Has anyone given this a shot? It looks like USFS via IN is trying out a TSL-style Skype interview show with less depth.
I'm only assuming it has less depth based on the short length of the first episode, in which Scott interviews Ashley Wagner. I haven't actually listened to it/watched it yet. .....
I did watch Scott's new show -- and he cites overall goals for it that are COMPLETELY different from TSL's overall goals (IMO).
For one thing, skating analysis is not/not/not the point of Scott's show.
And the scope of Scott's show is intentionally not limited to figure skating. Parts of it were motivational chat from Scott -- some intended for people in general; some for young skaters.
The show relies very much on Scott's persona: cheery, squeaky-clean, wholesome.
As for the Ashley interview, he began by saying that all he wanted to do was to get to know her as a person. He asked her mostly questions such as, "What's your idea of a perfect weekend?" "What's your favorite place in SoCal?" "Tell me about your boyfriend."
Scott is not trying to deliver "in-depth" anything.
He mostly wants the show to be fun and entertaining. Being a lesson about the sport of figure skating is not a priority at all.
ETA:
I will note -- as I have in other threads -- that the lengthiness of TSL's videos is a double-edged sword, IMO.
Unless I already am pretty darn interested in a particular interviewee or competition, I probably am not going to invest an hour or more listening to TSL. Or will do so only with reluctance.
Even if the content is substantive and on topic (as some of the TSL interviews are), an hour seems like a lot for me as a viewer to devote to one video -- but at least, it is an hour well-spent.
But many of the TSL videos have way too much off-topic chit-chat for me. I'd rather have a shorter video without the meaningless time-wasting irrelevant banter, jokes, asides, etc.
