Yuzuru Hanyu: 2015-16 Season

Yuzuru actually only trains in Canada a few weeks (5-6 weeks) before the competitions. For the rest of the time, he practices in Japan.

His schedule is usually like this:

In April or May, go to Canada to get new programs.

From May to August, he does ice shows and other obligations and rests in Japan.

In Mid-August, he goes to Canada to prepare for the new season because his first competition is usually in early October.

After the first grand prix, he will either train in Canada or in Japan depends on where his first grand prix competition is held. If the first grand prix is in the USA or Canada, he will train in Canada. If the first grand prix is in Europe or Asia, he will return to Japan to practice in order to minimize the travel. After the second grand prix (usually it's NHK), he will stay in Japan, go to GPF then return to Japan to compete at national.

After national, he will stay in Japan until February if he is not going to compete at 4CC/Olympics or return to Canada to train if he is going to compete at 4CC/Olympics.

In mid-February, he will start training in Canada to prepare for the WC (end of March/early April).

So he is in still Japan now because he is not competing in February.

But still even years ago, he is a world bronze medalist...

Yuzu encourages respect...but also a lot of informality amongst skaters. He emphasizes that figure skating does not use the sempai/kohai system, but that every one learns from each other. -This is one area where he is un-Japanese...but It's a good thing. :agree:

I'm trying to find a link that was somewhere in this 2000+ page thread. Someone had created a beautiful collage of Yuzu and Nanami-sensei through their years together to the music Haru Yo Koi. It was a very moving and beautiful youtube (I think) and it began with him skating to White Legend. Does anyone remember this and could you provide a link? It was so full of pure joy and I really would like to find it again. Thank you!
