Japanese Nationals 2015-16 Ladies SP

great to see Wakaba back

shame there isnt a livestream
Miyahara might easily win this competition

Hmmm, mao's dress is honestly a dejavu of black/blue or white/gold dress that went viral. I like the pink one better, so I'm hoping its pink! But then again, lighting can be tricky

Me too, but yeah depending on the lighting it would be purple or pink. I guess we'll know when vids pop up.

Poor girl seems like she's lost so much weight from the awful stomach flu :P

I thought she actually lost some weight at GPF, but yeah probably the illnesses she had through fight through in the 2 comps. :sad21: Here's to hoping for a healthy Mao to show up in the Free!

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Consistency trumps all. SLAY SATOKO!!! Keep disproving those non believers!

Tiny Queen does it again! :cheer: in the lead by 5 points. Her title to lose?

Hmm, Higuchi and Hongo's scores are less than one point apart! The FS should be interesting :) And Satoko still hasn't skated yet!

It could be a Miyahara-Wakaba-Hongo podium
depending on how they skate in the FS

of course Mao can still win if she delivers a clean FS
and there is Kanako who can sneak in if others falter

Looks like it might be a repeat of Miyahara-Hongo-Higuchi of last year if the results stay the same after the FS

thanks for the updates cohkaix. So you are physically watching the show in Hokkaido? I hurried back to my apartment after doing errands hoping to catch the show on local TV. Much to my disappointment, it's not being shown ><

Also, while i was watching the mens short program yesterday, they were also announcing several skaters who would be retiring. Kind of sad that there are quite a lot of skaters out there that don't get noticed. But yeah, it's still a competition after all and those who excel will stand out and get recognition, sponsors and media coverage, etc.

Hope everyone performs amazing on the Free Skates tomorrow~

No problem! No, I wouldn't dare to go to Sapporo in such a cold weather. Just get info from twitter and sites very quickly, that's all. Thanks everyone!!

I think Rika would score higher than Wakaba in the FS, but you never know! At this rate, the podium could be the exact same as last year... Miyahara, Hongo, Higuchi

Mao is more than 10 points behind :(

Ughhhh. Is she still recovering? The stomach flu lasts for 2 weeks max.

I find it hilarious how Miyahara trumps everyone's expectations time and time again. She's going to keep consistency-ing her way to titles over skaters who are arguably more technically gifted than her, but can't skate cleanly.

If Asada doesn't podium, will she be selected for Worlds?

I think so? I believe she would be picked above Kanako even if she finishes a spot below her. And Wakaba is a junior so she wouldn't be age-eligible for worlds anyways.

top 10 list?

1. Satoko Miyahara - 73.24 (39.36, 33.88)
2. Rika Hongo - 68.39 (37.14, 31.25)
3. Wakaba Higuchi - 67.48 (37.54, 29.94)
4. Kanako Murakami - 66.02 (34.33, 31.69)
5. Mao Asada - 62.03 (28.68, 33.35)
6. Yuna Shiraiwa - 61.92 (35.49, 26.43)
7. Yuka Nagai - 60.42 (34.48, 26.94, -1.00)
8. Rin Nitaya - 60.10 (34.35, 25.75)
9. Yuna Aoki - 58.96 (33.04, 25.92)
10. Yura Matsuda - 58.76 (32.24, 26.52)

Just realized - Wakaba got higher TES than Rika and Satoko got higher PCS than Mao

I still think so. She's got 1-3 at the GP and still qualified for GPF, while Kana only had 4-4. The third spot will only be between them with Nagai so far back. All between Satoko, Rika, Mao, and Kana aren't eligible AFAIK.

I think it all depends on Kanako at this point. Even if she beats Mao, they might still send Mao because of a stronger GP season. Wakaba will be sent to junior worlds.
