I believe the team will be announced early March? But yes, I think it's very likely that Anna is going.
A thought: One reason they may have held off announcing the team, could be that perhaps they may have wanted to keep their options re the substitutes open for a while as well?

You are touching on her lutz issue very unwisely:

Did I ever say Elena has an UR/edge issue on her lutz jumps? You are just switching the concept of my argument and evading the weak point of her jump technique.
You disagreed implicitly with the statement that her lutzes are fine.

Now, notice that CoC was terrible a terrible competition for her, and she struggled with other jumps there too, with several URs and pops. So, clearly, whatever were her results there, they affected all her jumps, Lutz included.
So, without CoC (where she struggled with most jumps), we have:
average GOE: 0.3
That is not really critical.
For example:
Medvedeva got an average of 0.83 for her lutzes this season (gps + gpf + europeans)
Satoko got an average of 0.22.
Mao, on CoC (her other compos were not so good so...), got an average GOE of -0.7, and overall negative GOEs during the season (and well, all agree she has issues with her Lutz).
(not adding more people, sorry, late here and dont wanna dig around protocols to cut down the performances where the skater botchered most jumps and nothing specifically).
In the end, she is in the positive. Her Lutz isnt omg great, but its tolerable and less of an issue than her flip, for example, which gets edge calls sometimes. Her Lutz GOE is lower than Med's, but then Radio has been mostly losing to Medvedeva, so not surprising. And it is still better than Satoko's. Also, well, you can see someone has Lutz problems when the GOE goes down the drain.
That sounds like fine to me:
1. no edge / ur / pop issues
2. not the best jump but she manages to keep it positive.
3. she has her flip to work on
Regardless of the scoring, it is true that Lena has been struggling with the opening lutz combo in her programs in competition this season. She often has a messy landing and has to brush her free foot close to/on the ice so she can't do the combo.
HOWEVER, I personally think that her jump landings have been messy because she's still getting used to her new body (she's grown about 6 inches over the past two seasons and has filled out a bit) and NOT because there are fundamental flaws with her technique. :yes: Of course, I could be wrong. Only time will tell.
The thing that amazes me about Lena is that IF she messes up the opening combo, she ALWAYS manages to tack on a +3T at the next opportunity. :agree: This season alone, she's had to improvise a 3Lo+3T in the SP twice (CoC, GPF), and tack a 3T onto her second 3Lz twice in the LP (GPF, Russian Nationals). I feel like for many skaters, if they messed up a jump the first time around, it makes them nervous so they make another mistake the second time. But in the LP, somehow Lena has always been able to make the necessary adjustment to get the 3Lz+3T off cleanly the second time.

4CC has a history of bit inflated scores and less strict judging, the most blatant case is that of young Chinese team in pairs that won. I am not a fan of Satoko yet but she improved much recently. I am convinced that one of the Russian ladies will get on the podium but more likely silver or bronze than gold with no Tuktamysheva in the context, I like other Russian girls too but I think they are not ready yet. Russia has a "problem" of such an abundance of great skaters right now, at least 6 / 7 of them would be able (and eligible) to represent their country worthily.

Who is your gold medal favorite then, if not Evgenia?
As much as I hate Evgenia's skating strategy, she will likely win gold in Boston.
Her strategy is perfectly aligned to get as many points as possible under the CoP system, which although I also dislike, we can't blame her for not doing otherwise.

Yes her strategy is just common sense, and I think a lot of people who really complain about it are just jealous that their own favorite skaters can't pull it off. While I'm also not the biggest fan of the strategy especially in the short program I don't see how you can help but respect it.
I love Medvedeva's SP strategy... thank god there's someone who does something besides race to do a 3-3 in the SP. Complaining about Medvedeva's SP jump layout when practically everyone else besides her does the exact same thing in the SP is something I find baffling.

May I ask why you think Evgenia will finish third? There's almost no skater as consistent as she is this season.

Satoko has been more consistent than Evgenia this season. Evgenia's actually had 4 falls this season (2 times on flip, 2 times on 2a), not a huge number by any means, and she's also had some (2 or 3) shaky 2axels with noticeable step outs on the landings. Satoko has fallen only twice this season (2nd lutz in her FS both times) and I don't recall her having any stepouts either, though she has gotten a few URs and edge calls. I don't think either girl has popped any jumps this season (though Evgenia fell on her 3f entrance at Ondrej Nepala so I guess that could count as a fall and a pop at the same time?).
In any event it's close and Evgenia is definitely next in line in terms of consistency, which coupled with her superior jumps and overall skating makes her the frontrunner to win Worlds this season IMO.

I'm more curious about how people see Elena's chances at medaling at Worlds this season?
Satoko and Evgenia are not going to make it for her to win, that's for sure.
Ashley and Gracie have been very hot and cold all season but skating in the US could help them.
Mao has not been skating well so far but she has all the history and experience on her side.
Can Elena make the podium? I know she's a contender for sure, but I'm curious to what people see her chances as being.

Better than Ashley and Gracie, better than Mao. My top 3 picks for the podium are Evgenia, Satoko and Radionova
