Insiders please report!!!!!

WHEN did Polina Tsurskaya get her injury? Cuz the news came after the start of the competition. Did it happen off ice or on a backup rink (if there is one)????

The article says it was during today's morning (from press release) practice.

Polina's practice session finished at 10:00 while the competition started at 10:15. Her WD was announced around 11:30.
Didn't take that much time... she got injured during the practice, went to the doctor and decided to WD, it seems.

The fact that the news came only aft the start of the competition does not mean anything. They may have hoped that she will be alright, they might have tried to give her some painkillers if that would work, and all that would take some time, so I can see why she would withdraw last minute. Till the last minute she could have hoped that despite her injury she will be able to skate. One doesn't want to withdraw 'too early' if they think there is still hope. (Whether the hope was realistic or not is another matter, but it is not as if by withdrawing late she was preventing another Russian skater to take her place. It's too late for that.)

So we end up with 2 skaters. No time for a backup... "stacked Russian womens field", yeah :bang: :bang: :bang:

But both of them are medal contenders. If they don't mess up, they could manage to be on podium. But they would have to beat strong Japanese ladies... Let's hope none of them messes up. It would be shocking if they managed to lose the third spot!

Teodora is like Giada Russo for me, technically she is behind but amazing to watch, very musical , that SP is wonderful :luv17:

Really? I'm not watching the stream now but will check later :agree:

Ahh I really hate the fact that WJ does not only decide the WJ spots for the next season but also GPS spots. It's really too much to ask for junior skaters. Though I strongly believe Masha and Alisa will keep 14 spots, I hope they're not thinking about it at all. It's a hard situation for Japanese men after Sota's WD as well...
