I actually think Med or Rad or both will medal only because Ashley, Gracie and Mao are extremely inconsistent. Maybe years ago Mao was consistent and I know there are huge Mao fans here but she has been fixing her lutz and all and urs for ages. Still you would just think three talented judge loved skaters - that have not had great competitions this year - one of three you would think do well at worlds? I am wondering also when or if the judges will start reading these posts and start questioning or at least marking down the GOES on Miyahara's jumps.

Medvedeva with a fall and a step out has proven that she is gold medal material, I do believe she beat Miyahara's score at Euros. Disppointing how incredibly inflated all the scores are. Medvedeva will make the podium. If everyone skated clean, it would be 1. Asada, 2. Medvedeva 3. Gold.

Gold????? No offense but with the terrible skate she had at 4CC and the fact that both Gold and Wagner are extremely inconsistent its highly doubtful any American lady will make the podium even at home. Honestly it will 2 podiums for russia and 1 for japan. Of course if something weird happens it will be 2 japan and 1 russia. Lets face it russia and japan are the powerhouses and unless US fed changes the way they do things, US will always have and continue to have sub par performers with no consistency. Anyways im a huge Yulia fan and love that her jumps have height in them now. Next season will be great as for Medvedeva i expect her to do great at worlds and Elena well i hope she will tone down the arm flailing haha. As for Pogo i dont particularly like her skating but i think she will end up 4 or 5th we will see. I dont usuallt post her but when i see someone put Gold and Wagner on a pedistol i get frustrated and im american.

Gold with 2 decent skates has a chance as we saw @ 4CC the judges always ready to hand her the PCS. She can be #3.

look don't take this as an insult,but you are crazy if you think Ashley Wagner(of all people).Gold etc are better than the best skater in the world right now Evgenia. Sorry,but they have zero chance against a clean Evgenia. Radionova is also a very consistent skater so if they both go clean it will be very difficult for both of them not to be on the podium. The Russians have the BEST TEAM like it or not.

The judges favorite ladies this season appear to be Evgenia, Satoko, and Gracie. Of the three, I'd have to say Evgenia deserves the win and is most likely to win. I just can't with Gracie being so inconsistent, and Satoko is very consistent but her jumps- I just can't overlook that. So out of these three judge's favorites, Evgenia is my choice. I wish Rad could beat her, and I think if Rad fixed up her skating and esp her jump landings, she possible could, but I foresee that will not be fixable until after the season is over. So my pick is Evgenia for the gold.

I wish Rad could beat her, and I think if Rad fixed up her skating and esp her jump landings, she possible could, but I foresee that will not be fixable until after the season is over.

Lena is also behind Evgenia in all 5 categories of PCS. Seems like it's gonna take more than just fixing her jumps.

She needs better programs and less flailing of her arms. Sometimes less is more if you what I mean. I like Rad but there is nothing she can do to make me like her LP. Those voiceovers

Euros was the first time I feared her lutz and her landings need work. Maybe next year. But she needs to leave Morozov and go back to Ilia or at least try Zhulin or Glinka.

Yeah I don'g get where the idea that neither Evgenia OR Elena will be on the podium could possibly come from? Evgenia right now in my mind is objectively the favorite for Gold, with Miyahara the favorite for silver. Chances of these two not taking home the top two spots (in some order) are low. Ice is slippery but they are the most consistent of the women out there, and the judges are rewarding them for it BIG TIME. The only skater IMO who could 'spoil' this for them is Mao Asada, in the event that a miracle occurs and she's able to skate clean, but in reality Mao is likely to be fighting for third with Elena and Gracie if Gracie can pull herself together for once. Ashley Wagner will come onto the podium only if she has literally the skate of her life AND all of the skaters I've already named make mistakes. Anna Pogorylia could also be in the bronze hunt but only if perfect. Hongo could be in the mix too, but like Ashley, will need to have the skate of her life and rely on other's mistakes.

That Gracie's long program is insufferable though, no connection to music whatsoever, stone-faced and lacking in grace (pun intended, huh). She's the most overrated and overhyped contemporary skater by far

Is this thread possessed or something. What is all this garbage about. Isn't this thread about the state of women/girls skating in Russia? Does anyone know what shape Lipinskayia is in or if Leonova is retiring? Is Leonova the Fumie Suguri of Russia? Anyone has insight into when Pog falls why is it so dramatic and horrendous and splat. She falls splatacularlly! She is still beautiful - kind of reminds me of some of Maria Butyrskayas falls.

Not only that, her elegant style of skating also reminds me about her. My favourite Russian right now from these that were present in Bratislava at very least.

I think it's naive to talk confidently about what will happen at Worlds... there are 6-7 medal contenders. I personally can be neither optimistic or pessimistic about the chances of the Russian ladies.

I think her lutzes are probably fine in practice (at home in Russia), but she struggled at Euros because the rink is narrower (28 meters wide vs 30 meters for Olympic-sized rinks). I fear it will only be harder for her at Worlds (26 meter-wide NHL rink), unless she changes her setup for the lutz a bit.

Q: Fans are also wondering how you are now jumping in training and if you have problems with Lutz?
A: Fortunately I have never had a problem with the Lutz. Maybe there were mistakes in my performances, but overall I feel good about the lutz. And jumping is good too.

I *TOTALLY* agree that she needs better programs. :yes: I've said this before, but I wonder if TAT would choreograph for her? Or what about Peter Tchernyshev (since he did programs for Kovtun and Sotnikova--skaters who are also at CSKA)?

I just checked out her lutzes
Europeans: no ur or edge issues, positive goe on all lutzes
GPF: no ur or edge issues, 1 negative GOE in short, all positive in long.
Rostelecom: no ur or edge issues, positive goe on all lutzes
Coc: no ur or edge issues also

So, i took a closer look at the detailed results and concluded her lutzes are fine.

While of course the whole "ice is slippery and anything can happen" yadda yadda is true, I don't think there's any reason not to be optimistic about the chances of the russian ladies at worlds. Russia is the only country where I'd bet money they will get at least one medal. Japan is also very likely, but I'm still a little less convinced about Satoko (because while the technical panels at GPF and 4CC ignored her URs, if we get a strict tech caller for worlds her scores could drop a lot). And furthermore, Russia is the only country I'd say has a really good shot at even 2 medals - again with Japan having an outside shot too thanks to Satoko + Mao, but it's far less likely.
