SOI crew finds out it was snowing in Montreal today, May 16th. Their hair falls down instantly.

 Shall we create a game of captions?

Caption 4: Patrick does another supersonic spin so fast that he's like a mini-tornado on ice. At the beginning of the spin his hair is flat. By the end, it's whipped back up into a frothy updo. :laugh2:

Well well well... Emm... Where does his previous coach works btw?

You mean where does his coach works currently?

According to this write up, About Kathy Johnson - Modern Dance Coach to World Skating Champion Patrick C,

Kathy Johnson travels from her home in Kansas City to figure skating training centers to work with some of the world's best figure skaters. The work Johnson does with elite skaters is ithe same work she does with all skaters. Everyone has to develop the basic vocabulary of movement and dynamics.

Basically, she consults as a specialist for elite skaters but has been the main coach for Patrick, her only full time student. It fits in with Patrick's history of being the focused student of his usually unconventional coaches, from retired Colson, part time technical coach Krall, and dance and body movement specialist Johnson, he stays with someone believing in and devoted to him, fulfilling his technical needs at various stages of his development as a skater.

Kathy is going to move there and start the school with him:

The three-time world figure skating champion and his coach Kathy Johnson are building an arena in nearby Richmond, B.C., that will house their own skating school. They believe it will provide one of the world's best training environments for skaters.

Chan said the facility, scheduled to be completed by 2018, will feature two figure skating-specific rinks, plus other features such as state of the art video analysis technology.

From Calica's article above:

Johnson has been Chan’s head coach since 2012. They will both make the move from Detroit to Vancouver in July.

Wow! How quickly things have progressed! I thought he was going to do something else after 2018, but this would be a good transition into life after competitive skating, no doubt. I wish them the best!

Thank you, Calica! That's a nice photo of Patrick with the cast on the boat. I retweeted you in English.

Going back to my thoughts above about Patrick's future, in Sorrento's article link above:

"It’s the first that Chan has revealed any intention of staying within the sport after he retires. He never really thought that was the future for him and his interests are so diverse."

What do you all think? Did you ever think Patrick was going to stay in the sport?

I think very highly of Patrick not just as a skater but also as a human being. I thought for a long time that mentoring would be something that he may consider, since he has such a special experience with ozzy c.

I think could be anything he wants to be but i am glad he will stick to the sport for a while. Too much knowledge not to share it.

The article is incorrect. Yes, earlier in his career, Patrick was not as decisive about his life's vocation due to his various interests. He even pondered about being a tennis player, and mused about missing out not being a hockey player. But for years now he has realized what he is destined to excel in and has expressed the desire to continue to be involved in figure skating one way or another, with the desire to give back to the sport and the communities that have been supporting him. He has definitely talked about wanting to establish a holistic training school for figure skating and the Universe has certainly answered him quickly.

I think it's most fitting for both the phenomenal talent and success like Patrick and the sport that he will continue his contribution.

Thanks, VB. I am also encouraged that he said here that he intends to go to the University of British Columbia. Heck, they should just award him an honorary degree!

"In tandem with Johnson, the objective is to establish a venue that incorporates qualified coaching and sophisticated kinetics — principles of movement, weight transference, balance, subjects he hopes to pursue by taking course at the University of British Columbia."

Lol, did you want to be on the water (in Calica's link)? Or on the wine tour here?

Or perhaps both? Maybe SOI should offer fans the opportunity to do events with the cast! Events like a wine tour, dinner, etc. would be popular, I'm sure. :luv17:

I think one of the reasons Patrick has not been taking University courses is his indecision about his future pursuit. At one time, he even thought about athletics related business in China, and considering finance as he followed a trader around in Dubai. As his self knowledge becomes clearer and his path is revealed more to him, he is likely to follow through with his studies when he's done with competing. In beautiful BC no less, where I think he will settle quite happily. I am also glad that he has the ice wine label to increase his income to afford him more peace of mind and freedom to pursue his dreams.

It may be good for a little income and PR but these are necessary relaxing times for the weary cast of the SOI so I hope they just enjoy themselves.
