Patrick Chan

today.... i woke up smelling the smoke from a major fire in downtown... very unpleasant feeling... went back to bed.. hugging my pillow (oh i have named it chiddy ) LOL and slept... and slept... and slept... until i received a message that the doggie I took care of for 6 years passed away.... I am so sad.... came here to see that there are still lots of debates about Patrick's victory this weekend... i am staying for the most part, clear after being quite bashed by a couple posters recently....

here's my pick for this horrible day

Aw, hugs for you... :console: BTW, that program you linked is the very first program that I first watched of Patrick last year. I was listening to Elegie and thought that several skaters had skated to it, but when I looked on YouTube, I found only Patrick's magnificent TEB program linked above. And that's how I became his fan. :luv17: I showed it to a group of writers recently and got some of them hooked, too.

Anyway, may it comfort you during this sad time.

Tomorrow is American Thanksgiving, so I sent Patrick these two graphics:

Also, another fan who was in Beijing for COC took several photos of Patrick via her long-range lens. She has agreed to let me put her photos up on my website, so I will be putting up another blog post soon.

Here's an article with some nice comments from the Chinese fans: Link

Take care, everyone!

who knew that love for Patrick was so hard to live in the skating forums? haha... i feel like I am having a harder time being a patrick fan than when I came out LOL... people were much more accepting of my gorgeous BF than they are accepting of Patrick's skating achievements LOL ;)

in any case, in days like these, and that's why i am sharing this with you all, i often sit back, choose a program from patrick i like... and watch...

here's my pick for this horrible day
I hope these two links will make you feel better: :)

It's become obvious to me that online forums are full of people who just don't feel good about themselves. If they did they wouldn't feel the need to constantly criticize and bash others. :disapp:

thanks other sweet fruit :)

the paw prints is so true....

I think the world needs more kindness.

i feel better after writing a bit and playing some music... and watching elegie a few times...

vivley, you are spoiled, discovering Patrick through perhaps one of his most sublime programs... no wonder you got hooked so strongly. I got hooked gradually from junior mini chiddy...to HUNK artist post Sochi Patrick.... we are indeed lucky to witness such inspired talent. I think I will fight the cold and icy streets and get myself something comforting to eat ;)

Hmmm... I would consider you the spoiled one for having watched him for so long! Stay warm!

BTW, did you all see this video of him today?

Synchronized camel spins!

Along with many i first fell in love with Patrick when he won his first nationals. Then his Tango at the 4 Cc did it for me.

yup... that's the moment for me too.. i had noticed him in juniors... but then.. bang he won Nationals, unexpectedly... at first i was mad because he beat jeffrey ... and well I adored buttle. But then, quickly, I learned how to love Patrick's skating. Yup.... so many years ago. The fact that Buttle won worlds that year, made me feel better and it was easier to love Patrick more and more until now...

As I said the other day, the first time I watched Patrick on TV was 2007 SA, and then he won TEB, and then I forgot about him until I stumbled upon his 2008 Nationals LP on YouTube in January. That Nationals LP got me hooked for life! The program was uncluttered but still complex and there was something about the way he skated and the ease with which he moved that captured my attention and my heart! I couldn't believe he was barely 17. He skated in such a mature way, even back then. Oh, the memories! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9d9LSJIzuQU

I like the camel spin video a lot. :) I've always loved that Patrick's transitions don't look like transitions; in other words, they look like they're supposed to be there as a natural part of what Patrick is presenting. He gets a lot of points for what he does. but I never feel as though he's doing anything just for points.

I always love this video SF4ever :) patrick's spiky hair and jeffrey's bieber hair... so 10 years ago :) i have had both styles too LOL ;)

thank you all for all your support and sharing your falling for patrick moments... i know my struggles from yesterday are petty compared to what others can go through at times... but i found comfort here and I am grateful for that.

I am not American but for all of you who celebrate TG I wish you a happy one, surround yourself with joy and love... eat tons of stuffing ;) and be grateful for all you cherish... (including Patrick ... gotta stay on topic).

I know Patrick was already 17 in that video but it looks to me as he grew a little after that... would that be true or just my impression? Of course, he has grown into his manly proportions but he seems a bit shorter there...

talking about giants, this one is a literal one... it just cracks me up every time I see Nam standing next to other skaters... OMG... he is so tall... I wish nammy a good one at NHK in a few hours.

Got a list of donors to my daughters high school and guess what Patrick Chan's name was on it! Very surprised as I know he didn't study there and most of the donors are parents of former or current students.
I wonder whether he uses their ice from time to time. I know the Leafs practice on it.

Patrick is a very common name picked by many Chans. So you need to verify it's indeed OUR Patrick Chan on the list. The possibility is a bit higher if he does know the school because of the rink. Or it may be through family ties.

Here's a picture of Pchiddy with my brother whose name is . . . Patrick Chan!

Yes, this is a picture of Patrick Chan and Patrick Chan!!!

VB is right. Patrick Chan is a common name. (But there's only one PChiddy!!!!!)

(And no, unfortunately, we are NOT RELATED to PChiddy.)

Must be another Patrick....maybe it was your brother blueberry.....did he study at De La Salle Oaklands?

I spent today enjoying Patrick's old programs. How his style and choreography has evolved. Lori's programs were certainly mark amassing but I find them busy rather than exquisite.

So I want to ask you guys - what do you think are Patrick's goals for the GPF? I've begun to move past over analyses of PCS and GOEs (the judges give them out as they see fit anyways) to thinking about what skaters want from their own skating.

I think we can agree a landed 4S in the FS would be a top priority. He could have a clean FS.
A clean SP is another. No step outs, hands down, or tripling quads/doubling lutzes.

I also think he needs to aim for a level 3 step sequence. He had two at Finlandia. At SCI he had one in the FS. Both at CoC were level 3. It's 1.20 lost with those level 3s but as we see with how close scores can be I think he can use 1.20 points.
