Yulia Lipnitskaya

That's what you have you for. Start working on it.

LOL...never

*hand on heart*
Thou shan't ever write an unauthorized biography or screenplay on thy favourite baby Russian (without her permission) on pain of death(stare).:laugh2:

But I'm fairly certain others won't pass up the chance.

PS: all these skater Periscope vids from COR makes me wish that Yulia would join in on the Periscope-craze and vlog from Sochi, but it sooooooo ain't gonna happen. :sad21:

I'm not sure if you got my last message but do you know where I can find the clips of Yulia with kovtun?
I saw it somewhere on vk, can't remember where exactly - I'm following plenty of skaters and communities there and notoriously jumping from page to page like a little baby seeing candies with "figurnoe katanye" on them.

Plushyfan shared this on the Plushy fan thread:

http://doverennielitsa.ru/moskva/per...pnickoy-smenit

The decision skater Julia Lipnitskaya change of coach (go on Eteri Tutberidze Alexei Urmanova) should not be taken as something extraordinary. "There is a very good coach, a great professional - Alexei Urmanov. He once trained with my coach, Alexei Mishin. Urmanov well know figure skating technique. If the athlete felt the need to change the coach, it is her right and her decision. And there is nothing wrong here, "- said Evgeni Plushenko.

"God grant that machinery Julia Lipnitskaya recovered! God grant that they have formed a tandem of "teacher-student" that they worked in the right direction. I think that they will succeed! We hope that in the future it will continue to represent Russia at the international competitions, "- said Evgeni Plushenko.

And about the rumour that Mishin was somehow involved, at the end of this interview - shared by silverfoxes, also on the Plushy fan thread (ETA - Just for the sake of accuracy: Actually the Liza fan thread - pardon!) - Mishin is asked about this:

http://www.allsportinfo.ru/index.php?id=99507

(via Google translate)
"- On fan sites have appeared that Olympic champion in the team Yulia Lipnitskaya begged to you in a group - and that you advised her to turn to Alexei Urmanova. Is that really true?
- This information does not comment. There is such a thing as a coaching ethics. And I always stick to it. "

So, make of that what you will.:)

Meanwhile, my musical choice for Julia:

Talia's Theme

Good luck, Julia - may this change be for the better for you, let you come back strong & happy!:)

Based on this, I wonder if Yulia wanted someone who was known as a jump expert for a coach. I don't think we'll ever truly know whether the change was because she and Eteri just stopped working, or whether she thought that Eteri wouldn't be able to give her what she needed. It seems pretty obvious that she turned to Mishin (to me at least), but it's not surprising he didn't take her, considering he has Liza as a big priority. I thought it was very kind of him to give her a little advice.

I also thinks she's just not Mishin's type of skater to be honest... he tends IMO to gravitate toward more powerful skaters. (Hopefully it's clear what I mean by this, I am not trying to say anything bad about Julia). He's also commented that he actually does not really enjoy needing to completely rework jump technique with skaters and prefers to take skaters with solid technique at this point. It's possible he felt her technique was going to need too much reworking on some of the jumps and he didn't have the inclination. Additionally, as you say, he has Liza, though in Russia this is sometimes less of a 'big deal' than in other countries... big name skaters often end up needing to skate together in the same group. But maybe he felt he didn't have enough time for Julia too in light of his other skaters, especially if part of what Julia wanted was a lot of individual attention and more ice time... he might also have realized if she came to him she'd end up having the same complaints.

I couldn't possibly comment.

I do not think she is Mishin's type of skater either and for all the respect I have towards him because he is a true genius when it comes to jumps and their technique, I do not like other aspects of skating in his students.
Furthermore, Mishin doesn't have only Liza but also some young talented skaters who have huge potential, so he might feel he has enough, or he might think she is hopeless. Who knows.

If Julia asked to go to camp Mishin you can bet a lot of it has to do with Liza. She seems to look to Liza as a friend and somewhat of a mentor I believe.

She really looks to be truly happy during her TEB SP. Thr beginning is a bit more serious but once she gets to the steps she just seems to radiate. None more so during this pic from the StSeq.

You got me hooked on this piece :)

Good - I'm glad. Addictive, isn't it? (beams)

In my head this is "Julia's music" - it's just so her; silly as it is, I'd probably feel very strange if anyone else skated to it... (Not, of course, that anyone is likely to skate to it - more's the pity - but still... )

Thomas Bergersen and Yulia are a perfect match. I'm would love to see her skate to his music. A while back I did this video using Bergersen's piece "Heart".

Beautiful choice - thanks for sharing that! (Yes, Heart is one of my favourites also - what I love about Bergersen, though, or one of the things I love, is the wide variety of types of music - Starvation, for example, wouldn't exactly fit Julia.;))

Me too. I love him for the wide variety. :) I want Stolbova&Klimov to skate to his music too. Chase the Light (Amaria) maybe, or Children of the Sun. Stravation may be not right for her but I'm convinced that she needs her strong look back and she can kill a strong music. ;)

In that vein - what about Salvation?:) :

Though I probably should stop now - I'm tempting you into highjacking the thread into a TSFH discussion.:)

ETA - Or... music with a little more strength, yet might suit Julia - how about

Colin Frake?

Addictive is a right word :agree2: It will be Julia's music from now on for me too ;)

Beautiful! The "Win with your heart" motto has a new meaning now for me :cool2:
