So I'm late to the party again by a day and I just finished catching up in watching Yuzuru's SP performance along with the other 5 men. Amazing! We thought maybe 106 was the limit for the SP record, but he broke it once again! How's that even possible? I'm super happy about today and hope Yuzu can continue to emit that brilliant confidence he showed here. :2thumbs:

Love his team mate relationship with Javi and hope they both do great in the free skate! This whole event so far, especially Yuzu and Javi, reminds me the exact reason why I love watching figure skating: because it is both exciting and brings joy/inspiration to the viewers.

Also, I love how the B.ESP guys are total fans of Yuzuru since it's so clear that they are very biased (in a good way) towards Yuzu when they just continue to compliment him non-stop during the Chopin performance. The commentators become so amazed that what they say is very quotable afterwards. One of my favourites I heard, "We mustn't be greedy and except the same as we saw in Japan a couple of weeks ago," is what one commentator said at the beginning and then at the end said in awe, "I said we mustn't be greedy, but we got a sumptuous feast there! And it's unbelievable, I think it was even better than the NHK!"

One question: When will CBC air the GPF 2015? I'm sure the commentators (Kurt+others) will gush over the performances again.

Okay, so it was practice, not competition, and he didn't do the whole program with the step sequences, but everything else was spot on, I think. Feeling so privileged to be here, to experience this. You never know, I thought GPF last year was the best thing ever and I would never get another chance to see Hanyu skate his heart out like this, live. And now... so, so lucky.

I do feel a bit odd here, though, in this crowd. I am in Europe, but feeling kind of out of place with an audience that at times feels like 90 % Japanese and 10 % Spanish (Pamigena mentioned something about the British eurosport guys commenting on the Spanish crowd all sporting Japanese flags, seriously, those are not Spanish fans, duh, the Spanish crowd here is really small! ). Don't get me wrong, it doesn't feel bad or anything, but it is just strange, even stranger than last year. I don't really get it, I get the sense there were a LOT more Spanish fans here last year. Now Javier is world champion, where is everybody?

I took photos of newspaper articles in Barcelona this morning, got the reports from the El Periodico, El Pais (I think?) and Vanguardia. El Pais had a photo of Yuzu. Will try and upload them later somewhere.

Back at the hotel after practice. He was just  ..... that sums it up. And that program
clean runthrough, didn't skip all too much of the whole program.

He obviously didn't feel like using the whole practice time and wanted to leave. Looked like he did some stroking practice while he was waiting for Shoma to finish his run through (not going to steal anyone's thunder, I assume) Then he did some very quick bows at the center and wanted to leave. And then he came back, skated in a circle a couple of times, did some proper bows, and then he left  we couldn't really figure out what was going on. Maybe the cameras demanded a "proper send off" of something :laugh2: when he got back to the boards it certainly looked like he was making fun of all the bowing. We had a blast.

If he was representing, say, Germany, forget about even a top 10 finish at Worlds.
I'm German. I'm willing to try this. I can totally adopt him and then we'll test that theory

Last year was just Yuzu, this year we have Yuzu and Mao. I'm sure many more fans travelled from Japan to Barcelona to just see them. Yuzu is aiming for his 3rd consecutive GPF titles, which is something no one else has done in the Men's discipline, and Mao has the possibility of becoming the first lady ever to have 5 GPF titles. Both are equally spectacular and something the fans would not want to miss. Is it possible that the local fans are just not fast enough to snatch the event tickets? Another thing is that not all Asians are Japanese. I found it funny that last year at the Worlds, the British eurosport guys were commenting on how many Japanese fans travelled from Japan to Shanghai. But in reality, those are not all Japanese fans, many of them were Chinese waving the Japanese flag to support their favorite skater.

Need to complain about Brian Orser for giving Yuzu the purple-green Seimei skate guard after the short programme. :scratch2: (minus 0.5 marks from Orser's TES coaching evaluation) I hope Brian Orser does not given the white-blue Chopin skate guard to Yuzu tomorrow.

why does yuzu have a copy of an an in the ice rink? :laugh2: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CV8nbDiWEAEQbjH.jpg

Yuzu: Hi Patrick's coach, would you like a free copy of a Japanese magazine with me on the cover? There are more pictures of me inside wearing nice clothes.

Coach: Errrmmm, sure.

Orser: Yuzu! What are you doing? For quadruple salchow's sake, put that thing away. You need to concentrate, otherwise you'll get level 3 for step sequence.

Patrick thinking, 'If I see that magazine in her office, I will steal it and keep it in my room.'

??? Doesn't he have only one pair of guards ?

Short story: When Yuzu was skating his SP, I was in school (and it was probably before first period) and we're not allowed to use phones during class hours so I had to endure a half day without skating news. I took 2 tests but my mind was drifting in skating fantasy, was Yuzu clean or not? :drama:

Then came dismissal and I had a chance to check the results on the school computer and, just wow. Our school has Youtube blocked so I couldn't watch it then, but I saw the headline "Yuzuru breaks his own world record" and was so amazed! My friend was laughing at me then, but I was really amazed because I didn't even think that he would replicate his NHK SP (with a better 4S landing) and score 110+. Wow.

Now, I don't think I'll be able to watch his FS because I'll be studying for finals by then so I'll be crossing my fingers and praying for him. :agree2: Yuzuru loves challenges, and he now faces his biggest challenge: how will be top his best? His performances from here on will be compared to his best so a lot more is expected, but knowing him, he won't just back down from that challenge. Wishing him all the best in the Free!
