Yes, Mrs Kobayashi has been accompanying Yuzu and the Japanese skaters since they were young to almost every competition. The priceless photo and reaction again...it was indeed the photo that wins the Olympics

Ms.Kobayashi is a "mother" of skaters. A yuzu fan met her at an oversea competition and said thank you for her dedication for skaters. So she replied, "My pleasure. We are "okan" ("okan" is one of the Japanese names for mother. it's unsofisticated and intimate.) of skaters!". I truly like this episode. :)

What a nice episode. "Okan" is more like a Kansai dialect isn't it? Ms. Kobayashi is from Kobe so she might speak in a Kansai tone.
--------

About Yuzuru sitting alone in the K&C, I thought Ms. Shirota can sit with him now that she's officially the director of ANA's skating club. I've seen her sitting with skaters and their coaches before when she used to be in Ms. Kobayashi's position so I don't think she minds the cameras (whereas I think Ms. Kobayashi only sits there when she absolutely has to, especially after Sochi ). Unless Yuzuru wants to sit alone, of course.

FaOI finally confirmed that Yuzuru will not attend the rest of FaOI shows in Kobe and Nagano since he is still under medical treatment from his lisfranc ligament injury. (I checked this based on google trans)

He would like to heal his injury and join the cast of the second half of FaOI. However, his recovery condition is not as desirable as expected, - as the message says

Thanks, Marin! :)
Probably this is the reason why they delayed the announcement for so long.
I can't help but wonder, "not as desirable as expected" until what extent. :sad21:

It is possible that they waited until the last moment, but he still isn't allowed to go back to full training more likely, I think it is positive to be honest, that he and his team are determined to heal completely and no rush .

I think so too.
I’m going to Nagano, so I’m little bit sad but relieved at the same time. I wish his full recovery and hope he will have a fruitful season without worries.

THis FAOI homepage announcement does not say really "his recovery condition is not as desirabe as expected" right? Or am I missing something? This message only says he is still under treatment of Lir... ligament damage and cannnot participate in both Kobe and Nagano. And they will not refund the tickets they sold already.:scratch2:

I think it is a good sign that he is taking his condition seriously and focusing on healing. And maybe having Shirota as a manager and standing between Yuzu and Show organizer or sponsor is working in goodway. As Brian said before Yuzu is not good at saying no, but he is an athelete and not a pop star, so ice shows are not important to him at all. Fan service is not important at all. We love Yuzu as athlete and he doesn't have to feel obliged in participating in shows.

I am relieved. While it shows he still has a long road ahead in his recovery (think we all hoped it might be healed more quickly), I had feared he would rush it, or try to ignore it, in order to get home to Japan to do the shows. I am glad they are being wise.

I wonder if this means more rest, or if they are thinking something more aggressive ie. Surgery... or if it means things are progressing but the shows were too soon for the stage he is at... sad for yuzu. He must be so frustrated. At least he has lots of time to devote to school.

I'm worried so much that I feel sick... It's dinner time here but I don't feel like eating anything:(

You don't want to feel sick because of a news, please try to think positive- he is giving his foot a proper time to heal and he does a very good thing by doing so. Support him with positive thoughts, have a snack! :)

I agree. I think most of us here kind of expected he won't go to ice shows. Mrs. Shirota have already said that he will be off-ice for at least 2 months and work on choreography by June (barring his injury not yet completely healed), this meant June shows would be impossible for him.

I bet his supporters would like to know more details of the extent of his injury, however considering how fickle ligament damage is, I understand why they keep it to themselves.

I see. The way they say " We could not make this announcement much earlier because we waited as much as we could bra...bra...bra and he finaly said bra...bra.." sounds like they are beign critisized for making last minute announcement and even sold additional tickets few days ago:laugh2::palmf::palmf::palmf: :laugh2:

It's not surprising tbh. It would be very rushed to have him doing shows already. I hope the treatment is going well.

Do you mean "bla bla bla"?

If at this stage he is still recovering then I guess not attempting GP season is becoming more and more real
