Alexei Urmanov: With Lipnitskaya work with pleasure

On Wednesday it became known about the care of the Olympic champion team tournament Julia Lipnitskaya from his coach Eteri Tutberidze. The new coach has become a figure skater Alexei Urmanov, who is now in Sochi. Olympic champion in 1994 confirmed the browser Sovsport.ru fact of transition, however, more detailed comment on it declined.

- Going to happen in the coming days. We are pleased to work with a very talented athlete - said Urmanov, who is now the competition in Tallinn with another student.

- Lipnitskaya lives in Moscow, you work in Sochi. Who will move somewhere - you in Moscow or in Sochi it?

- I can not comment at this moment the question. As far as I know, Julia told his coach that they complete joint activities, today only. By training together, we have not yet begun. Just right now, such things do not happen.

Thanks for this connection. Watching Gubanova on youtube, she is another Yulia, richly expressive, passionate, spiritual and a perfectionist. This suggests the jump expert Urmanov has an affinity for Yulia's style, hence a good fit. Remember that Eteri brought Yulia and Marina together. I have no doubt that Eteri will do all she can to restore Yulia's success.

Gubanova's style/packaging comes from Angelina Turenko, who also worked with Gosviani.

I wouldn't say that they are similar:P Both are very talented, obviously, but have different strengths
 
Their relationship has reached a dead end after the Olympics. Eteri did not know what to do with the problems of growing up Julia and the changes of her body. The decision to replace a coach the only possible one. It is a pity that lost a season and a half.

You are no doubt right about their different strengths. I should have said their ethereal, musical interpretations affect me the same way. So it's a plus if Urmanov worked successfully with Gubanova because Yulia needs someone who is on the same page artistically. Thanks for giving me a chance to clarify my remark. I'd be the last person on this forum to judge skaters' strengths.
 
I'm happy to learn that Yulia has left Eteri, i don't think she was the right coach for her but at the same time i think Tutberize is a good trainer, maybe now she can focus on Medvedeva, another very strong skater on her crew.
I hope Yulia can fix her jump with this new coach.
 
It's bittersweet, but so, so exciting! Yulia and Eteri had a good run, and I'm sure she was supportive of this transition. Also I think their paths will cross again in the future.

I'm not too sure how to respond to the coaching change because I don't know that much about Eteri. But I'm definitley not against it. If it's what's right for Yulia then it's good that she made the decision. Whatever she does, I'll always support Yulia! :)
 
I think the sport-express article hits it on the head regarding Yulia's problems. She burned her fingers in Sochi, and Eteri wasn't there to catch her when she fell. It's clear that chances are rather slim for Yulia to resolve her problems all by herself, and with Eteri being busy with Evgenia I don't know what Sergei could have done for her. So a change of coach is a chance. Let's pray she picked the right one. As a Mishin student Urmanov should know a thing or two about the right jump technique, but even more important is the right chemistry between him and her.

Let this be the turning point to the light. :2thumbs:

I think changing coaches is a good move, because something obviously burned out, you could see it very well in Skate America's K&C. But I wouldn't blame anyone or overanalyze the situation, like Ms. Vaitzehovskaia did - I think she is right in some places and her overall intuition about topic is right, but she is apparently biased and snarky in many aspects. She has the right to write her articles, I just hope skaters and coaches don't read them. :p
Anyway, I've been reading Russian internet for couple of hours now and I tell you, this country is crazy about skating. :biggrin:
My brain will soon explode with all the theories regarding who approached whom and when (Mishin, Buyanova, Pogorilaya, Sima, Rukavitsin, The Holy Ghost, year ago, before the season, now), who advocated for whom (TAT, sport minister, feds, Putin, Obama), who is guilty of what, entitled to what, should be gracious for what, who promoted whom, etc.. :drama:
Maybe with one exception: most people agree, that Zhenya naturally, unintentionally "squeezed" Julia out of the team and I don't disagree - even if they were best friend ever, it could be hard for Julia to stay - she certainly needs more time and attention than she can possibly get, when her colleague is shining bright in her inaugural season and need at least the same dose of attention.
I can't say I'm uber confident, but I'm certainly excited to see what young coach like Urmanov can do and if Julia continues to smile like in Bordeaux. :)

I think this is important - most likely this decision was already made prior to TEB (probably explains why Dudakov was there instead of Eteri), which means Yulia is at peace with it and thinks its best for her.
 
Does anybody know when we will see Yulia skating again in a competition?
Changing coach seems to imply that she will definitely not be in Boston for the 2016 World Cup.:sad4:

Among many things she amazed me, she used to choose all the musics by herself. I think she is at her best when she does so. I hope she will continue choosing the musics/stories she truly believes in.

With the new coach, I wish her all the best.

She should be at Russian Nationals and if she pulls off a couple of good skates there she has an outside chance of going to Euro's. It might not be the greatest chance but we will just have to see how she does and if she is regaining confidence. There is a possibility of her doing Russian Cup events too later in the season. I hope she does some ice shows this summer in addition to working on her jumps. Work in progress for sure but she isn't done yet. There is always hope.
