I take it as a performance. Yuzu is playing the part for the job. -And doing it very well.

Okay, that piqued my interest. I am obviously missing something here. What is he portraying? What is he supposed to look like, a pop idol? Is this really how they show pop idols? Because honestly, I don't get it. I really think, and I am sorry for the choice of words, he looks boring or bland in these photos.
But yeah, me big fan of colors (no doubt one of the reasons why I have always been attracted to this skater).

Anyway, had a good night's rest (this hotelroom, in the city itself, is so quiet, it's like you're alone in the desert or something). Off to get a delicious breakfast and then slowly make my way to Diagonal Mar and the CCIB, see if the madness has descended there yet. ;-)

I am very sorry that you don't get the beauty of Yuzu in the Anan photos.
I personally think he looks super cute in them.
Yuzu looks adorable in any colors to me.

BTW, perceiving white is perceiving all colors in human visual system. You could look it up in any basic perceptual psychology textbooks.
(Just out of curiosity, how long have you been a Yuzu fan? Are you Asian?
No need to answer my nonsense questions, but I am guessing you are not quite familiar with the Asian way of posing cuteness. It's just a cultural thing.)

Yuzu fans are of diverse nationalities, cultures and demographics.

There are Yuzu magazines for everyone taste:
- ANAN for a boy next door in a simple parisian chic casual wear
- This one for costumes in colours
- And plenty like this with his colourful skating costumes :biggrin:

Examples and I avoided showing the half-naked ones
- Western magazines: #1, #2, #3
- ANAN #1, #2, 1 Direction.

It would be great to just do research without having to teach.
For us university faculties, job loading is insane! So challenging.....
It's always good when we have Yuzu in between all sorts of challenges, knowing that even if you fall, there are always ways to get up, regroup and keep going.

I like the photos better after seeing the behind the scene footage - he looks like he was having fun, doing something he doesn't normally do and accepting the challenge with great confidence. I would hate it if it was a case of being forced to perform but it didn't look that way.

I am glad people have diverse opinion regarding this though. It shows how amazing that we come to agree about his skating!
 
...er... I'm on the I like the ANAN magazine photoshoot team- but more importantly, how does one get hold of the magazine if one is not in Japan? I tried amazon jp but that was a fail.

Yup, in the stylized asian way, these kinds of magazines sell a 'certain kind' of image. Like Vogue has a look, anan has a look. So when Yuzu agreed to appear on the magazine he would have been expected to match the 'look'...and thankfully he was able to do so whilst still looking 'cool' and 'cute' rather than 'pouty' and 'sexy' like some of those other covers :palmf:.

Exactly, we should be happy that they did not ask him (maybe they dare not) to look "pouty and sexy" :dumb: Lol compare to the poses most actors and idols have done on Asian Magazine... :biggrin: I'd say Yuzuru's Anan photoshoot is pretty much for CHILDREN. :handw:

Now I see that a lot of you guys aren't really familiar with such concept/look in Asia and I get it and it's ok if it's not of everyone's taste. I think what's important is, again, he did enjoy the shoot and can be himself still, even if he's styled differently that what we're used to see. Then again that's the point of photo shoot.. to create a look that is somehow different but still made (can be argued) to suit the personality. All in all it's for publication purpose.
I kind of left out the fact that I've been in the 'idols business' thingy for years so the look he had, I got accustomed to it way before it happened. I think that just because he has never really had the look before doesn't mean it doesn't suit him/it's not him.. though again it's subjective and depends on the look/concept and each personality/figure. But again, he looked comfortable (and good/cute) in it and that's the most important. Definitely that concept over anything weird/high fashion (because sometimes I just don't get what they call 'high fashion' lol).

Anyway I supposed tomorrow we'll start getting more news about practice and such?

My husband went to a covenience shop this morning around 9:00 o'clock (he is working at home) to buy his cigarettes and tried to buy ANAN magazine for me, but already sold out at one shop, and he got the last one at another shop.

Yuzuru is surely contributing to Japanese economy in various ways. I feel he is regarding this type of things as his job. I remember someone on TV said that Yuzuru is a great actor in a meaning and playing the role of "Yuzuru Hanyu" perfectly. This is not a bad meaning at all, and the person said this with a sense of respect.

ANAN magazine wanted him to portray "a great athlete but a boy-next-door at the same time", he perfectly responded to that. KATEIGAHO wanted him to portray "a young athlete who values Japanese traditions", and he responded to that perfectly as well. And actually he has these characters in him, which is so magnetic.

It's so amazing. He is only 21, but has already achieved so many titles and records, and still responding to people's expectations. I'm sure one thing though. He does not necessarily dislike this situation. He himself said that he likes to attract attention and capture the audience. And not so many can experience these things, just reserved for the elite.

Again, it's so amazing. Yuzuru knows what he can and what he should do next, and keeps improving, giving us such joy to watch him.

I only want him not to push himself so hard and stay healthy.

Safe trip to those who are heading to Barcelona :agree: Enjoy the competitions, and please do not forget to report to us later :biggrin:

Looks like clean run trough of SP with two quads


after run trough he landed 7 quads including two 4T3T
