Yulia Lipnitskaya

Oh God... If you take somebody out it doesn't mean that you have to be madly in love with him... 😁

This... no way to know one way or another what's going on. She's very young as relationships go, and also at a fun time in her life in terms of that, any number of possibilities are equally likely and would be equally good for her.

I noticed Yulia liked a Meryl Davis Instagram post with the Shibs and Chock and Bates in it celebrating D/W's Olympic gold. She also liked one of Maia's posts. I think it's safe to say that she is a fan of the Shibs. ;)

I usually never check my Instagram "feed" but being in bed sick for a few days had me checking out new things. You never know what a little internet creeping may uncover. :o:

Does anyone know how many grand prix assignments will Yulia get next season??

She is #36 on the Season's best score so that looks like 1, probaby 2, but that highest score was from Finlandia and the last 2 comps she did did not count. I fully expect her score higher in the comp she's doing in early March(?) to bring her up to the top 10. And then she'll be guaranteed 2. Even if she finishes lower because all the other's scores go up at Worlds she'll be in a great position.

It's a pretty bleak situation right now- she is only guaranteed one based on the World Rankings list. I do think she'll get two, since she'll probably get the host pick. I don't think her next competition counts toward the SB scores, so she will probably be relying on the host pick to get 2.

Meanwhile, I continue to practice subtitles-making... Now here are those two interviews from the Russian Cup Final:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDOGDkTOtyg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwSF-WdHllY

First video:

Yes, I've hade mistakes in the programs but I am generally happy with the free skate. This is because I generally got tired, even in the first half, in the FS and it was hard to continue skating. This was not due to my shape but due to nerves. At the end program I had a fall but it wasn't something unfixable. I even understood why I fell. It was rushed, I saw myself coming close to the boards, and had to jump quickly resulting in a tilted rotation.

Interviewer: You have a new dress in the FS.

YL: How does it look? :)

I: Wonderful. Why the change? It's not the first time this season.

YL: Marina Olegovna [Zueva] and I had plans to change it for the 2nd half of the season. Although the season results were not as... grandiose as we expected. We sew the dress anyway especilaay given that I was "jumping out' of the blue dress during the championships [Rus. nats.], and now I'm completely drowning in it.

I: You now train with Alexei Evgenievich [Urmanov]. Before you had a lot of stars on your team [Eteri]. How is it now?

YL: You need both competition and attention. You cant have your coach be with you every second of your life. But with Urmanov we have ecerything set, planned, analyzed and I'm still not fully adjusted to such training. But I always find something new everyday. I have to say how important it is to have this new atmosphere, these new relations.

2nd video: (this is after the SP)

"I was overall unhappy with the short. i skated full of emotion, went down on the combo, not sure why I went down, I don't know, maybe a lack of confidence. Maybe not enough more work on psychology.

Interviewer: Were you set on training for CRF or was this a thru tournament?

YL: We didn't make any specific plans for CRF, we just chiseled out what was set for the Rus. nationals.

I: Given your success in the SP at nationals, did you put more accent on the fs?

YL: We worked on everything. The 2nd half combo in the short didn't work. It is still unstable and we need to work on that, still.

I: Your improvement for nationals was the 'tano Luts in the SP. What was your goal for improvement for this start?

YL: We tweaked the arrangment of jumps in the 2nd half of the FS. There's gonna be 2 'tano Lutzes there, though we gotta make sure we don't have pops, and I will also try a tano flip.

I: When you talk about popping jumps, are you talking about phys. shape?

YL: Its more of a head problem. I don't quite "feel" all of the jumps yet. Its teqhnique. I'm not 100% there yet on technique.

Jesys christ that was long. Anyway, Yulia is direct in her answers and quite self-critical. I like such qualities.

EDIT: When she talks about "jumping out" and "drowning" regarding the dress, I'm guessing she got leaner and more in shape??

If you ask, then - yes, she definitely meant that she'd lost some of her weight so the dress became loose for her. As to "more in shape", I think, nobody knows. Hopefully, we will see pretty soon if she's regaining her shape.

Pretty soon?!
I afraid it is going to take approximately 6 loooooooooong months, till the next season, to find out about her "shape" :scratch2:
P.S. It is nice to see you here!

I think louisinasane was referring to Cup of Tyrol, which is a little over a week from now. :yahoo:
Hope Yulia goes...if anything just to get use to (or even start enjoying) competing and performing her programs in competition again. From vids and pics these days she seems a lot more cheerful and actually looks like she 'enjoys' skating, as oppose to something she happened to be good at and pays the bills.

Personally I don't mind if Yulia's not part of the Worlds team this year. She may not be high on the world rankings as of right now, but she's someone who can bring in the BIG scores and ratings when she's ON. Once the consistency and confidence is back (coupled with new stylistic/mental maturity)...medals, rankings, PCS and media hoopla will surely follow...not that the latter has ever stopped.

Of course I don't mean the ideal shape, but the Cup of Tyrol starts pretty soon. There we will have the chance to check out if there are some improvements in her shape :)
P.S. Thank you for welcoming me here. I'm also glad to join the fest. By the way, your nickname seems familiar to me. Are you by any chance from Russian FSO?
