Fingers crossed for a Mao-Rika-Marin podium even though it's never going to happen (there's not only uber-consistent Satoko but Kanako and Wakaba, so...).

It begins  I'm so nervous for everyone. I can't even imagine or predict the podium. I just hope that everyone performs at their very best!

It's gonna be such a fight! I hope to see a Satoko, Mao and Rika podium at the end, but it's too early for that.😁 I hope Wakaba and Marin will do great too! A 4-5th finish for them would be awesome imo.
Good luck ladies!

Regarding Mao's layout change, it's probably for the best for now, considering the struggle she has with her lutz... I hope it will pay off. We'll know soon enough.

Changing the layout rarely works. I still remember Ito changing it during the Olympics and she tanked the SP. On the other hand Tuk changed her's at worlds and it was awesome.

I want to make predictions but it's so hard! There are so many question marks! To me the biggest one is Yuka Nagai who could be anywhere from on podium to out of the top 10 depending on how many jumps she's able to rotate. Mao also, how well will she do? If she doesn't do well how high are they willing to hold her up? Another one is Yura Matsuda, I'm not expecting her to be on the podium or even in the top five but everyone forgets about her and her bronze on the JGP, I could see her top 10 for sure. Murakami is kind of on the same boat as Nagai though I feel she doesn't have as high or low a possibility as Nagai does, I think she'll be in the top 10 but I don't think she stands a chance of a medal, same with Imai but she could well be out of the top 10. Also thrown in to the mix are Yuna A, Yuna S, and Marin. I'm worried about Yuna S skating first, she has done so well this season but I kind of feel like to secure her place at junior worlds she has to be able to beat Marin here. Yuna A and Marin have had a rivalry going on in the past but this season Marin has been beating her every time, I like Yuna A so I'd like so see her start a come back here. Allllllll that said I feel like the top 5 will probably consist of: Miyahara, Asada, Higuchi, Hongo and maybe Nagai?

That SP layout is what she's done since like 2012 or something. It's not really "new".

I think it's safe to say (with very low risk of jinxing her performance) that Mao won't mess up a 3F-2L and a solo 3L..

What an irony. Midori used an easier layout and she bombed. Liza tried a harder layout and she delivered...
