Just to add unnecessary comments to the discourse: I recently have decided that age doesn't necessarily reflect talent 1:1, experience is an important asset and of course more of it will bring finesse and polish, but finesse and polish are sometimes innate to certain skaters never mind their ages. Experience is just one element that makes a skater great, so being older and with more experience doesn't automatically make them more likely to win. Winning at a young age is still an impressive thing, don't get me wrong, but it's only one aspect of a skater/skaters that makes them good imo.

I may have to rewrite this later if I don't want to embarrass myself, I wrote this while watching Nebelhorn
it makes sense... and let's add to this that with the musical chairs we see in dance and pairs at the lower levels, who knows what the future will look like for ANY of these teams...

To an extent, yes, also due to past training in other sports (like Hana's ballet training), but some other things, like for example skating skills are usually a pretty good example of time making a big difference (of course, if the coaches and skaters work on them, which some don't).

On top of that, in partnered disciplines, a lot of skaters only switched to that discipline as teens, so sometimes you get very different levels of experience and specialised training in teams of the same age, especially in Juniors. Ilin/Cain for example have at least 2 years more experience competing in Ice Dance than Grimm/Savitskiy, despite being almost 3 and 5 years younger respectively.
