Max Aaron

I know... how can someone be there and not say??? At least give us something please.

Many thx, Tavi .

Replying to karne and Stitch:
IMO, I do not think the person who tweeted was present in the arena -- so did not hear the music.
But the person was interested enough :) in SnuggleBat to tweet the protocol sheet that is available online.
And the person noted that Max's scores for Transitions were the lowest of his components.

Oho, this is verrrrrrrrrrrry interesting.

That 3T is a very obvious marker for the 4T. Could Max be going to start with a two quad free and build to a three? That would make him an even more powerful opponent than others might expect. I notice that there is a 2F in there - is the 3F making a comeback?

My guess - only a guess, mind you - is that they're hoping his final layout will look something like this

4S-3T
4T
3A-2T
3Lo
/
4S
3Lz-1Lo-3S
3F
3Lz

That would make him competitive with just about anyone.

Lion King music confirmed - but I noticed the ChSq was VERY early on the protocol, so I'm guessing we're not getting a glorious ChSq to the iconic music of Simba climbing Pride Rock. Oh well! I wish we could see what it was!

Oh, if this is true it is going to make me sad. I mean, how could you not do something choreographically insane for that part of the Lion King music?

I hope they have still come up with something choreographically insane! Can you imagine that music swelling into being as he charges for the end of the program that will make him National Champion once more...?

Oh. my. goodness.

This might make you peeved at me (and I think I've told you this opinion before), but it took me awhile to recover from the disappointment in his Footloose SP two seasons ago. I was so certain that he was going to do the most awesome interpretation of Ren McCormack ever. The thought that what he would pull off was making me so happy......

It would not make me peeved at you, because you know I have the same feeling . That was why I held back my judgement on the choice of Black Swan until I had seen it, and why I am desperately and failingly trying to keep the lid on my excitement for The Lion King now.

One of the comments under the USFS instagram picture was "Best program I've ever seen"...BECAUSE THAT WILL HELP WITH MY EXCITEMENT LEVELS, THANKS.

Hmm, this IN article says he did his Nessun Dorma short, so I guess he's reusing it this season. Maybe that's why nobody had reported it, because it wasn't new.

I like that program, and I'm excited enough about Lion King to be ok with him keeping it, but I always like seeing new programs so I've got some mixed feelings about him keeping it.

He sounds excited and confident enough that it makes me happy.

Two awesome ladies and a TinySnuggleBat  Cute that Max's comment below is "I <3 my moms!"

Oh, that was something. Did we know that Max was living at the OTC now? I don't remember reading anything about it, but apparently this is so? Apparently it is good for chasing Pokemon and starring in dancing videos, but it just seemed a bit surprising.

Anyway, I am super excited to see video of the Lion King now, now that we know that Max has planned this for years, now that we know he's been working harder on the choreo and spins. I just hope he's not going to make us wait until September or later to see it!

For a variety of reasons, I do not feel sure that it is true that Max now is living at the OTC ... although it could be true.
I was scratching my head when I saw a comment from someone else on FSU to the effect that he is. Couldn't tell whether the FSU member had direct personal knowledge or only was making an extrapolation??

In any case, it pleases me :) whenever I see athletes from other sports enjoying Max's company, and vice versa.

Adorable. Gave me a pang that mama Gibbs will not be able to give Max another piggyback ride for a while (or to dance :dance2: in videos with him) :(. Her summer training at the OTC for bobsled has come to an end, although I hope she will be back as she continues to work toward 2018 :yay:.
I wish her the best. I really like her Instagrams -- lots of personality and positive energy. She also has a great blog:

:agree: Agree on all counts.

BTW, a photo from Collegiates of Max with the two junior men: Max Belovol, Loyola University (gold); and Andrew Civiello, Scottsdale Community College (silver).

Max is one of the skaters quoted in today's IN article re the Summer Games:

Max Aaron: "My favorite summer Olympics memory has to be watching Michael Phelps tear up the pool in 2008, and Nastia [Liukin] and Shawn [Johnson] in gymnastics in '08 as well.

"My favorite summer sport is track and field, because it really is just you against the clock. I have always wanted to be named the fastest person in the world! I also love swimming since I have been able to meet so many of the Olympic swimmers at this year's Games. I do love the men's and women's gymnastics as well."

 #1: Not surprisingly, Max has always wanted to be the fastest person in the world.
 #2: He has met many of the Olympic swimmers.

He didn't mention his friend Adeline Gray, but I just read on the NBC site that she is a favorite for a gold medal in wrestling. Good luck to her and to everyone else :yay:.
[And thanks to Max for acquainting me with athletes from other sports. I'm still sad that Orozco had to withdraw.]

ICYMI, the Collegiates competitor who posted that comment elsewhere has a sweet little anecdote re Max. He apparently helped her feel good about her own placement :).

Small items regarding Max from the Aug-Sep 2016 article of Skating magazine:

Team USA attends Olympic Day 2016 (page 6 of the magazine)

Includes bkgd about Max's bond with the U.S. bobsled team, with whom he shares a gym.
Partial quote from Max: "The bobsledders have adopted me as one of their own since I always lift with them." :luv17:

Max's Instagram photo from Olympic Day is the illustration for the article.

Take off! Jump camp leads athletes, coaches to new heights (page 17 of the magazine)

Excerpt re Max:
Max Aaron delivered the opening keynote address, emphasizing that knowledge is power.
"Act as if you're a sponge," Aaron told the athletes. "Absorb the information these coaches are willing to share with you, and you'll walk away with a great understanding of jump technique to catapult you to success for the next skating season."

Excerpt re Max's mom :):
A parents' education seminar, which included a Q & A with Jody Flatt ... and Mindy Aaron ..., drew positive reviews. They answered questions that included topics such as school structure and the sacrifices required of an elite athlete.

[The article mentions Maddie and Max S among the team leaders at the camp. Although not listed here, Max A was another team leader, according to a social media post (not from Max, IIRC) at the time of the camp in May.]

(BTW, page 64 of the magazine has all the scores from the 2016 Aerial Challenge. Mentioning here for posterity, in case previous Results links eventually die.)

COMPETITION ALERT!

Max will start his season at the Lombardia Trophy!

He will be pitched against Jason, Grant, and Shoma Uno, just to name a few...

Oh, that should hopefully be a great experience for him - especially against Shoma Uno. Both guys will probably technically be ready to go.
