Alexander Petrov

Those are nice pictures.

In other news I was having a sick day today from uni so I had a lot of time to kill during the day. So I watched many skaters (Javi, Yuzu, Shoma etc) free programs and counted the crossovers. And Sasha was the only one out of 9 who had less than 30 crossovers in his fs. That's really positive.

Yes, his basic skating skills are good. He has very smooth, effortless and efficient stroking with that great posture/straight back of his. That's one of the things I like about his skating. None of that scratching/chopping movement nor that bent over posture that some skaters have when they are doing crossovers.

I hope you get well soon.

I'm really late about this, sorry about that, but I just scrolled through the first post on this thread and noticed it had been updated a lot since last time I saw it. So I just wanted to come and say thank you adelia for that :)

There are still other things I have yet to add. Some video interviews, articles and other miscellaneous stuff.

Skate Canada practice session.

From the vk page Figure Skating Confessions:
"I never really followed the junior competitions, until I accidentally saw Sasha Petrov. The charming, mischievous, positive and never despondent boy won my heart at first sight. I enjoy his beautiful, elegant, powerful skating and self-confidence. This season, Sasha embarks on a new stage in his career- the transition to adult level. I hope very much that he succeeds in declaring himself brilliantly and beautifully. Good luck to Sasha! Let this season be the key to a great future!"

They must be in the final stages of preparations for Nationals now, I think? I wonder when they will be leaving?

First practice sessions are on the 23rd. The draw is on the 23rd as well. So I'm guessing they will take the afternoon flight on the 22nd.

Masha Perederova has confirmed that they will be leaving for Ekaterinburg on the 22nd.

I'm really interested in seeing whether he is going to try the quad. And in my opinion he should, just because there is nothing more he can actually achieve without it.

Of course with the first quads its always more or less a gamble, but unless something has happened I think he can handle the pressure.

I really don't know whether he will or not. But ultimately the final decision lies with Mishin, not Sasha.

As for my personal opinion on the quad... I think he wants to go for it and I hope his coaches will allow him to. Of course it would have been better if he had been able to try it at a senior B first but unfortunately the overall situation has not been good for him this season and he just has to make do with the opportunities that are left.
