HongKong is not a place for skating, leisurely, training wise, period! Hau was the local champion, once, the only hopefuls are training somewhere else, in China, or abroad, overseas. The Olympic Chairman said as much, overseas skaters will form the main source of competition, as the area lacks, in awful condition, ice surfaces, atmosphere, climate.......even coaches are very hard to come by, good coaches are rarerer still.
They only advantage HongKong skaters have, doubtfully, is their city's prosperity, in terms of their average financial security, mostly based on their highly valuated real properties, highest real estate price globally, so each owner of flats, minus the land, at least are multi-millionaires, and can afford to send their sons and daughters to ice skating coaches who charges one hundred dollars or more per hour, and the wealthier ones can send their hopefuls to abroad, mainland China, for dedicated training......The one guy,who showed up in last World Championship, got some decent levels, much more than this local hero Hau, to show for, and he was trained in Canada, lived there......
