Wow, the first 3 minutes of that program are truly exquisite. I can hardly wait to see the whole thing as polished!

I like it, who ever said B/S are beatable ? well as for their programs its way better than the other russian ice dance couples so far,
they are in track to stay as russian no.1 for a record number of years now !!!
Team Beaver competed the SD, placing first with a score of 73.74 - TES 37.18 PCS 36.56
Waiting for videos!

Well, not perfect skate to be honest, but still better than at test skates. I see they changed second part on their Not Touching Step Sequence, but they stopped during it. This stop bothers me very much because it's not allowed. Unless it's too short to be considered a full stop![]()
Yeah, I was wondering the same about the stop, because although it is short, it's a stop nonetheless, and they've been doing it in the three/four times we saw them perform the short. Perhaps they could consider it more like a highlight of the music or anything like that. But we'll see how the panel at Nepela is going to see that.
Yeah, the rules are pretty clear about this.
Not Permitted Elements in Step Sequences: stops, pattern retrogressions and loops must not be included and are restricted in Step Sequences and Partial Step Sequence. They are identified as Not Permitted Elements.
In worst case scenario they'll get 2 grades GOE reduction for Not Permitted Element. we'll see at Nepela. At least this will not happen in their first GP event, that's what Challengers for.
I didn't know the exact wording, but it's pretty clear indeed. I wonder if no one at the test skates or now thought this was not permitted? Or as I said, this kind of stop is not considered a stop, I guess?
I'm actually waiting to see if there's going to be protocols for us to see, because maybe they caught that, but by the score I doubt it.

Well, there's going to be a reduction of GOE, then. Or at least I hope it will happen now and not later.
But I wonder if it's this clear, why are they even doing it?
Thanks for the info, Snow!
Okay, I had a chance to ask a VERY knowledgeable person about this, and that's what she answered me (sorry for rough translation, you can still understand it):
'... this question was asked during judging meetings this season. The answer is clear and simple: ISU specifies 'stop' as action (or non-action) in which one or both dancers remain stationary on the ice for any amount of time. However, only full stops more than 5 seconds long during SD or FD classify as 'Violation of choreographic restrictions'. In SD up to 2 full stops (not more than 5 seconds) are permitted and after that every stop becomes 'Violation of choreographic restrictions', in FD any amount of full stops are permitted (up to 5 seconds). Dance spins and pirouettes also considered by judges as stops, which is important in SD where not more than 2 full stops are permitted.
... however, these stops are permitted only during the dance as transitional elements, elements of choreography or required elements (such as Stationary lift or Dance spin). But stops inside other elements, which do not require stopping in them (such as not stationary lifts, twizzle sequences or step sequences) are not permitted no matter how long dancers stay stationary. In case of Not Touching Step Sequence stops are considered Not Permitted Elements, which means that Judges should reduce GOE for such step sequence by 2 grades for each stop'.
I feel Smarter and Better Informed for having read this!
HOWEVER, I think a much bigger problem for them is that those two pieces of music simply do not go together. It makes the program seem like two halves that have been smooshed together rather than seamlessly integrated.
I rather miss her sexy man's shirt costume.

Edit#2: I hope he's not planning POTO for the Olympic season! I will burn my Stan Card the moment he'll do that![]()
