Has anyone given this a shot? It looks like USFS via IN is trying out a TSL-style Skype interview show with less depth.

I'm only assuming it has less depth based on the short length of the first episode, in which Scott interviews Ashley Wagner. I haven't actually listened to it/watched it yet. I've never been a big fan of Scott's skating commentary, though of course I admire both what he's done for the sport and his philanthropic efforts.

I'd love to see an interview with Gracie sometime soon.

It's a bit fluffy for my taste. There's the "show" which features tidbits from Scott and highlights from the Wagner interview. The longer Wagner interview is available separately. I enjoyed the interview much more than the show, and will just skip to that in future. It's skating-lite and more to do with getting to know the skaters' personalities.

There was a moment in the show at the end when Scott quoted Romans which I found off-putting; I'm a believer in separation of church and skate. Each to his or her own though.

There is some show part and then the interview? I'm not sure if I got it right...I saw the interview with Ashley on icenetwok. I just clicked on the video on icenetwork and below there was that interview. It had around 20 minutes? Is that the longer version you are talking about?
I must say I liked it. It was relaxing and I really like interviews where I can hear more than just what the skater wants to concentrate on in the upcoming season, what are the goals for the season, when it is something else than just: "tell me something about your programs for this season"....So it seems I'm in minority here (so far) but I liked the interview, it was not bad at all.

Yep, that's the longer interview. I enjoyed that part as well. The episode itself features interview highlights plus Scott segments.

I did watch Scott's new show -- and he cites overall goals for it that are COMPLETELY different from TSL's overall goals (IMO).
For one thing, skating analysis is not/not/not the point of Scott's show.
And the scope of Scott's show is intentionally not limited to figure skating. Parts of it were motivational chat from Scott -- some intended for people in general; some for young skaters.
The show relies very much on Scott's persona: cheery, squeaky-clean, wholesome.

As for the Ashley interview, he began by saying that all he wanted to do was to get to know her as a person. He asked her mostly questions such as, "What's your idea of a perfect weekend?" "What's your favorite place in SoCal?" "Tell me about your boyfriend."

Scott is not trying to deliver "in-depth" anything.
He mostly wants the show to be fun and entertaining. Being a lesson about the sport of figure skating is not a priority at all.

ETA:

I will note -- as I have in other threads -- that the lengthiness of TSL's videos is a double-edged sword, IMO.

Unless I already am pretty darn interested in a particular interviewee or competition, I probably am not going to invest an hour or more listening to TSL. Or will do so only with reluctance.

Even if the content is substantive and on topic (as some of the TSL interviews are), an hour seems like a lot for me as a viewer to devote to one video -- but at least, it is an hour well-spent.
But many of the TSL videos have way too much off-topic chit-chat for me. I'd rather have a shorter video without the meaningless time-wasting irrelevant banter, jokes, asides, etc.

I really enjoyed the interview and the motivational segment at the end because you never know if some young kid is watching and it may be just what they need to hear (and yeah, better to leave out the religious reference, but hey, it's his show).

Given these descriptions, I'm actually more inclined to watch the video.

I always way preferred the "Up Close and Personal, the ABC way" shows (sorry not sorry for the ancient history reference) to "and exactly how *are* you practicing that quad" questions. Hope he interviews some of the US men.:hap85:
