So Jason has been able to celebrate Thanksgiving, Jordan's birthday, and Hanukkah with his family :).

(Last year, IN had an article about the Aaron family starting its celebration of Hanukkah before its actual dates -- to take advantage of Max and Maddie being home in Arizona for Thanksgiving.)

I do think Stitch's point is well taken that Thanksgiving prob. is a relatively opportune time for any U.S. skater to take a little breather away from her/his training base.

I am not familiar with how Hanukkah is scheduled, but wasn't there a year or two ago when Hanukkah started on Thanksgiving night? I remember chatter about how perfect "Thanksgivukkah" was going to be.

I do think Thanksgiving weekend or the weekend afterwards would be a perfect time to take a long weekend before (what I assume) how hectic December training is going to be. I have wondered how much more intense doing an event like Golden Spin or the Grand Prix Final could be for these skaters - especially if they don't skate well.

Nothing official as far as the injury or the rest of the season goes. He was at least well enough to go to a rock concert with Joe Johnson (I think - I can't find the Instagram) last month. Which only says he can handle the crowd and loud music.

When Josh and/or his team want to give us an update, they'll let us know. Until then, I will just continue to wish him well.

I looked up last year's article about the Aarons, which said:

US Fans, as there is no US Man in the GPF, I started to wonder how well our skaters who don't make the final have done at Worlds. It appears that Jason Brown's 4th place finish is a high as we've been since Evan way back in 2010. For some reason I thought Jeremey Abbott must have made the Final in 2014. What happened that year?

Is Evan's Win the last time a US Man made the Podium?

Just for clarification, Evan won the GPF in 2009, though it was the 2009-2010 season. Johnny was on the podium as well the same year. That was the last year any American man stood on the GPF podium.

Evan is the last U.S. man to stand on the World podium (2009). Johnny won World bronze the year before.

Jeremy Abbott won the GPF the previous year in 2008. (Johnny was on that podium as well). Jeremy placed 3rd & 6th during his Grand Prix events in 2013 and 5th & 5th in 2014.

Interestingly, American men stood on the Junior Grand Prix Final podium every year between 2002 and 2013. And Nathan and Vincent are in the JGP Final now.

The GPF (December) and Worlds (March) are two separate competitions with different qualifying / selection procedures. To date, Jason has not qualified for the GPF. However, he was sent to Worlds last year and placed fourth.

BTW, possible that Jason has returned to Colorado.
Last night, he tweeted a photo of himself with Kori's kids. Not clear whether the cute photo was taken yesterday, but maybe so.

If Nathan pulls that off, it would be huge! Also I bet he would go for a quad toe in the short when he is at Nationals. (The quad is not allowed in the SP at the junior level).

Looking forward to the competition.

Omg! He is finally injury free and decides to attempt 4 quads?!? :hopelessness: Good luck Nathan, cant wait to see his SP! :love:
 
I'd hate to see him lose the JGPF title going for 4 quads in the FS. Seems a bit much at this time.

I found your previous post confusing to read because although you initially mentioned both the GPF and Worlds, you appeared to me to be conflating the two in your questions about Lysacek and Abbott

I hope Nathan is not ditching the 3a in his FS and still tries one. He can't just rely on quads, the 3a is important, if he doesn't master that jump, it will give him trouble in seniors, look at Chan and Lambiel. So if he's going for 4 quads and still trying a 3a, good for him. I just hope he's not putting all his money in the quad basket, since he's abandoned the 3a in the past and finally seemed to be gaining some consistency on that jump this season. Plus, because juniors can't do a quad in the SP, it's crucial that he lands the 3a!

He is going for one 3A in his long program, at least.
 
Nathan better be careful he doesn't zayak with that layout! All those jumps involving quad toes, triple toes, and double toes :hopelessness:.

A fall on one of those quads will still give him a chance to win, but popping could be a zayak disaster.
