All this talk about retirement/continuing makes me realize how close 2018 is...and how sad I will be when he does retire...

Do you think when he finishes he will get a quote like this on his wiki page: "She is considered to be among the best ladies figure skaters of all time, and many even consider her the best ever." (Yuna Kim's page) even though it is completely subjective XD Im kidding just saying but he is a legend already...

Translation below of a new article on the P&G website 19-Nov by Angelica Yuzu @YHIFG FB. Source: P&G, myrepi:

Yuzu answered 2 more questions from fans (submitted to P&G during the off-season).

Q1. I am a high school student. When I study, my concentration power does not last. Hanyu-senshu, how do you improve your concentration power during competitions?

YH: I was also not really the type that can focus a lot on studying. Even now, when I write my university reports, I still think 'ah I don't like this'. (laughs) It is hard to focus, isn't it? In my case, when I can't concentrate, I just try to do it for one minute. Either one minute or 30 seconds. In the case of reports, I just try writing one sentence for the time being. I try writing it, and then if the next thought does not connect, I rest a while. 2 minutes or 3 minutes. Then I write one more sentence, and I continue to do that, and after 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, before I realise it, I have been concentrating and there have been many times like that.

Competition is different from studying, there is nervousness. Figure skating is not a sport that is done alone, there are many people cheering for you and supporting you. So I think it is easier to concentrate.

Q2: Among your programmes until now, which are the ones that you like very much? (Of course, you have feelings for all of them but is there any that you felt 'I love this choreography!' ?)

YH: When I was 5 years old, in my first competition, I skated to the opening theme of 'Ultraman'. At that time, I really liked Ultraman and so it was really memorable. And 'Sing Sing Sing' too, I have liked it from young. My coach said, "If you like it that much, shall we try to skate to it?" I was so happy, and even now I still like it.

I enjoy skating 'Change' by Monkey Majik and the Yoshida Brothers. It is a very intense programme that has almost no rest, very fun and I like it very much. 'Romeo and Juliet' of 2011, which was the year of the earthquake disaster, was also very memorable. And then, Phantom of the Opera, a programme which I had wanted to do for a long time...... if I go on listing, it will be endless. (laughs)

Sounds to me that the lucky strike, might not be so lucky afterall.

You were saying? Nah, some people have a permanent "lucky strike" that needs to be kept in mind.

Anyway, now we're a week away. Fingers crossed for a steady performance so that he can get into the judges' good books. He needs to appear consistent. And we just need to survive till Friday

I hope they won't underscore Yuzuru on home ice. Lol

Well.... :slink:
Though JSF is not the Chinese Federation, so that's good and what I personally am looking for is proper GOE scoring. It's the TES that counters lucky strike, and more and more I understand Hanyu's way of thinking.

I swear if this were a game of Go, Yuzuru would be the Meijin and known to be able to read the game more deeply than anyone.

Just a few days until last gp before the final... and yuzu. Of course, lol.

He must be all packed and ready to fly over. I am sure he is excited to show his progress and do his best in japan... and I am sure he will be happy that he will be home (apart from gpf) until the new year.

but anticipating that his anti-fans will claim that he is OVER scored blah blah blah :rolleye:

Well, this happens all the time, it can be seen as a proof of a skater's success in some ways...but I still prefer Yuzu's overscoring that other skaters overscoring with double foot skating as if they were in Central Park on a Sunday morning. Even the overscoring should have some rules!

All this talk about 2018 forward....it would be nice if he goes back to Nanami for his last few years (if he continues). I wonder if her health permits all the traveling required though.

Whatever the case, I just hope fans (and him) have realistic goals if he stays. I want him to put his health as a priority and as it stands, his body already has too much wear and tear.

lol... but honestly I just can't see why people are saying Yuzuru is over scored? I mean doesn't he deserve +3s for all the elements he was able to execute well? he got -3s for that 4lo bc he doesn't execute it well
