A fair way to pick GPF finalists?

let' s not go back to sochi… i was simply replying to a comment posted earlier, didn't intend to reopen this whole can of worms in three posts we will have a tuna vs adelina comment if we don't go back to the GPF topic anyone has heard when the isu is planning to confirm what's going on? I would be thinking they would prior to the next GP which is… erm… SOON

Anyone know when the announcement is supposed to be made? I'm getting kind of nervous and kind of excited and preparing myself for the forum battle ahead. May the discussion stay civil enough that this thread will stay open...

Maybe another fair solution would be, for TEB skaters, to weigh their TEB result 1/4 and their other result 3/4 for purposes of GPF qualification.
TEB: 1/3 complete
Other event: 3/3 complete
Total: 4/3 complete
This accounts for the SP result counting, but only to the extent a SP is valued relative to a SP + LP. So, Patrick's placement would be:
1 + 1 + 1 + 5 = 8 divided by 4 = 2, so the equivalent of two 2nd place finishes.

Drawback: It gives more relative weight to the other event for TEB skaters than for others. Patrick's and Max's first place finishes are wighted by 75%, while Fernandez victory at Cup of China is weighted only by 50%.

Example: Skater A gets first in another event, 2nd in TEB. He ends up with 29 points.

Skater B gets first in one event, second in another. He ends up with 28 points.

The longer the meeting goes on, the more likely it is that they will come up with a complicated scheme and make me look foolish for going with the simple "short program = everything" method.

I think 10 is too much, 8 is just fine, it will probably increase costs for Feds to send their skaters and make accommodations, 10 is not necessary me thinks

I honestly think more skaters (I mean 8, not 10) will be better option for everyone: skaters themself, federations, spectators etc. Except maybe organizers

Having 10 skaters in the field should be no problem, as it is actually fewer than the 12 that are generally entered for a regular GP event.

And a regular GP event also includes some Junior GP events and throws in some synchronized skating for good measure? Hasn't someone in this thread calculated that adding even 2 skaters per discipline would already push the limits of a 24h day? (I'm not saying that I'm against this solution. I have also said that they should add a few spots. I'm just wondering if adding quite so many is actually practical)
