Yulia Lipnitskaya

Think today was a big test in that she fell pretty early in the program, but still continued going after her triples throughout. I can't imagine falling on the salchow, knowing the flip was to come, and yet she pulled it off remarkably well, and landed two more triples after that. Wonky second mark largely behind the lowness of the score, but a win is a win, and this free skate has to be something of a mental victory.

I'm so happy Yulia won!!!!! tho not with the performance she wanted to end it with...

it's funny cuz I always thought of her as more of a "free skate" skater more than a "short program skater" after watching her Schindler's List.
Leningrad kinda reminds me of Schindler's List and I'm sad to see it go :sad21: BUT even sadder to see Devil In Disguise gone. Although I do think #AngelInDisguise is more suited to the Queen

I think this would be the season to re-use her FS, she's only used it twice in Top-level international competitions, Skate America. And re-using the long program would give her and Alexei more time to work on her technique.

She's really switched it up, Olympic year while she was good in the SP, FS was where she dominated; however once the puberty bug hit and her technique started failing her, the FS really exposed problems because more jumps were required.

Not the best performance, but still a win is a win, and it's so pleasant to see Yulia on the first place of the podium again. Let it be the first step back to the podiums of all the major competitions, too! :cheer2:

Basically my thoughts
it can be a good mental boost!

Yulia took to Instagram to ask us to vote for Lena and Maxim.

Someone let Yulia know that this vote is a farce....:palmf:

Seriously, the event won't survive the first iteration if they let the voting exploit continue...

One of the things that really surprised me in this interview was that Yulia said when she was training under Eteri they only did choreo with the group and all the physical training had to be done by each athlete on their own. In Sochi it is basically vice versa. Also she said that her muscle core was very weak when she started to work in Sochi and that her legs are really weak too. I just started to wonder how she even skated without proper physical training, most athletes do not last long if they can't handle difficult content programs.
