Elena Radionova

What a quick growth spurt; that'd make any athlete more inconsistent. I do feel like the fall on the loop was almost like a mind lapse, though. It almost looked like she was starting to go for her axel entrance and had a moment of hesitation that proved costly. Jumps looked much prettier in the exo, think she'll grit this season out; she's such a fighter.

Yeah, Lena said it seemed like it was a lapse of focus, but even if she had landed the loop perfectly, I'm not sure she would've beaten Satoko...hard to say. Right now her jumps are a bit unstable--which is totally understandable--but that makes it tough for the judges to give lots of +GOE.

I agree that I think she'll grit it out this season! :agree:

I did see her pulling at that dress. It is hard for me to imagine Lena getting much taller, though she might feel out a little more. For a transition year I think she has been doing pretty good. She looked gorgeous in her exhibition. I am real happy i am going to World and forked over cash for an exhibition ticket, which I was tempted to skip. She's holding her own.

Yeah, I'm hoping Lena doesn't grow much taller either, though she'll probably fill out a bit more.

I really really really hope I get to see Lena at Worlds and at the exhibition!!
Skating gods make it come true!!

Hopefully you will get to go. I got a balcony all event for competition, but have been trying to score a better seat for ladies long. darn scalpers! For exhibitions I got a great seat

Thank you so much Winky97 and Batsuchan

I was frustrated last night, because every video link of Gala w/ Lena were not playing in my phone ~ i still cannot watch her new EX :( but thanks to IG uploads, somehow i can see a glimps of what happened :) the pic of Lena and Yuzu during Gala, they looked like a mermaid hehehe

I notice that her dress seemed smaller/tight~ and she also looks taller than Zhenya from their podium pics in RC.
She may not be on top of the Podium, but i am glad she has a fighting spirit :)

Tough to say. Gotta think if she landed it, the components likely would have shot up as they did for Ashley and Evgeniya. Another three points there plus the 6-7 points she lost for not standing up on a rotated 3Lo likely would have made the difference.

aw thanks for all the pics of our model.
She really needs a contract with L'oreal or smth! her hair is sooo beautiful she can earn money!

yep it was choreographed by Ilia (Grishin said in the Gala commentary)

More Yuzulena!

Can someone tell me what this says??
 The GoogleTranslate is not clear...
This is from a live report by a fan...

Here's the Googletranslate:

Miyahara - was beautiful, Eugene - fantastic, absolutely fantastic and Lena. Lena for me a different story altogether that day, I was just shocked to the core. It is, of course, nothing fell again nafintila with jumps, but everything else ... HOW she rode, she took all this with their own history, we just dropped out of life for a few minutes. And you know, that struck most of all? Poje and Bates. They sat through a number of us in the middle Lena programs simply were ready to throw on the ice, I swear. I do this in my life saw two adult guy just flew away and sank with it, and with it her "Titanic", is incredible.

Jack raised the room, the girl - flint, went out and made all. And for a second there was no doubt that this will happen, some surprising confidence comes from her. But for me, rolled at Skate America was better, more accurate, piercing, there was a great job done. And once again that, as different musical Lena and Zhenya. At first - lived melody, the second - played. And fun to watch them this distinction. And I am delighted with what we can expect in the future if and go.

Is this saying that [Andrew] Poje and [Evan] Bates were watching Lena skate?

I guess this person also felt that Lena "lives" the music, while Zhenya [Evgenia] plays it...I can see that!

Well I still think she needs a jump coach.
Perhaps you might be right. But while Lena is still growing and changing, I think it will be difficult for her to try to adjust to her body AND modify her technique, so for right now, it might be best for her to focus on improving her skating skills, posture, use of her arms, etc. Once she settles into her body, then they might want to look more closely at tweaking her technique. Though personally, I feel like her jump technique is fine. It might not be conventional, but I don't see anything fundamentally wrong with her technique (other than the unclear edge on her flip). The one thing that bothered me last year was the way she hunched her shoulders when she jumped, but that seems to have improved a bit this season. She doesn't pre-rotate much, and she usually goes into the jump with her upper body in a nice checked position (not too much winding up to jump). And her air position is textbook, with little toes to little toes.

Yes, she's fallen more times this season than all of last season, and her lutz landings (in particular) have been rough, but for now I'm going to chalk it up to difficulties adjusting to her new body rather than fundamental technique deficiencies.

Of course, I'm no expert (I can only do single jumps), and I'm a huge Lena fan, so this definitely might be wishful thinking... Time will tell. Here's to hoping Lena will sail through just fine! :cheer:

And I watched Julia's Je'Taime EX. They are so different but both good

She has much better SS than all Russian girls right now, just after Miss Sotnikova. Her basic is fine. It's her posture and her jumps I am worried about. Her jumps have little flow and even though she fully rotated them, it does not look impressive. I know she is still growing and filling out. But if she can manage to fix her landings, she will score much better.

I totally agree that if she had better landings on her jumps, with flow coming out of them, she will get much better GOE!!
But I still think she could work more on her SS...she can generate speed quickly and she glides across the ice nicely, but she doesn't seem to have a lot of POWER in her skating. And while she might have great edge control, her edges don't seem particularly deep.
I think that if her skating skills improve and she is more powerful, then she should be able to use that speed to help generate nicer jumps with more flow.

How tall is she currently. She looks different this season and it's like they are making her very commercial... The Russian Gracey?

Her official bio says 163cm (5'4"), but I wouldn't be surprised if she's closer to 164-165cm now (almost 5'5").

Her image is a lot more mature this year, but how I wish she had sponsors and commercials like Gracie!!
Sigh, if Elena were an American skater, she totally would have a cosmetic commercial and a hair commercial and probably a clothing sponsor too. But in Russia, she's not close to being the most famous or most successful skater so it probably won't happen, even if she's most model-like. :sad21:

Of course, once she wins the Olympics, that may all change!
