2016-2017 Programs by Discipline

I met Patrick Chan at a meet and greet (proof shot of his autograph that I got) which was fun.

He says his SP is choreographed by Pasquale Camerlengo and LP by David Wilson. Nothing about the music but I think it's an interesting point of discussion. I like Pasquale so I'm interested in seeing what it is when the time comes. His work for Akiko Suzuki was magnificent and the LP he did for Kaetlyn Osmond last season was very enjoyable too.

And about men, he did three fabulous programs for Takahashi: La Strada, Invierno Porteño and Blues for Klook. I think he is a great choreographer and his work with Patrick will be amazing :cheer2:

I'm a horrible fan I forgot about those, Blues for Kook and La Strada are some of my all time favourite Daisuke programs ever, he is a great choreographer I agree:agree:

I spy a cantilever :yahoo:

Cool song, many details I like. This choreo has a potential to be great (but now it looks really empty in between elements, I'm starting to see what some people said about Shoma and two-foot skating, hopefully the final version will be a bit busier).

Mao said the image of her new SP is "Black", FS is "Red".

Hmm...maybe something fiery for the FS?

It would be pretty hilarious if she does Black Orpheus for her SP and Red Violin for her FS, because those were exactly So Youn Park's choices earlier last season.

But more realistically, I think one of the programs can be a tango. After all, it's been pretty long since we've seen a tango from Mao. Or maybe something fiery like you said. I can't wait! :cheer:

That would be a funny coincidence but I believe Mao has stated that her SP and FS are actually same piece of music and she and Lori collaborated with a pianist in Toronto for it so I'm entirely sure what it will be. Probably a dark beginning and then a dramatic, fiery conclusion

It's always either Nina Simone or Michael Bublé :disapp: Not that I don't like their covers, but I can play both versions in my head because they've been used so many times

Come on. Nina Simone is a great version. I'm curious to see what they pair it with....

More reveals are coming up. Whoopee :)

Great, we're having another Feeling Good: https://www.instagram.com/p/BG6gZ77hdq-/ :sarcasm:

I love Hubbell & Donohue but why? How many Feeling Good, Sing Sing Sing, Big Spender, Minnie the moocher are we going to have sit through next season :eeking: ?
Plus Hawayek/Baker are skating to Feeling Good too...

Not sold on their "Evolution of Dance" concept either, it has so much potential to end up like their Great Gatsby FD which never quite came together IMO :drama:

I bet Team Montreal's SDs will be very similar to one another like it was last season. However, that doesn't mean H/D, P/C, and V/M won't be great in them. Honestly, this is probably the best theme they could do considering the rhythm choices and if they wanted to include hip hop.

I disagree. Yes, it's a tough combo no matter which way you slice it. But often the simpler the concept, the more cohesive.

I'm hopeful Montreal will diversify more this season. The rhythms are less in Marie-France's wheelhouse, which I suspect means more outside choreography. David Wilson is already listed with a couple of D&L's teams. Also Montreal has had more time to adjust to their growing numbers. Paul & Islam, Fournier-Beaudry & Sorenson, and Lauriault & LeGac are all signed up for the Quebec summer competition so we will get a sense early with those three teams.

US ice dance is never short on drama. Two Feeling Goods, one from the third ranked team and the other from the team that everyone thought might pass them two seasons ago.

Hubbell/Donohue is winning so far. At least they're using the Nina Simone version.
