2026 Four Continents Championships Women's Short Program

I wonder if there is additional pressure on Mone and Shun, being as they are in the mix for the Olympics and also from Sendai. Japan only has the two OGMs in figure skating and both are from there...
Do you mean the fact that Sendai skaters are resented by powerful clans at JSF for not being from Nagoya?
At the moment, my impression was that she didn't have the best coach to calm down her nerves. But there may be other reasons, and they don't exclude each other...
The fact is, the end of her performance, without being under others', wasn't as much above as it usually is. I watched the Presentation scores and they seemed pretty accurate for the ones I saw, maybe a bit under indeed for Gabrielle Daleman, and Sarah Everhardt overscored particularly in Skating Skills? But they were quite under what she can do at her best. This program is a candy for the eyes when she delivers.

Daleman was so strong and free. I think her PCS were a bit too low. It would have been nice to see her get a small medal for that skate. At the same time, no pressure. I am just happy she's healthy and able to skate after 2 years without much training/skating due to major injuries.

It was possible the top six could have been USA and Japan but that didn't happen. THe Koreans did not do as well here and I am thrilled for Starr Andrews but she tends to falter in the long. thought Bradie would do better here and be out for blood. Sad about Mone but she is still in it. Biggest surprise is the Canadian lady. I honestly would have had her pcs higher. Shehas a certain presence and then you realize she is a world bronze medallists from 2017. 9 years ago but still impressive to see her comeback. I know the long is another story but we will see. I am not sure if they named the Candian world team but if she can do well here and depending what Madi does at the olympics maybe it might be worthwhile to send Gabby to worlds? But a lot has to be done. She needs to do well and if she is unlucky two or three Americans and couple of Koreans will or could pass her and she might struggle to hold on to top ten here. But imho she was undermarked and should have at least 2 or more points.

I loved seeing her so happy whether in practice or competition. She was just enjoying her skating and soaking in the experience, not going to let anything keep her from enjoying her performance. Happy skater = happy performance.

What happened?

Gabrielle Daleman was so strong and confident ! I'm really sad that she is not the one to go to the Olympic, she flies and is so fast compared to Madeline.

I don't usually watch too much of the women's events, aside from the top groups and a few others here and there. Daleman skated really well. Interesting though how they bunched a number of women at 67+. Starr Andrews got low-balled IMO, especially with her performance quality. Starr certainly skated better than Haien Lee and comparable to Daleman. Sarah Everhardt is good technically, but very bland otherwise. I'd have her on the low end of the bunched-up group, and I'd have Bradie with a higher score, especially for performance quality.

While I realize that Mone Chiba has it all (performance quality and tech brilliance), I would not have her in third place with a fall. Unfair. Even Ami Nakai had hiccoughs on jump landings. Political and perception status scoring, as usual.

ETA:
I'd have Nakai at 71+; Aoki 70+; Daleman 69+; Tennell 68+; Chiba 68+; Andrews 67+; Everhardt 66+; Lee 66+
