Congrats to Shoma for winning the Silver and for making the GPF! Javi and Shoma
were miles ahead of everyone!

eta: Shoma's 3A-1Lo-3F was beautiful! To do that combo at the end of his program on tired legs is quite an
accomplishment! It is hard to believe he is only 18.

Just saw on the protocols that the 3 jump combo earned him 17.87 points. Wow! :jaw:

Congrats to Shoma! It wasn't the best skate, but that 3A-1Lo-3F was gorgeous! And he is in the GPF! I hope he's proud!

Maybe he should put the combo on the first 4T? His TES suffered for not having the combo.

I think he's gonna have a tough time with 3 quads and the 3 jump combo. Maybe as the season goes on and his stamina gets better, he might be able to handle it. Right now, it seems like it's too much for him. He already showed improvement this weekend, but at Skate America, he was totally spent when he left the ice. So he has a month now 'til finals. In the meantime, I think he'll be working with Alex Ouriashev again hopefully. We'll see what happens! (Didn't mean for that to sound negative -- I have high hopes! ) :hap10:

Articles comes. Tomorrow morning (Japan time), the news will be aired on TV news. I want to check his interview.

http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20161106-01734262-nksports-spo
http://www.jiji.com/jc/article?k=2016110600003&g=spo

His face doesnt seem fine. He says the quality of jumps and trantitions were not so good. About Javi, he realized the difference of the current ability and experience from him.
Overall he calmly accepts the result. He wasnt in a good stream and he is “kuyashi”(*note) now, but the achievement is he could managed to do in that bad condition.
Now he shows his confidence that he can fully compete for the top if he shows his ability which he has.
“if i can turn the feeling of “kuyashii” to my growth, this experience will turn out not meaningless. I want to prove it.”

*note: Also Yuzu often says “kuyashii”. This feeling is usually translated into “regret”. But the nuance is more like “feel angry with myself”. The bectle is towards oneself. So i use “kuyashii” from now.

Congratulations Shoma for the silver :yes2:

The live streaming did not work for me tonight (it did yesterday) :sad4:
So, I checked the video with some time lag, working on a bunch of assignment at home. It was a hard day :p

I heard Shoma might have a cold. (It seemed to me so too as he sniffed frequently after SP.) If so, he did very well in his not perfect condition.

I'm really looking forward to seeing his performance at GPF again. :hap10:

No wonder... he moved back to back, from Japan to US, from US to Japan, from Japan to Russsia... for the past few weeks. the flight time is so long and the distance is so far. Further, Russia seems so cold. I rather got surprised that he didnt bomb although his condition didnt seem so nice.

Take enough rest shoma! you can sleep as much as you like now!

When they interviewed him at the airport when he was leaving for Moscow (Post #2070), I mentioned that it sounded like he had a cold. Too bad he couldn't have stayed in the US and then just flown straight from Chicago to Moscow. But ugh! Being cooped up in planes with that dry air and all the germs {:shock2:} for so many hours is enough to make anyone sick.

yes... Further, the stress of the competitions must have been huge...

Anyway, he has one month till GPF. he has enough time to rest without being annoyed by media, and so on.

I havent watched the last part of this interview (the last month, after skate america).

Now is the jump era, but i want to work with expression rather than jumps. People say i’m a great skater with expression, that is truly my dream. (dream is in Japanese “yume”. it's really my dream is "mou, yume desune.")

It would be so great if he could skate a program where the toughest jump he has to do is a triple. Imagine how wonderful his expression could be in a program where he doesn't have to think about preparing for the next jumps. Many people already admire his expressiveness, so I'm happy about that!...To minimize his flying around, it would be great if he comes to Chicago and works with Alex and then flies straight to France. I don't know though, that might be harder to do than I think. At least the media might not "bug" him as much here! :scard7: And hopefully Alex wouldn't work him too hard!

ETA: Time to rest a little Shoma. :bed:  ::console:

One month is so long! Further, considering his current growth, it's certain we can see another shoma at GPF.

P.S. i corrected my typo error about the articles today. the sentense he stated is "“if i can turn the feeling of “kuyashii” to my growth, this experience will turn out not to be meaningless. I want to prove it.”

I do remember that word and remember someone writing in the Yuzu thread after Skate Canada "Time for kuyashii now". They were joking. But sometimes these guys have fabulous performances, and I think they are being too modest and too critical of themselves.

It's hard for me to imagine how nervous they must get before they skate. Here at the very beginning of this video, he almost seems like he's having a hard time taking a breath. It's ok Shoma! You can do it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_CoYMxlMkY He has already accomplished so much that I forget how young he is!

Yes! Ive almost forgot his age....

Another article
http://www.asahi.com/articles/ASJC602J3JC5UTQP03B.html
He wants to go back to home and practice!
He clapped to see javi's skate and smiled saying like "it's admirable that the world champion doesn't make mistakes. That's all."

//////////////////
On the other shoma made some mistakes. Another article says he couldn't feel the power which he usually feels at the competition although he doesn't know the reason. One of the reasons he was powerless is a cold? Take enough rest, Shoma!

New interview the next day of Free

He feels “kuyashii” after a long time. He referes to a definite problem . This is the quality and perfection of jumps. He compared his score sheet with Javi’s and found the difference with GOE of jumps. His analysis was that his landing wasnt clean. he is going to focus on the landing of jumps. Further, he states he can improve the landing by adjusting the quality of his practice.
"I have one month left (till GPF). Now i want to go back to japan and do practice."

------------------------------

OK shoma! you've found the good point! you need to improve it. About GOE other than jumps, he got more points than Javi.

From what I could see, he didn't have the same pop and spring to his jumps that he did at Skate America. Probably nerves. Hopefully he didn't go straight from the airport to the rink to practice. :drama: I'm sure he'll use it as a good learning experience. No need to panic. And he's going to the GPF! :yahoo:

Don't worry! . He must go to bed before Rink! Or have some Japanese hoods.

Love this program. Is it Stephene's work? (BTW I enjoyed a coach stephane) I don't know the reason why he used this adulty piece, but I prefer it. This duet is by piaf?

Hopefully he will rest up a bit and continue to take his one day a week of rest. Maybe we need to remind him of Uncle Dai's words "Have the courage to rest."

I really enjoy the La Vie En Rose EX. much more than See You Again. He did See You Again at Sk America but I was hoping to see the other. Yes, that is Stephane's choreography, Andrea Bocelli and Piaf singing.

It was fun to see Stephane at the competition with Deniss. I think Deniss did well considering he has had to rest because of his leg because of an injury. Good experience for him though.

Oh, thank you! None of the YT links were working for me and I couldn't watch the ex live today. I believe this is Stephane's. I prefer it to his other ex.

I would so love Shoma to break out from his normal way of work and maybe get at least one comp programme next year from another choreographer. I'd like to seem him try some different movement styles. Maybe the SP at least to experiment a little?
