Yulia Lipnitskaya

LOL.....Yulls is gonna prove the fact that one's skating skills does NOT decrease but infact increases when one posts a few pics from a photo shoot, as proven numerous times by Mr Cizeron. :handw:

On another note: if a skater has time to take multiple on-ice selfies that would actually make me question just how efficiently he/she is spending their precious ice time.

So you think that if Yulia or another Russian lady say Liza T. does well and medals at Nationals that they will be passed over for 1 of the 4 that competed at the GPF?
I think that they’ll go with those who consistently show high results, because there’s more chance that they’ll deliver at Worlds. Even if Liza does 3A at Nationals there’s no guarantee that she’ll do it at Worlds, and without it she isn’t likely to medal. Considering that Yulia withdrew from SA because of injury and then could barely finish her LP at COR and hasn’t shown high results since the Olympic season, I think they’ll be more likely to choose somebody who seems healthy and has been showing consistently high results this season. If two of the four Russian GP finalists bomb at both GPF and Worlds, Yulia and Liza might have a chance if they skate well at Nationals. But otherwise the judges will likely put three of the GP finalists on the podium at Nationals (after all, both GOEs and PCCs are pretty flexible). But, of course, that’s just my thinking of how they’ll act. We’ll see.

I dont think so. Last year Anna was terrible at NHK and missed GPF, but when she medalled at Nationals she was sent to euros and worlds. Although, now that I think about it, there werent any other Russians in GPF besides Elena and Medvedeva....
But in 2014 they didnt give Julia a ticket to worlds because of not medalling at Nationals although she had made GPF that year...
Yes, last year there were only two Russian GP finalists, but three berths to Euros and Worlds, so one more lady got a chance. I’ve read in the Wikipedia article on Yulia that during the pre-Olympic season she was age-eligible for some senior competitions (like GP), but not for Euros and Worlds.

No problem, when I posted that I wasn't trying to get a answer only from Spiral...It brings up the 'team selection' conversation that happens as we get closer to Nationals and Euros/Worlds, because the Russian ladies are so deep, how does the team get picked.
1) Should they go with the seemingly least controversial method and say that the top 3 ladies go unless 1 gets injured
2) Should there be a 'season evaluation' done and if someone has done really well all season but wasn't in the top 3 at nationals still get to go
If you’re asking not which scheme the Russian Federation is more likely to adopt, but which scheme we think national federations should adopt, that’s a different question. Personally I wouldn’t venture an ironclad rule either way. I think it should be done on a case by case basis. But again that’s just my opinion.

She looks really pretty here but she is also a talented skater. She has struggled with pressure and injury but seems like she's improved (not with the injury though). She's got the best spins (among the ladies IMO) and her programs this season are better than the other Russian ladies IMO. Keep fighting Yulia!!! :hap10:

this one looks sorta shopped, couldn't really recognize her. like her face was narrowed. I think she looks better before.
Yes, this is ridiculous, especially considering how beautiful she is in reality. She was always a pretty girl but I didn't expect her to grow into such a beautiful woman.
Russian Nationals are going to be a nightmare, as always ... :hopelessness:

I hope Yulia does well at Nationals. I am looking forward to seeing her SP and LP the most. :hap10: (specially her LP-- would love to see all of it :) )

Go Yulls! :hap10: #cheeringandprayingalready

I've got a bottle of vodka to help me get through Russian Nationals, if not then my work's Xmas party is on the day of the SP...so chances are I'll be drunk during the SP and epically hungover during the LP.

I'm both excited to see Yulia at Nationals but also rather on edge. I don't think the SP will be a problem for her; she had a good SP at Rostelecom which was a good confidence boost for her. But the FS… I don't wanna jinx it but I have a horrible feeling the FS anxiety will take over again. Hopefully she'll be able to finish the whole programme (which would be awesome to see since the last time was the Test Skates back in September), but then there's how well she'll finish it…
