Figure Skating Anime

Wow JJ's score was horribly Chanflated:shocked: even if he gets PCS of 45 points (which is PCS of a clean Patrick chan SP), the maximum score he could get is like 72 ish

No, his score was horribly YOI-inflated, as were the rest of the competitors' scores! PCS > 50! LOL.

I'm so disappointed in scoring, especially in JJ's score. I'm not good at math at all, but I can still know it is not accurate :scard8:

I truly can't stand Yuri in this episode......

I did have a couple of moments where I wanted to shake him...I mean a hand down on a quad flip is not a total disaster, and his mopey emo-ness after was not warranted. Plus, he was thinking too hard during his program. But I mean, skaters are humans and emotional creatures, we can't blame him too much.

R-Yuri cheered for Otabek, YESS! :yes2: I'm suprised Evgenia didn't comment how R-Yuri went Eteri skaters way with the tanos and Rippon! The scores are laughable. The scenario is not. We all have seen Javi & Patrick winning their GP assigments and not making it to podium at GPF. But since the anime clearly does not follow real scoring, I'm expecting major places change after Free. Just hope they won't hurt R-Yuri much, I want him to be happy, or angry, but not sad.. J-Yuri had a personality from the very beginning that had annoyed me a little, this episode just made it a little worse. Is he really going to pull Tatsuki Machida here? It really looks like he want to retire. And after that airport scene when he wanted Viktor to coach him forever it doesn't make sense.

Btw. Love triplets asking their dad about BV! I'd like the producers to do Japan Nationals, just so there would be more scenes with triplets :luv17: And I agree that some YoI fans, who doesn't care at all about Figure Skating, are sabotaging a little fans of the sport. They can be extremely annoying. Wikipedia incident is just :dumb: Though there are also some who genuinely try to learn about Figure Skating.

Yurio with 118+ #HOW?! but i still love the accuracy where even in YOI, world records are broken with tanoing all over the place. Bc just like GPF is the most important competition ever, tanos are clearly the most difficult and amazing thing in skating.

I really loved this episode tho. I always want more Viktor

On one hand if he retires the show will probably end. On the other hand I feel like Mitsurou Kubo might want to share her perspective and experience of witnessing Machida's retirement announcement from the stands.

If it is going to be made into some cheap drama, then I'd rather the show would end. This episode comparing to last one was weak plot wise. Hope the last one will be much better and not just drama...

This is the second to last episode so I was expecting a few things to add some drama. First, Yuri had skated his short strongly all season, so he would mess up in the short. I was guessing a fall. Second, Yurio hadn't skated his short as well as he wanted so I predicted his best short today. With the rest of the skaters it would be a mixed bag.

And I was right. I'm just annoyed at the excecution. Hand down and below 100? Really?

As for Yurio. I get it. If Zhenia can break WR with her tanos, then I guess Yurio can too. Of course she backloads and had a season and a half to do it. I think why he finally scored so highly is because he finally grasped what agape is by finally making a friend. So, ok.

JJ's score is utterly wrong! Two singles and he scores in the 80's?! He'd be lucky to score in the 60s with costly errors like that! That score is ridiculous. :disagree: Next year the directors are going to have to do more research on scoring.

That's my next episode, I know Yuri is going to have a huge score. He's never skated his long perfectly, and it's about his journey with Victor, so of course he'll do it well. But the real drama is whether Yuri will retire or not. It's foreshadowing that Victor wants to return to competition and Yuri wants to let him go. Funny how fans are freaking out over it. A multiple season arc requires them to have challenges.

unpopular opinion but I prefer the coaching to end, not the romance, I know both are adults but I prefer them being rivals competing. For me a coach/student romance seems so little professional, and more knowing the antecedents, I mean, the flirting situation at the GPF banquet. Evidently Victor did not came to Yuri with intentions strictly professionals :p

yeah im pretty sure yuri noticed that viktor still had that competitive glimmer in his eyes and wants to set him free of his coaching duties so that he can compete and do what he loves again (now that viktor has learned to love it again)

that's actually very sweet of him to do and consider. honestly i am so in love with how healthy their relationship is lol. and i think yuri is now fired up and knows how to take reign of his career again. and his dream had always been to compete with viktor one day, so perhaps that will finally get to happen! competing against each other might bring out a different side of their relationship and might in fact deepen it too.

my question is if they'll train together in hagetsu or not.. they probably could but then who would coach them? would love to see yuri go to russia with viktor though and train in that camp for a while (because then we'd have yurio and ashley-look-alike!)

id be surprised if there weren't plans for a 2nd season.

The scoring is really pissing me off HAHA

Hopefully my maths is correct but even with a perfect program (+3 GOEs and 10 for components), you need at least a Quad Lutz in your program to get 118+ for SP...

Yes, the highest possible score for Yurio with perfect GOE and PCS would be 115.. but it's GPF inflation
And all those tanos :yahoo:
The most ridicolous score was obviously JJ's :laugh2: with the correct judgement and perfect PCS and GOE for what he produced the maximum score should have been 83 points :drama:

I really couldn't concentrate on Yuuri/Victor drama because I was so mad about the scoring!

At the banquets, it’s rare for the skaters to get very drunk. Usually the banquets are time spent between the whole skating family, coaches, judges and federation officials, so drunken dance-offs would be pretty inappropriate. The drunken dance offs happen in the hotel rooms once all the old people go to bed.

There have been many strange moments watching a fictionalized version of our world, so much so that I’ve had times when I say to myself, “Who told!?” There are so many secrets in in the show that only skaters or people very close to them, would know about. Sometimes a character will remind me of a dirty little secret that even hardcore skating fans don’t know about, and while it may not be completely played out in the show, the pink elephant has entered the room.
You can read it all here:
Johnny Weir's interview in re to YOI

Back in 2014 Daisuke Takahashi said he danced with Tatsuki Machida in their shared room at the Olympic village and everyone just had a good laugh about it but reading Johnny Weir's comments now... looks like YOI has been spilling some figure skating tea right before our eyes. Who told?! I bet Kenji Miyamoto is a walking gossip encyclopedia.

:agree:

seriously tho reading that Johnny interview now I am dying to know who is the real life skater who comes in his pants every time he finishes his programs.

Also wondering who Chris reminds him of because honestly in the show Chris is not portraied as a sore loser and in spite of being so extra with his own skating he is always nice to the other skaters in the show so Johnny is clearly projecting on Chris and I so wannaaaaaaaaaa knowwwwwwwww.
Johnny why you tell so much and so little at the same time??
