This is getting ridiculous. :laugh2:

I hope you' re right, I really hope. I experienced things like this before and it almost destroyed someones career.
I've read that there are many negative reactions and people never forget. I just have the feeling that people are sick and tired of him and every time something "happens" it makes it worse. But let's see.

No official statement from JSF regarding the nature of the midfoot injury and there was no mention of lisfranc ligament damage at all. I think speculation arises because who was it, Brian/Yuzuru himself?, said that he had to refrain from practicing quad toe so as not to exacerbate the pain in the instep area of his left foot. Toe-pick jumps, not to mention quadruple toe-pick jumps, present great burden to the lisfranc ligament connecting the medial cunieform to the first and second metatarsal of the foot. Even the orthopedic surgeon in one of the video clips speculated that he might suffer from this condition. So, yeah, nothing confirmed yet, just a speculation.
Sorry, but it seems like at least the name of his injury was confirmed. I watched this evening news of 3 major national news channels and they all said this including the one that Alia posted which is cannel 5.
But all they said is that Yuzu suffered from this even before WC and they don't know exactly how serious it is. There are many variation as to the degree of damage and some can heal easily if you let your feet rest for sometime. We don't know yet.

Ulike Tbloid or Sports and entertainment news, national network news are quite reliable in my opinion.

I think you're really overracting... He's not god or something to be always perfect even saint... people who became negative to yuzu through this happening, I really think they're people who's not side of yuzu from previous. Every people have fan and anti. Nobody can be exception. Just inevitable whatever. Yuzu acted that with his own responsibility for feedback. and finished. Please don't spread negative power anymore.

In the news clip Alia posted before, the doctor there said it requires surgery but nothing really complicated, so he can be back in his last year's peak time performance level in 6 month. He is the sports orthopedic doctor, so seems to be very familir with this injury. But he did not diagnose Yuzu of course, so do not know his injury level. How serious this problem would only be known after he takes proper diagnosis in Tronto. Still very surprised that Yuzu chose Tronto to check his injury.
Thank you so much for your help! So doctor is talkig about surgery as one of the treatment variants, there are suggestions that long-term therapy might help. I hope whatever method he chooses works best for him.

Hi,I'm Korean fan of yuzu. This is first time to post this thread, but I've lurked this thread since Sochi. My English is not good so hope your understanding. Figure skating is not so popular sports in Korea. But since yuna' s success, some promising young skaters and Pyeongchang olys, national focus degree about this sport is high.
And international relationship of Korea and Japan has not been good or peaceful about some political issues. (sigh)
There are general skating fans in my country, but I think almost of figure fans are die hard yuna fan and against strong federation skaters....except US, Canada. But definitely there are some fans of Russia/ Japan skaters.
Especially japan players are noticed more than other country's player maybe because of close distance or mao' s influence? or political issue... It's strange because there is no particular rivalry right now.
Anyway about yuzu's view
In Korea, main focus is still lady's skating, but after sochi, there are a lot of yuzu fans here. Also fan page has been made and been active. I think the amount of Korean fan are not that big, but they are very supportive and ready to welcome yuzu at 17 4cc and 18 olys in Korea.
And media reported many news about his success or failure.. or other tabloid /unclear/ accident/private issues.. not that big amount but still biased. Figure skating community on Korea internet has so many trolls...about yuzu as same as 2ch on Japan internet. I think it's ok that someone hate yuzu as a player. Taste is just personal.
But twisting his word and personality through fabrication is too much ( sorry this is off topic, I'm too stressed about
recent trouble with other skater who has also huge fan base in Korea.. sometimes it's hard to be his fan in my country about nationalism trolls..)
In conclusion, I think non fs Korean fan's public view about him is not that important. Pyeongchang olympic venue will be full of Japanese fans... It is more pressure to him, I think.. using Japanese program is not that smart choice for location and Korean preference, but if he want to do seimei or other Japanese program, I'm ok and eventually he is really typical Japanese type. (look at my nickname he he) I respect his choice whatever.
Sorry for this rambling post but I really like his presence and unique style on ice, after sochi he really grow up to every aspects. It's pleasure to follow someone's dreaming but at the same times it's hard to see his hardship or failure.. nevertheless he is already huge achiever.
And finally I want to appreciate to this thread posters to update about yuzu.

Welcome to the thread seimei! thanks for your insight! I've always wondered about Koreans' perception of Yuzu, all the news clips about his GPF record were about him being compared to yuna (based on what I could pick up with my very limited Korean lol).

Another thing that I've been curious about is what Korea would do in the event that Yuzu (or any Japanese athlete) wins since the Japanese national anthem is banned in Korea. Only time will tell, I guess. Welcome again! :2thumbs:

I can't imagine how hard this competition was for him that he had gotten that trauma. I think his unbelievable efforts and putting in too much strength had worsened the past trauma. I don't see any way he couldn't take painkiller at the gala now. It must hurt a lot :( How could he even jump quads at gala practice?
You know, when you take a painkiller and your swelling goes down a bit and you can actually walk on your feet without feeling pain- it feels like heaven. I kid you not. Heaven.

Jazz! I love that he will have a jazz program and honestly I don't really care whether it is show number or a competitive program- can't wait to see it when he recovers from his injury. Get well soon dear Yuzu!:cheer:

Oh, thank you. I just summarized one article and one twitter. I have to be more careful about this type of post to cause misunderstanding. Sorry, everyone. :palmf:

When yuzu dominated the competition or broke record like nhk or gpf, Korean media praised yuzu and compared him with yuna.. but I personally think Korean media has basically introduced news about whoever figure skating player with yuna finding any common points. I don't usually find Korean news but there are some skaters who compared with her...in good way or bad way.
And Japanese anthem is not actually banned in Korea, just banned that on air by Korean broadcasting .. due to some historical reasons. There were some times to Japan player won gold medal at competition held in Korea. But I've never listened the anthem because the broadcasting side cut the transmission or turn other sounds. Maybe general Korean people don't have a positive feeling of that, but sport is just sport, not to be serious.. I think. But you're right. Time will tell and I actually don't mind or predict result easily.. too many dramas in Olys and two more years from now on. So I just wish yuzu' s health. I wish this is right answer to your curious things and absolutely no intention to negative to Japan users.

Has JSF released any official statement regarding the name of the injury? The orthopedic specialist on Channel 5 was saying that the most common midfoot injury suffered by sports athletes is stage 1 Lisfranc, but he was not the doctor who carried out the diagnosis and was just giving his opinion.

Midfoot injury does not equate Lisfranc, as there are several cases in which ligaments are injured, maybe stretched or partially torn, but it's just a midfoot sprain rather than a true Lisfranc injury. In this case, surgery is not required. Lisfranc may require operative or non-operative treatment based on the severity of the condition.
But since you said the other evening news also reported the same thing, maybe they've obtained additional information from JSF or other related parties, so I suppose it's true then. Hope for Yuzuru's speedy recovery.

Hi Seimei,
First of all welcome to this thread! I would like to ask you a question, do you know what has happened to this thischat room?

Oh, thank you. I just summarized one article and one twitter. I have to be more careful about this type of post to cause misunderstanding. Sorry, everyone. :palmf:

It's okay. It could be Lisfranc anyway. I don't live in Japan and mostly rely on online media, twitter, or Internet boards for Yuzuru-related news. I don't have direct access to Japanese news channels, so there may have been additional information regarding his medical condition that I'm not aware of.

Hi Seimei,
First of all welcome to this thread! I would like to ask you a question, do you know what has happened to this thischat room?

This site is yuzu's Korean Fan page. Previously Chat room is open to public, but some reason (ex. defend from trolls) it was turned to membership.. In this Chat room, there are various topic chat about yuzu whatever (competition, program, broadcasting, twitter issue, fan art, ice show, costume, news, magazine, translation, banquet pictures, other skater, ticketing etc.) like this forum thread. But I recently can't visit this site... I have a feeling to say so many things in this forum haha.. But I'm not represent of Korean fans, just one of them.

Oh I see. I had been lurking in that chat room until last year's gpf, and then I stopped paying attention to figure skating for some time. You know, because of the incident with Mr. Ten I wanted to visit that chat room to see how Koreans reacted, but I couldn't enter the chat room and I don't have an account......oh I miss that place so much, the Korean fans were always so supportive of Yuzu and they produced so many good pictures......:luv17:

What a great idea! ;) I hope my goal to watch a live competition does come true next season!

Wishing Yuzuru a fast and safe recovery this summer! Hopefully he won't have to do too many ice shows and press events when he goes back to Japan. Even though it's safe to say that we all want to see more of him during off-season, I find that him being in ninja-mode better than him having too many appearances at once.

-
Also back to the topic of costumes, my top 3 favourite costumes from him are:

Don’t worry. I’m sure yuzu wont have so many shows this summer. And ninja-mode is thanks to ANA!

About costume, yesyesyes! I love poto 1, and hana-ni-nare! (it may be no.1 for me.)
About hana-ni-nare, have you watched this performance(May 2014 hachinohe PI) ?
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2yjeua
I love this version most about hana-ni-nare! It’s a shame images are rough and commentators are noisy, but this performance, this camera work, venue lighting, shining yuzu.. All of them, my favorite!
Yeah, simplistic style make his natural beauty more attractive, I believe. About shirt type, I love this white shirt costume (Ienaiyo, Final time traveler). http://stat.ameba.jp/user_images/20140717/15/sahlia/b2/7e/j/o0480048013005738711.jpg I’d love to see it again… Just noble. I may love the collared shirt!

As a Japanese, thank you seimei for coming to this thread. I know well how much nerve you needed to come here. I love yuna, I love Korean young stars, but I have much hesitation to comment to their threads and can't go. You come here this time to tell the situation. Thank you!
Many complex things are there between the two countries, so I can’t say many, but I want to give you a hug for cheering up yuzu and giving such lovely comments here.
My long time dream is.. just 2 great performances in Pyeongchang, which remain in Korean people’s hearts…Silly dream?. I know the situation is difficult but you know how much power his skating has…
Finally, your English isn’t bad! Look at me! I have no confidence in my English. I make mistakes from time to time. But I don’t care. Communicating with yuzu fans, skating fans is just fun. please come here if you like and lets talk!:)

My boss told me: "you haven't eaten anything lately?" Then I came home and weighed myself, I have lost 3 kgs. And I eat a lot of cakes you know, yet it doesn't help. Image if I didn't eat cakes...
I think I should write a book named: "How to lose weight just by following Yuzuru Hanyu's career"

Ohh…You can become a writer..
3kg.. Are you all right? Being yuzu fan is just tough… I always think why such hardships occur to him one after another! What did he do? It’s a destiny of star?
Anyway, take much rest, eat more, keep merrily! If you get sick, your family, those who love you (including us) will feel sad!
Let think about fun! :hap85:

Thanks, hamaguri! It's your dream, my dream and our dream.. also yuzu's dream. I have no religion, but I pray for him every night..
And I was not figure skating fan before I know yuzu.. sometimes I feel competition is too cruel.. just want to see yuzu's skating all day long hehe.

Also, Fenia thanks for Korean. I'm bit ashamed these welcome.:o:

Still if you just walk it may be alright. But the pressure Yuzuru endured on his body with all the quads and skating? That's great pressure on his body.
