2016-2017 Programs by Discipline

I have not watched the clips of Adam with the audio on.

If you asked me to ID these songs with a gun to my head, I hope you'll come to my funeral.:scratch2:

I love me some Adam, and I will watch, but I am skeptical about two songs from evidently the 2000s? They could be completely different genres, still doubtful; the judges are my age, not Adam's. Nonetheless, fingers crossed....

Adam Rippon-

SP: Let Me Think About It (choreo- Buttle)
FS: Bloodstream (choreo: Schwimmer)

Sneak peeks

Wow, Adam's going full EDM for the SP. Whew...that's going to be interesting since the music is sort of staccato and has a driving beat. I can't recall Jeff Buttle doing anything to this kind of music...should be interesting to watch.

Not so hot on the FS, personally, but it's a good contrast from the SP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIJHg1XWR7o

TheGrandSophy, thanks for the info!

Agree with you, Mrs. P--I like it so far and am interested in seeing more! I'm also unsure about the FS but not too much to go on yet with this one.

I would have a million doubts about the SP if not for J. Buttle. His choreography is always so modern and interesting, and he hasn't made a program I haven't liked. If anyone can choreograph to this music, it's him.

FS looks like it has the potential to be beautiful. I really like the MUSIC, but the whininess of the vocals, not so much. Still, I really enjoy the bittersweet romantic lyricism of the piece. I'm a sucker. Staying away from classical music helped Adam last season, and now he's pushing the envelope further by going with something other than what could be found on a "Now That's What I Call Music" album. Much respect for his uniqueness.

Ok, it's Adam, so I went to YouTube looking for the songs with an Open Mind. Really.

Oh dear God, the Bloodstream LP song!:hpull:::eeking:

That is the *worst* piece of "music" I have ever heard, I would rather listen to Bohemian Rhapsody in stereo 24/7. Whiny white guy moaning over one piano chord, over and over and over again. How on earth is that going to be a program? Note to Adam: Chicago did a much much better "aiming for soulful over one chord" tune. "Colour My World". In 1971. Please use that instead.

The disco song is OK, I can at least see a program to that.

Let me go shoot myself now.....:dbana:

I believe it is the "Stateless" version of Bloodstream and not our good pall Ed.

More EDM, though the more chill kind. These are very different selections and it will be interesting to see how these programs look.

By the way, it appears that Stateless is the artist and this is a completely different song fron the Ed Sheeran song as it came out 7 years earlier.

Also the piano sounds like the piano chords in Jason's "Piano" FS. Battle of the tinkly piano free skates...

Stateless is what I listened to. I could apply many other "less" es.

:dbana:

Please make this work Adam, although I don't see how...

Okay, this other Bloodstream song is better, but it does still have this problem:

the piano sounds like the piano chords in Jason's "Piano" FS. Battle of the tinkly piano free skates...

I like the vocals in this song but a lot of the background piano does indeed sound like a repetitive, lesser version of "The Piano".

Well, after all the moaning about unoriginal and warhorse selections, now the moaning about different music selections...

I like both and look forward to seeing what they do with them.

I'm excited! If I go to Skate America, I'll get to see the masterpieces. As I started within the past year to really like EDM.

   So very true!

This wasn't in your post, but anyone can answer please please please: What is EDM?

I love the piano in Jason's programs, and I'm a pianist and extreme lover of all things piano, so this is good news for me. :)

I believe it stands for electronic dance music?

Thank you! And a little bitty uuuuugh .... But maybe Adam can make it work. Hard to imagine how he's going to surpass his Beatles program for me, especially the Blackbird section.

I am hoping Adam can work his magic, since I was skeptical about Jason's "the Piano" music before the program.

But truly, the Bloodless, Stateless, whatever it is ... I like piano music just fine. We have an August Förster studio grand (not that I'm the one who plays it!) that cost more than our cars. And as far as I can tell, Adam could do much better having my spousal unit play that extremely minor key combo on the AF, over and over again, while I moaned "I'm so sad, shoot me now" every few bars. And I can't sing.

I like this idea, I would love to see Adam perform to *my* original music:biggrin:

Ashley Wagner will be skating to Exogenesis: symphony part 3, already known to skating world by the programs of Jeremy Abbott and the Kerrs.

I assume this is going to be Ashley Wagner's LP. What is she doing for her short?

I have no idea. She already said earlier on snapchat that she'd reveal the free program music this week but there hasn't been a word about her sp.
