminder of Fan Fest rules
Fan Fest posters should be able to "gush," but NOT at the expense of another skater or of another skater's fans. That's just rude and and not very constructive.
It's very hard to compare competition to competition because while the system is supposed to be absolute (hence the idea of World Records, etc), different technical panels, judges, "atmosphere of the audience", other competitors that are there, skate order, etc, can influence the scores. I personally wouldn't worry about 88 PCS compared to 95 or 91 or whatever, barring a disaster all three of these skaters will make it to the GPF where hopefully Hanyu will perform his FS so overwhelmingly as if to say "I'm going to win this, and nobody will be able to deny me!!" What excites me the most is that this is probably his best 1st GP performance overall, and yet still there is so much room for his programs to grow technically/artistically :dance2:
