I am completely lost in the structure in this forum, things are all over without any consistent logic, so I apologize for posting the question here: is it possible to watch the Russian Nationals on American TV or any Internet service? Last year it was available on IceNetwork, this year I don't see it there. Any help?

Last year ESPN broadcast it and we could internet stream it for free in the US. Tatiana Flade was one of the commentators and we saw lots of close ups of Christmas decorations. I hope they do again this year.

This link will help with all of your Russian Nationals needs :)

A logical place for your question is the GS subforum for Russian Nationals, listed on the page of subforums for Nationals of all countries.
http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?487-2015-16-National-Figure-Skating-events

(All of which are within the GS competition subforum.)

IIRC, your question has been discussed in the Russian Nationals General Info thread, as well as the Russian Nationals Livestream thread. (Perhaps other Russian Nationals threads as well.)

BTW, Russian Nats streaming was available last year on ESPN to at least some U.S. viewers. News to me that it was available last year on IN.

Yes, yes, I was wrong! It was NOT on IN. But wasn't it on LiveExtra, rather than on ESPN?

As to the forum structure I find it overly structured and broken down. The sport is not as big to have tens of subforums with all possible aspects in different places. Tennis is much bigger and there there is just a general area with everything in it. It's much simpler then this complex structure of general talk, competitions, technicals, different forums for Nationals and Internationals, then countries, etc. I find it ridiculous. Someone LOVES micromanaging!

Anyway, thanks, because of your help I found it on ESPN, I am happy. :)

You are correct: I meant streaming on ESPN.com regarding last year. (I did not mean ESPN cablecasts.)

Meanwhile, AFAIK, we have had NO indication from ESPN.com that it will be streaming Russian Nats this year.

Logic is in the eye of the beholder.
Asking a random question about Russian Nats live streaming in a thread about Russian Ice Dance makes little sense to me.
You are lucky that Sam-S responded to you here.
But it doesn't help someone else who might have the same question -- who would consider the Ice Dance thread an illogical place to look for an answer.

For me, it would not be easier to find information about anything if a gazillion competition threads were jumbled together with all the non-competition threads in The Edge. YMMV.

To keep abreast of any updates re this year's streaming of Russian Nats, I myself will be keeping an eye on the Russian Nats comp threads. YMMV.

If you find the structure of GS ridiculous, no one is forcing you to look at or participate in the site.

I am not one of the mods, but I have a lot of respect and appreciation for their many efforts to make GS user-friendly by keeping it organized. YMMV.

When this year's Challenger season started, gsk8 and the mods originally planned to have just two threads per comp: one thread for Nebelhorn discussion and one for Nebelhorn videos, for example.
Many GS members then commented that one thread for discussion was insufficient -- that jumbling men and ladies and pairs and ice dance was too confusing.
At the request of these members, the GS mods decided to earmark separate additional threads for each discipline for each Challenger comp.

Again, logic is in the eye of the beholder.

It was the interview that was already discussed in here. I thought it sounded like they are pushing for a SKIZ team. But you never know with the Russian Fed. BS have been very consistent this year, especially in getting their levels. They still need work on their GOE, though. It`s a similar case for IZ, who are getting good levels, but their GOE isn`t as good as could be adding to that they made some costly mistakes in the past. SK seem to have found each other as a team and they are strong FD skaters. Their weakness seems to be the SD, since she seems to struggle hitting her keypoints. So, it`s going to be interesting to see who comes out on top at Nationals.

Oh, you mean that interview: http://sochi.nu.stadium.ru/news/14-...vlyayutsya-liderami-v-tantsah-na-ldu-v-rossii ?
I didn't get the impression they're pushing for a SKIZ team :ohwell: Just that there's no clear leader. Must be something wrong with my Russian then.

I don't speak Russian, so I only go by the offered translations. And my impression was this: There's no clear leader. B/S skated well at GPF, but they would have had to medal there or at least be closer in scores to the top couples to make the Fed happy. That they're in danger of being passed by H/D now as well (the third American couple!) isn't encouraging. It's also not encouraging that they've been passed by pairs they used to beat regularly. Yes, the injury plays a huge role in that, but tbh they were already in the process of getting passed by these pairs in 2014. I'm not sure that is a fair reading of the situation, but I suspect that is the reading the Russian Fed is applying.

no really I was pretty upset with that fall @ CoR & Im not even the biggest I/Z supporter:disapp:

Hopefully all the nerves they left at that competition
both SKIZ

Any of their teams (B/S, I/Z or S/K) would have been on the same place or even worse at GPF, 'cause today more than ever, because the couples are so close to each other, ice dance is about reputation and Federation's support. So Russia, in my opinion, should push any of these teams if they want to have a chance for a medal in the near future at Worlds.

My prediction for Nationals:
1)S/K
2)B/S
3)I/Z

Though I wish I am wrong. Yes, S/K have improved this year but they are sooo boring. That FS does nothing for me. And Vika is still Nikita's shadow. It seems she has no personality both on and off ice - cold beautiful princess.

Yes because you know her personally. Lame.

well really want to see what TSL & that person sees
To me she's such a warm personality & a beautiful dove our Vika :luv17:

Actually especially in the SD I look at Vika much more than at Nick
(& considering my affection for Nick its an accomplishment;))

btw I decided to read last year's Nats dance thread & some posts are hilarious (i.e. this:laugh2:)
Ppl were so ready to bury SinKats

I think a lot of that was rather malicious glee because Nikita destroyed the I/K fairytale. And also impatience: If you're not great right from the start, you're declared dead in the water. It's done with loads of skaters once they hit a rough patch. Even though they struggled last year, IMO it was pretty obvious that they had potential. It just took time and work.

And as critical as you can see some of Zoueva's work, people were also way harsh on her in this case. They were in no teknik in the Paso SD in particular because they were brand new and struggling to find a way to skate together. So it affected everything they did, it made them scratchy, they couldn't execute the lifts properly etc. etc. So even though they had level 4 elements in theory, they barely hit any of them. They actually started looking decent in the FD at Nationals and the fairer posters acknowledged that. Bramweld, I think, even came to the S/K fanthread and posted nice things about their performance. :)

Agree that the Waltz SD really suits Viktoria. It's light and airy, which seems to be more her thing than heavy drama. That's all right, not everyone needs to be a diva and that's not the only style for a female ice dancer. Nikita is intense and dramatic anyway, so she can be the contrast to that. Light and shade.

So, I thought the order would be BS, SK and IZ....but as of right now, I'm thinking it might be IZ, SK and BS... not sure...all three are pretty close.

IZ, SK, BS has certainly not been the preference internationally. Internationally the judges have not been glowing with praise for IZ.

Since the Olympics, BS have gone backwards, IZ have stagnated this year and SK have improved a lot. We'll see what happens next....
