Todays NHK special backstage episode was great! More Yuzu with kids. -They really like him and he likes them.
The rest of team Japan was there too and adorable. I wonder why Shoma was the only one not there. Scheduling or rest needed?

I loved the scenes of Yuzu with Mao in NHK special, they do adore each other. There was scene of them skating round together. Yuzu was cute. He skated very close to Mao leaning down a little while she was talking to him (in a little bit bossy way). I didn't get why he did that and what was going on but he seemed kinda pretending to be childish. I wonder what he tried to represent or say doing that? the link

Oh dear I had a fun time reading your blog entry because I think you very accurately portrayed how
it is to be a Yuzuru fan. And I plead "guilty" to regularly checking for Yuzuru updates online and watching videos of his skates specially when I need a pick up. (R & J 1 is particularly inspiring). I'll end this post by echoing what was said in the TSN coverage of his recent SC exhibition: he may not know it but he is one of the most powerful persons in figure skating for his capability to move and inspire a lot of people. And not just in Japan.

I read this article in Japanese (Yomiuri Shimbun) on 31 Dec. 2015, and I was looking for the translation on the net. I was about to do the translation myself. Good timing

But I want to raise some points about the nuance of the translation. Original Japanese and my try hereunder.

「負けた悔しさや、ミスした自分への怒り。そういうものがあるから、頑張れるのかも。

Q. You have made a remakable leap in the next competition after defeated to Chan and Fernandez.
A. I may be able to work hard because of such feelings of disappointment suffering from a loss, as well as anger toward myself.

Just IMO, but a great leap after a defeat may be the point here.

－　NHK杯の演技後は「絶対王者なんだ」という発言もあったが。
「あれは言い間違い。『絶対王者になるんだ』と言いたかったのに。

Q. Why did you call yourself the "absolute champion" after your performance at NHK Trophy?
A. I said it wrongly. I wanted to say "I'm gonna become the absolute champion"

I think he said, "絶対王者" (zettai ohja - absolute champion)になる。- to become the absolute champion.
Not 絶対に”王者”になる - to become a champion absolutely.

He is particular about this word "絶対王者 zettai ohja" always. And the zettai ohja in his mind is, needless to say, Plushenko.

But please note that the above is just my impression.
